Several different topics were discussed to further develop and improve the activities of the Kudumbayogam during the next year. All members who attended meetings raised the concern about absence of the young and the youth during the annual meetings. So there was a proposal to induct a few adult young members in the Executive Committee, next year. The meeting also requested the President to follow up and select eligible students for the educational scholarships from three schools in Kottayam and a deserving patient for medical aid. As you will observe from the report below, the Kudumbayogam women’s wing had a lot of activities during the current year. The Annual General Meeting of our Kudumbayogam will be held on 1st May 2017. On Feb 8th, we met at Lalitha Isaac’s home and made preparations to visit the Jerusalem Marthoma Church Mission Centre at Kurichi, established in 2005. This centre does a lot of help for the poor and needy. Ajeesh, the co-ordinator explained the work being done by the Centre like Medical camp, Palliative care, Pakal Veedu for senior citizens, etc. They are in need of funds to meet the expenses to run the Centre. Here also, we handed over Rs.10,000/- to support the needy.

We thank God almighty for all the opportunities we get to serve the humanity. These special moments will stay with us for ever as sweet memories.

A one day picnic was arranged by the Kudumbayogam to Thekkadi on 26th January 2017. We got together at Jerusalem Marthoma Church and started the journey by 6.30 am. On the way, we had breakfast at Pullupara, Till then everybody was quiet and sleepy. Then, Mon (Isaac Palathinkal) took charge of the entertainment part by singing a funny song. He made us all participate by singing songs, telling jokes, etc. Ranjit Kurian once again showed his ability in identifying persons in one’s mind by asking a few questions.

We reached Kumily around 11 am and went straight to Hotel Ambadi. They served us some mouth-watering items like ‘Pork in Honey’ a chef’s secret. We went around the hotel taking photographs of groups and flowers. The

ambience was good. Laurie Baker’s designs and architecture shows its class.

After relaxing for a while, we went to Thekkadi. Unfortunately, due to the low level of water in the lake, the boat services were limited and hence we could not go for boating. We took some photographs and walked around enjoying the scenic beauty. There were some huge and very old trees with name tags. We tried to be good botanists by putting together our limited knowledge. We were also able to see some ‘Karimkurangus’.

On our way back to Hotel Ambadi, ‘male voice (or noise?)’ of Palathinkals sang some old Malayalam songs. All of us appreciated the talents displayed. We had a sumptuous typical Kerala lunch at the hotel.

As the boating was cancelled, Bhasi arranged a visit to the Tea factory of POABs group. As 26th was a holiday, there was no manufacturing activity. Mr.Haridas, the Factory Manager, was kind enough to take us around the factory, explaining the various processes in tea making. We had tea sponsored by POABs and ‘Kumbleappam’ by Prasanna. Some of us bought Tea and Coffee packets from POAB’s outlet.

On our way back. we stopped at ‘Parumthumpara’ from where we had a beautiful view of neighbouring area of Tamilnadu. By the Grace of God, we reached Kottayam by 8.00 pm.

It was a nice trip. We all could relax and enjoy the company of each other. Our thanks to Ranjit Mathew, Ranjit Kurian and Bhasi Ipe for organising and making the trip a success.
