ACCIDENTS• A report was received at 3:32
p.m. Tuesday of an accident thathad occurred Friday night. A 2000Chrysler Town and Country and a1998 Ford F150 collided in the 2100block of Valley Road. Estimatedvalue of the damage to the vehicleswas $4,800 and $1,500, respective-ly.
• A report was received at 8:53a.m. Wednesday that a Yukon wasbacked into a Nissan in the 1000block of Walnut St. and then left thescene.
• A sheriff’s office report wasreceived at 8:48 p.m. Tuesday that a1996 GMC pickup driven by aTyndall man collided with a deer onHighway 50 near Highway 52.Estimated value of the damage to
the vehicle was $1,850.
ARRESTS• Lowell Harmer Jr., 49, Yankton,
was arrested Tuesday on a SouthDakota Department of Correctionshold.
INCIDENTS• A report was received at 9:49
p.m. Tuesday that a 15-year-oldmale had assaulted his mother inthe 300 block of Bunker Lane. Theboy was spoken with by police aboutbeing respectful.

S.D. Quilters Spring Retreat April 9-11HURON — The South Dakota
Quilters’ Guild Spring Retreatwill be held at the CrossroadsConvention Center in HuronApril 9-11.
Events begin at 7 p.m. Fridaywith a Mystery Sewcial whichinvolves sewing a quilt by fol-lowing clues given by instruc-tors, Carolyn Halgrimson andMary Lou Urban. The vendorswill be open beginning Fridayevening with fabrics, patterns,books and sewing machines. Asnack which includes a sand-wich, salad and chips is on themenu for Friday evening.Beginning at 5 p.m. you maypick up registrations for classesand meal tickets and also signup for show and tell.
Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m.,there will be three quilt classes.Kandi Paige Gallup will beteaching “A New Way toApplique.” Kandi is a quiltdesigner for her company BeeCreek Quilting Company ofOmaha, Nebraska. Pat Minksclass is “Miniature Stack andWhack” as miniatures are herfavorites. Linda Louder’s classis “Pineapple Delight” whichinvolves learning how to use thePineapple Ruler.
There will be free quiltingdemonstrations going onthroughout the day. Saturday atnoon will be the business meet-ing and show and tell. Saturdayevening will be a banquet with atrunk show by Kandi Paige
Gallup. Door prizes and tablefavors will be given away at thenoon luncheon and the banquet.
Sunday morning, two classeswill be taught. The classesinclude a banner class by Kandiand a Snowball & Nine-Patchclass by Pat. The vendors willbe open until around noon onSunday.
