These are questions you often must answer in a job interview!
1. What are your strengths?What are the good reasons why we
should hire you?Strength is a noun from “strong.”
Don’t be scared to say good things about yourself!
I am hard-working.I can communicate in English
I speak English.
I’m reliable
I’m honest.
2. What are your weaknesses?
When you answer this, also say something good with it:
My English still isn’t very good BUT
I’m studying very hard, and it’s getting better.
I don’t have much experience with this kind of work BUT
I can learn quickly.
3. List all your accomplishments and achievements.
OR a spoken question may be “What are some of your
accomplishments/achievements?
This is a question about things you have done in the past that will help
you do the job:
You can talk about school, other jobs, any other things you have done
that you have proud of.
I got a driver’s license.I have been studying at Laney
College for two years.
I graduated from high school (OR university in ____________.
4. What are your interests?
This question is really about hobbies, what you like to do in your
free time.
I like to cook.I like shopping.
I like dancing.
I play the guitar.
I like to go fishing.
5. What are your short-term goals?
What are you trying to do right now?
This a question about what kind of job you are looking for right now.
I would like to get a job like this one.
I want to get an AA degree/a cosmetology certificate/license
I want to work in construction.
I’d like a job in a restaurant.
I’d like a job in retail = selling in a store.
I need to learn English well.
6. What are your long-term goals?
Think about five or ten years from now. What to do in the future after you get
and education, when you speak English well?
I plan to get a B.A. degree and become a teacher.
I would like to start my own business.
7. What are some things you like?
Think about things you like that are important to your work situation.
I like to work with numbers.I enjoy working with other people.
I like working outdoors
I’m a morning person. I like working early in the morning OR I like to work
at night.
8. What are some things that you dislike?
Be careful. Don’t say that you dislike something that you will need to do
for this job!
I dislike working with smokers.I dislike lazy people = people
who don’t pull their own weight.

9. Why should we hire you?
Think about the reasons why you would be good in this job.
(Try to list about three different things at least.)
