On 14th August, 2016 Independence Day was celebrated all over Pakistan. Pakistan Boy Scouts Association also celebrated the independence day with full zeal. A special Ceremony was held at National Headquarters, PBSA, Islamabad where Hafiz Tariq Mahmood, Senior Deputy Chief Commissioner, PBSA, Mr. Zahid Mahboob, Secretary, PBSA and NHQ Staff gathered for Qur’an Khawani. Senior Deputy Chief Commissioner,

Hafiz Tariq Mahmood led the prayer for the prosperity, integrity and solidarity of Pakistan.

Empowering Youth through Scouting 19-21 August, 2016

A Ceremony was held at Quetta where Chief Commissioner, PBSA Mohtarma Rhaila Hameed Khan Durrani was also present.

Sr. Dy. Chief Commissioner, PBSA also visited Haji Camp Islamabad to celebrate Independence Day Celebrations with 76 Scout Khuddam, rendering services for pilgrims. National Flags were distributed among all.

(Reports on celebrations of Provincial / Branch Associations on next pages please) EMPOWERING YOUTH THROUGH SCOUTING 19-21 AUGUST, 2016The Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN) in collaboration with Pakistan Boy Scouts Association (PBSA) hosted a three-day leadership camp at PBSA Headquarters, Islamabad from 19-21 August, 2016

American Counselor for Public Affairs and Eagle Scout, Robert Raines, helped kick off the

event at the opening ceremony “Leadership, teamwork, basic outdoor skills, first aid, and citizenship skills will make a difference in your lives and in the lives of others for years to come,” he said to the Pakistani Boy Scouts.

Raines also thanked the Chief Commissioner of the Boy Scouts, Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani, Speaker Balochistan Assembly & Chief Guest of the Opening Ceremony for

her efforts to strengthen Pakistani youth leadership skills. The Scouts were engaged in numerous leadership tasks throughout the weekend, including first aid, sports, pioneering, and outdoor survival. The Scouts were mentored by various leaders, including the National Secretary of the PBSA, Zahid Mahboob, and various alumni of exchange programs to the United States.

The United States and Pakistan share a rich tradition of Scouting. There are more than 3 million combined Scouts between the two countries who are learning the same skills and values.

PUAN is an alumni network of

students and professionals who have

participated in U.S. government-

sponsored exchange programs. With

more than 20,000 alumni across

Pakistan, PUAN is one of the largest

alumni networks in the world. PUAN

regularly organizes events across

Pakistan, including service projects,

leadership training, roundtable

engagement activities. During the

Scout Global Village.

FINANCE SUB-COMMITTEE MEETING HELD AT NHQ, PBSA, ISLAMABAD ON 5TH AUGUST, 2016Finance Sub-Committee Meeting held at National Headquarters, PBSA, Islamabad on 5th

August, 2016. Meeting started with the recitation from the Holy Qur'an by Mr. Abdul Samad Chishti, Provincial Secretary AJK-BSA. The Chairman thanked Allah for His mercy and welcomed the members for sparing their valuable time for the meeting. He highly appreciated the Members for their active role for the promotion of Scouting.

Hafiz Tariq Mahmood, Sr. Dy. Chief Commissioner, PBSA Chaired the meeting. Syed Akhtar Meer, Honorary Treasurer, PBSA, Mr. Nizam ud Din Mengal, Balochistan BSA, Mr. Abdul Samad Chishti, Provincial Secretary AJK-BSA, Mr. Imtiaz Khan, Provincial Secretary KP-BSA, Mr. Abdul Mannan, Assistant Provincial Commissioner, PR-BSA, Mr. Qamar Shamim, Assistants Provincial Council PIA BSA and Zahid Mahboob, Secretary, PBSA were also present in the meeting. Budget Estimates 2016-17 & Expenditure Statement 2015-16 was recommended for approval from National Council. House appreciated the financial management of National Headquarters.

Independence Day Celebrations all over Pakistan

during a youth camp held at NHQ with the collaboration of US Embassy in Islamabad. More than 100 scouts and members of PUAN (Pak US Alumni Network) participated in these activities Another opportunity was provided by Punjab Boy Scouts Association during Provincial Rover Moot at Summer Scout Centre Ghora Gali, Murree Hills. More than 300 Rover Scouts went through these activities. During both the events, participants keenly observed the use of photovoltaic, enjoyed solar cooking, cockroach race and the Solar Art . They were happy for participation in the activities and were of opinion that it is need of the time particularly for Pakistan where we are facing energy crises.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS ALL OVER PAKISTAN

CELEBRATIONS AT PIA BOY SCOUTS ASSOCIATIONPIA Boy Scouts Association celebrated 70th nationalistic day with great zeal and enthusiasm. On the day PIA BSA organized the patriotic event at PIA head office Lawn, on 9 O'clock. Muhammad Shuaib, Provincial Commissioner PIA BSA was the Chief Guest of the flag hoisting ceremony. Flag was raised by the Chief Guest with all Provincial Officials of PIA BSA and the national anthem sung along with the President of Pakistan through

media channel and a plant was also planted in the premises of PIA H.O Lawn by PC, PIA BSA & prayed the scouts to work devotedly for unity, discipline, brotherhood integration, national building and work for prosperity of loving homeland. Academy District arranged a bus to take the Mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam, each district participated and went to the Mazar along with the provincial officials as well. At the Mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam PIA BSA offered the prayers & floral garland on behalf of Chief Scout PIA BSA. Independence day was also celebrated at PIA District Scout Headquarters, Islamabad. Mr. Muhammad Arshad, District Manager PIA Booking Office Sadr Rawalpindi hoisted

the National flag. Syed Abid Mujtaba Hussain Naqvi, District Commissioner, PIA BSA Islamabad District. District Scout Leader, Shaheen, Scouts and Rovers were also present.

