PAG – Expanding verbs using adverbs

Let’s remind ourselves what verbs and adverbs are!

Verbs are action words. They are used to describe the action taking

place in the sentence.

For example,

The rainbow fish is swimming

Adverbs are words that can be used to describe adjectives or verbs.

They give the reader more information.

For example,

The rainbow fish is swimming quickly.

Task 1: Silly sentences!

Using as many colours as you like, have a go at writing some silly sentences that contain

verbs and adverbs. You could even write them in a pattern if you like.

Using a verb and an adverb, improve the sentences.

Challenge: Rewrite the sentence to create a different picture in the reader’s head

underneath using different verbs and adverbs?
