The company has an established track record in the provision of independent financial advice, and in credit and capital intermediation in the corporate and public sectors in East Africa, and beyond.

Pangani Advisory was founded in July, 2012 by Heri Bomani and John McGuffog, both highly experienced bankers with intimate knowledge of the Tanzania and East Africa market.

The company is led by experienced executives comprising international and Tanzanian staff with over 50 years of financial services industry experience.

Management

Heri founded and leads the Pangani Group, a diversified investment Group with interests in Property Development, Property Services, and Financial Services in Tanzania.

Pangani Group’s main focus is property development with the establishment of shopping centres and middle income residential gated communities in Tanzania.

Pangani Real Estate Services, a subsidiary of the Group, is the Tanzania associate company for US Fortune 500 professional services and investment management firm Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL).

Before establishing the new Group, he was CEO & Managing Director of KCB Tanzania, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kenya Commercial Bank which is East Africa's biggest regional bank. Prior to KCB, Heri spent 11 years at Standard Chartered Bank lastly serving as Retail Director where he led the way in building a strong retail franchise that took the Tanzania market by storm.

Heri sits on the Africa Advisory Board of the International Council of Shopping Centres. He is a fellow of the African Leadership Initiative, and a member of the Aspen Global Network.

Born in Tanzania, Heri graduated with a BSC Economics degree from Cardiff Business school at the University of Wales in the UK.

Director – Heri Bomani

Born in Tanzania, Erard holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration (ESAMI, Tanzania) and a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration (The American Intercontinental University London, UK).

Erard Joined Pangani Advisory in September 2019.

Erard is an experienced banker and has worked in various senior position in international Banks for 20 years in Tanzania including Standard Chartered Bank, National Bank of Commerce (ABSA), and Standard Bank of South Africa (Stanbic Bank), gaining vast corporate client experience in various sectors such as Telecoms, Manufacturing, Media, Financial Institutions, Public Sector, NGOs, Power & Infrastructure, Metals & Mining, Consumer, China, Oil & Gas. Erard has also acquired extensive knowledge in Transactional & Investment Banking.

Additionally Erard has also worked in the motor industry for the leading brand Toyota Motor Corporation (Tanzania Distributor) where he significantly contributed to the marketing of the brand in Tanzania.

Erard is also an entrepreneur and is currently involved in the field of micro finance, debt management, financial advisory and others. Erard also speaks French fluently.

Director – Erard Mutalemwa

Director – John McGuffogBorn in the UK, John attained a degree and then embarked on a whirlwind international tour of duty. In the process John has amassed over 30 years experience in banking, finance and project appraisal.

John has taken on senior management positions (many of these with Barclays Bank) in Australia, Japan, the UK, and many African countries. His experience is rich and deep with extensive exposure to business development, credit and risk management, and leadership / governance.

Before coming to Africa, John was heavily involved in re-positioning both Barclays Stockbrokers and Barclays Personal InvestmentManagement to better serve their retail investment constituency.

In his last three roles John served as the CEO of Banc ABC in Zambia for two years, and prior to that in the same capacity with Banc ABC in Mozambique.

Before moving to Mozambique John was the MD of a development Bank, TDFL in Tanzania. In his last chapter at the Bank he was heavily involved in the acquisition of TDFL by Banc ABC. Whilst in Tanzania he sat on the Boards of Songas (Oil and gas subsidiary of Globeq), Capital Properties Limited, Lion Insurance, Eurafrican Bank (then a subsidiary of Fortis Group), and Akiba Bank (an SME bank in which Triodos Bank, IFC, FMO and Accion are major shareholders).