CELEBRATIONS AT GILGIT-BALTISTAN BSAScouts of Gilgit-Baltistan Boy Scouts Association participated in Independence Day Parade in Gilgit- Baltistan, held on August 14, 2016 at Chinar Bagh Gilgit. Mr. Shah Qamar (ALT) Scout Leader was parade Commander of Scouts. On the occasion, Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan Governor Gilgit-Baltistan was the chief guest. Hafiz Hafeez ur Rehman Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan, Force Commander Gilgit-Baltistan Major General Syed Asim Munir, Chief Secretary/ Department Secretaries Gilgit-Baltistan Speaker, Ministers and Members of Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly and huge crowd graced the event by their presence.Honorable Governor Gilgit-Baltistan Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan, Hafiz Hafeez ur Rehman Chief Minister, Force Commander Gilgit-Baltistan Major General Syed Asim Munir, appreciated the performance of Scouts.

CELEBRATIONS AT KHYBER PAKHTUNKHWA BSA CELEBRATIONS OF INDEPENDENCE DAY WERE ORGANIZED AT EVERY LEVEL

Independence day was celebrated on 14th August, 2016 at Takiya Scout Camp, in which about 1000 Scout Leaders and scouts were participated. Mr. Imtiaz Khan, Provincial Secretary, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was the Chief Guest of the Ceremony. This Programme

was organized under the supervision of Mr. Khan Afzal (LT), Camp Incharge Scout Takiya Camp. Speech Contest was arranged. Cash prizes and certificates were awarded to the winners. Matta Scouts Open Group also celebrated Independence day 2016. Mr. Ahmad Khan was the Chief Guest. Certificates were awarded to the scouts.

CELEBRATIONS AT SINDH BOY SCOUTS ASSOCIATION A graceful Ceremony was organized at Provincial Scout Headquarters, Sindh BSA on 11th August, 2016. This was the day when the design of National Flag was approved. A

large number of veteran scout leaders, s c o u t s , s t u d e n t s f r o m d i f f e r e n t organizations / fields participated. Flag hoisting , National Anthem, speech contest and national songs were main elements of the programme. Special prayers were offered for the prosperity, integrity and solidarity of the country.

Speech Contest, national songs competitions and Cultural Show were arranged. Documentary films of Movement of Pakistan were also played.On the closing Ceremony Brig (R) Abdul Hafeez, Principal PSCC Batrasi expressed his views amongst audiences. Mr. Jan Dad Khan Marwat, Chairman Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education Abbottabad was the Chief Guest of the ceremony. At the end Gifts were distributed amongst the students.

CELEBRATIONS AT PUNJAB BOY SCOUTS ASSOCIATION

Independence Day Celebrations were organized all over Punjab. Major activities were held at Lahore, Ghora Gali Murree Centre, Multan and other major cities.

Boy Scouts also participated in the main ceremonies organized at Badshahi Mosque.

CELEBRATIONS AT BALOCHISTAN BOY SCOUTS ASSOCIATION Major Ceremony of Independence Day was held at Quetta Provincial Scout Headquarters.

CELEBRATIONS AT PAKISTAN RAILWAYS BOY SCOUTS ASSOCIATION

Pakistan Railways Boy Scouts Association also celebrated Independence Day in all the District Scout Associations.

A special train consisting of Floats depicting History and culture of Pakistan traveled is passed through major cities.

Pakistan Railways Boy Scouts Association fixed a statue of Scout in that moving floats train. Mohtarma Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani, Chief Commissioner, PBSA also visited the Azadi Special Train at Quetta.

A Special Ceremony in connection with the Independence Day Celebrations was held at Muzaffarabad, AJK in which Members of Provincial Council AJK, some educationists and rep of Girl Guide Association participated.

30TH DISTRICT EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING OF AIR SCOUTS DISTRICT

30th Air Scouts District Executive Committee Meeting held on 21th August, 2016 under the Supervision of District Commissioner Air Scouts Afzal Noor. DC thanked to all Members present in the meeting. Many important decisions have been taken in the meeting for the betterment of District.

13TH DISTRICT EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING OF ACADEMY DISTRICTAcademy District arranged its 13th District Executive Committee Meeting under the

supervision of District Commissioner Academy Musa Khan at PIA Head office on 24th

August 2016. Meeting started with the recitation of Holy Qur'aan. After recitation District

Secretary Muhammad Shahid Aleem welcomed to all members. District Commissioner

emphasized & suggested for further improvement in all the three sections to promote the

scouting. Various decisions were made for the betterment of Scouting.
