Pakistan Kidney Center (PKC) First Charitable Project Of Pakistan Welfare Society Background About 10 million people suffer from various kidney related diseases in Pakistan. Basic reason for abundance of kidney related diseases in Pakistan is poor health system which includes lack of awareness and treatment of diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and kidney stones etc. which are major causes of kidney failure. Lack of dialysis treatment facilities in the government hospitals with long waiting time which is approximately one year. During this time, 50% of patients requiring dialysis treatment die within few months, because they can’t afford expensive dialysis treatment in private sector or poor quality of dialysis etc. Recognizing the need for specialized kidney hospitals in the rural areas of Pakistan, the Pakistan Welfare Society (PWS) Jeddah envisioned the Pakistan Kidney Center, the first charity kidney hospital in the area of Abbottabad- Hazara Division of KP province. Pakistan Kidney Center VISION PKC aspires to become a center of excellence for Diagnosis, treatment, Prevention as well as research on kidney diseases in Pakistan. Pakistan Kidney Center MISSION Our mission is to bring the state of the art facilities for Dialysis and treatment of kidney diseases for people of Pakistan, especially for the most deserving and needy to save their lives and to help them to live near normal life. Background

Project Achievements and Cost

PKC building is near completion and 60 Million PKR

(2.2 Million SAR / US $0.590 Million) have been spent.

Now to equip the hospital with 10 Dialysis Machines and

Diagnostic Equipment will cost around

50 Million PKR (1.9 Million SAR / US $0.50 Million).

Dialysis unit and Out Patient Department at the center will be functional by April 2015.
