Pai Horácio Red Great Reserve 2013 CONCEPT A blend of the best varietal wines of each harvest to honour the founder of the company. VINTAGE YEAR The year of 2013 was normal in the Douro, not creating difficulties for the proper development of the vines. At the end of the cycle occurred some rain, which did not cause problems in the Douro Superior, so that grape ripening was slow and balanced allowing obtaining high quality wines. TECHNOLOGY The technology is minimalist, using granite lagares with mechanical maceration. After fermentation, with about a week of maceration, the wine was racked to stainless steel vats, where suspended solids settled. After the malolactic fermentation it was transferred to oak barrels, where aged for about six months. Bottling was done in July 2016, after slight fining and filtration. It was stabilized by the natural cold of two winters and therefore can form a faint sediment over time, which is harmless to the quality of the wine. APTITUDE Ready to drink, although it has conditions to improve complexity during the next 15 years. GRAPE VARIETIES Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz. CHEMICAL ANALYSIS Alcohol – 15% | Total Acidity – 5.6 g/L | Volatile Acidity – 0.6 g/L | pH – 3.69. TASTING NOTES Garnet color with great depth. The aroma shows the exuberance of ripe fruit and notes of fresh hay, wet earth, vanilla and spices. In the mouth, it surprises by the strength, velvety texture and aromatic richness, in a modern and attractive ensemble. SERVICE Pour at 15ºC, decantation is recommended. Indicated for celebration occasions to make roasted dishes shine.
