Role of new NI Contact Points (NICPs)

• NICPs housed in both universities• Supporting - health (x2), ICT (x2),

engineering, SSH and energy• Invest NI have the role of NICP for SMEs• DARD are funding a role within AFBI• Close links with UK and Irish NCPs

NI FP7 Performance

• As of 1st July 2013 - €63.5million from 216 participations with 75% going to HE

• 28 SME participations

• NI success rate 19.7%, EU average 21.3%

• Top 5 funded areas:– Marie Curie €11.0m

– ICT €9.0m

– ERC €8.4m

–Health €8.1m

–FAFB €5.9m

*SSH €1.4m, 5 participations

North/South performance

• Under FP7 reached €80.5 million, as of 1st July 2013

• 261 successful applicants (104 North and 157 South)

• An above EU-average success rate of 23.7%
