Palm Sunday
Call to Worship
Jesus rode a donkey into Jerusalem.
Hosanna! Blessed is the King who comes in the
name of the Lord!
The people laid down their garments and praised God.
Hosanna! Blessed is the King who comes in the
name of the Lord!
If the people keep quiet, even the stones will cry out.
Hosanna! Blessed is the King who comes in the
name of the Lord!
*Hymn #88 All Glory, Laud, and Honor Valet will ich dir geben
*Prayer of Confession
Merciful God,
we confess that we have sinned against you.
The lips that sing “Hosanna!”
are the same that shout “Crucify!”
The hands that wave palm branches
are the same that prepare your cross.
Forgive us, God of grace.
Look upon us with mercy – our lives are in your hands.
Save us, by your steadfast love;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
(prayer continues)
*Kyrie Eleison
*Declaration of Forgiveness
*The Response

And also with you.

Prayer for Illumination
Eternal God, quiet within us all mortal voices, that through the story
of the passion and by the power of your Holy Spirit, we may have the
same mind that was in Christ Jesus, in whose name we pray. Amen.
First Scripture Reading Philippians 2:5-11
The Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
Psalm 118 Dr. Angela Batey, cantor O’Carroll
Give thanks to the Lord, for the Lord is good; God’s mercy endures forever
Let Israel now declare, God’s mercy endures forever.
The Lord is my strength and my song and has become my salvation. (R)
Open for me the gates of righteousness; I will enter them and give thanks to the Lord.
This is the gate of the Lord; Here the righteous may enter.
I give thanks to you, for you have answered me and you have become my salvation. (R)
The stone that the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone.
By the Lord has this been done; It is marvelous in our eyes.
This is the day that the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it. (R)
Hosanna! O Lord save us! We pray to you, Lord, prosper our days!
Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord;
We bless you from the house of the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for the Lord is good;
God’s mercy endures forever. (R)
Second Scripture Reading Luke 19:28-40

Children Education
Wing
This year children K-5 are walking through a fun story
rotation series called “Spark.” Each month, one Bible
story is featured, with a different weekly “rotation” of
the story, using music, art, games, drama, cooking,
video, or serving, etc. to experience the story more
deeply.
Youth Education
Wing
Students are using Sparkhouse’s Echo series, a Bible
overview for youth using storytelling, creative
reflection, and dialogue. Through this story-based
approach, students find meaning and identity in the
biblical narrative.
