There will be a strong Metro Police presence to ensure traffic is properly managed. Senior Superintendent Joyce Khuzwayo said, “Motorists should obey traffic rules and use the roads as directed to ease traffic flow.” She appealed to motorists to co-operate with Metro Police at all times and to “comply with information and road signs as some areas are tow-away zones.” The organisers are hoping for a sell-out crowd and estimate the raceday will inject R500-million into the regional. The hospital- ity industry alone is expected to make nearly R160-million. Gold Circle’s Ken Tweddell said, “The main contributors will be hospitality: hotels, restaurants and bed and breakfasts through- out the province; food, drink, clothing – a lot of people will spend their money on clothing in Durban. They come to the race meeting dressed to the nines. “Related services such as transport and air- fares will also benefit. What really makes it special is that it’s a great time of year. Durban’s winters are legendary.” ROAD CLOSURES FOR VODACOM JULY
