O&W Going Out Of Business M arch 29 Traffic on the N. Y. O&W Railway will halt at mignight next week Friday on the order of Federal Judge Sylvester J. Ryan. Cash the bankrupt line has on hand will then be ex- hausted. Despite many years of reprieves, efforts to salvage the 544-mile line as a going operation appear to be doomed. The line has been in bankruptcy since 1937. The demise of the road would undoubt edly ^ave come two months ago, but the receivers raised $227,000 through loans from shippers and citizens along its route. This money fumished enough cash to carry the road through March 29, but operating costs are ' stUl $135,000 above income. Gov. Harriman has appointed a committee to try to have the raU- road sold in operating condition rather than junk. Judge Ryan has also expressed hopes this could be done. There is the pos- sibUity that sections of the road may be sold in operating condi- tion to other railroads which con- nect with the O&W. The main line of the O&W goes through Delaware county from Sidney to the Beaverkill. Waltcm is on the main line. A branch ex- tends from that vUlage to Delhi. Qosing of the O&W may mean a spurt of business on the C^ats- kiU mountain branch of the New York Central. E. M. Decker of Andes has made arrangements to have feed shipments brought to ArkviUe if the O&W to Delhi is discontinued. Shandaken Shandaken. Traffic on the N. Y. O&W Railway will halt a t mignight next week Friday on the order of Federal Judge Sylvester J. Ryan. Cash the bankrupt line has on hand will then be exhausted.

There is the pos- sibUity tha t sections of the road may be sold in operating condition to other railroads which connect with the O&W.

The main line of the O&W goes through Delaware county from Sidney to the Beaverkill. Waltcm is on the main line. A branch extends from that vUlage to Delhi.

Qosing of the O&W may mean a spurt of business on the C^ats- kiU mountain branch of the New York Central. E. M. Decker of Andes has made arrangements to have feed shipments brought to ArkviUe if the O&W to Delhi is discontinued.
