Burial followed in the New Prospect Cemetery, Henderson under the direction of Garmon Funeral Home. Ms. Bettie Ann Nichols was born March 17, 1955 in Rusk County, to Ms. Ollie Valle Nichols. She gave her life to Christ at the Lone Star Baptist Church in Henderson and was a mem- ber of the choir where she sung next to many of her family members. Bettie Ann attended and graduated from Hender- son High School in Hender- son. In the late 1970s, she moved to California where she began her career working in the kitchen as the lead cook at Faithful Central Educational Center and Heavenly Vision Educational Center. She also worked as a direct care provider to elderly peo- ple. Bettie Ann Nichols gave birth to her only child, De’Andre Nichols in 1987 in Los Angeles, Calif. In 1994, Bettie became a member of True Zion Mission- ary Baptist Church, as a mem- ber of True Zion, she also sang in the choir and cooked for the various church events. In 2016, Ms. Nichols relocated to Las Vegas, Nev. to live with her son as a result of health issues. Preceding Ms. Nichols in death were her mother, Ms. Ollie Valle Nichols and her grandparents, Ms. Ollie Nich- ols and Floyd Nichols. On July 12, 2019, the Lord called Ms. Bettie Ann Nichols home to rest from her labor at her home in Las Vegas, Nev. She leaves to cherish and carry on her memories of love and compassion: her son: De’Andre Nichols; broth- ers, Bo Nichols and Lonnie Nichols; sister, Lula Andrews; auntie’s, Louise Hill, Joanna Sanders, Lillie Cage and Roxie Streeter; uncles, Pete Nichols and David Nichols. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until ser- vice time on Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Taylor passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at her residence. She was born Jan. 30, 1925, in the Chapman community to the late Joseph Edward “Eddie” and Mary Anna (Annie) Gentry Jones. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at the age of 14. On Jan. 1, 1947 she married Marine James R. Tay- lor. After their marriage, Mrs. Taylor brought her husband to church where he also accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and together they served the Lord in their community. In 1951, her hus- band surrendered to the call to preach and she became a preacher’s wife. They then moved their fam- ily to Henderson as a student family at Texas Baptist Insti- tute Seminary. After their time at TBI, she became a pastor’s wife as she served along side her husband in the follow- ing churches over the course of 53 years of his ministry. Aiken Grove Baptist Church in Clarksville; Smyrna Baptist Church near Gould, Ark., Calvary Bap- tist Church in Dumas, Ark.; Temple Bap- tist Church in Wichita, Kan.; Bethel Baptist Church near Tatum, and finally County Line Baptist Church in Timpson where they had a special love for the mem- bers and served there for 35 years. Jim and Charlcye were married for 64 years until his death in 2011. Mrs. Taylor was an amazing secretary. She worked at Hen- derson Daily News for many years as a type setter and proof reader. She then worked as a secre- tary for 32 years at Texas Bap- tist Institute before she retired. The last few years of her life here on earth Mrs. Taylor was a loving and faithful member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in the Stewart com- munity. Mrs. Taylor was well known for her love of people and her hospitality. She frequently enjoyed visitors in her home throughout her life. Known as Mema by her grandchildren and great grand- children, everyone knew where to go for a good home cooked meal, a game of Texas 42, or just to talk about life. Mrs. Tay- lor was truly a blessing to all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was welcomed into Heav- en by her husband, James R. Taylor; and brothers, Trenton Jones, Joe Ed Jones and TC Jones. Remaining loved ones here on earth include: daughters, Connie Peveler and husband Tom of Henderson, Janie Clark and husband Paul of Hillsboro, Patricia Appelbee and hus- band Steve of Madison, Miss.; grandchildren, Darby War- ren and wife Suzanne, Christi Parker and husband Jason, Susie Littleton and husband Michael, Stacie Maness and husband Scott, Jason Clark and wife Angie, Sarah Bach- man and husband Justin, Jill Layne and husband Allen, Jus- tin Appelbee and wife Lauren; 27 great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; two step great great-grandchil- dren, many extended family and beloved friends whom she hopes to meet again one day in Glory. Pallbearers will be Darby Warren, Jason Parker, Michael Littleton, Jason Clark, Justin Bachman and Justin Appelbee.
