METRO Police have warned motorists toexpect delays and road closures nearGreyville Racecourse tomorrow as thou-sands flock to the Vodacom July.There will be a strong Metro Police presenceto ensure traffic is properly managed. SeniorSuperintendent Joyce Khuzwayo said,“Motorists should obey traffic rules and usethe roads as directed to ease traffic flow.”She appealed to motorists to co-operate withMetro Police at all times and to “complywith information and road signs as someareas are tow-away zones.”The organisers are hoping for a sell-outcrowd and estimate the raceday will injectR500-million into the regional. The hospital-ity industry alone is expected to make nearlyR160-million.Gold Circle’s Ken Tweddell said, “The maincontributors will be hospitality: hotels,restaurants and bed and breakfasts through-out the province; food, drink, clothing – a lotof people will spend their money on clothingin Durban. They come to the race meetingdressed to the nines.“Related services such as transport and air-fares will also benefit. What really makes itspecial is that it’s a great time of year.Durban’s winters are legendary.”
