• ONDRAF/NIRAS is responsible for the legal management of radioactive waste on Belgian territory

Two government contracts assigned to Transnubel:

• Period 2019-2022: NOCA 2017-1296

o Transport of unconditioned and conditioned radioactive waste

• Period 2019-2028: NOCA 2017-1182

o Transport of unconditioned and conditioned radioactive waste in 400l drums with a type B packaging

Classification of packagings

Classification according to SSR-6 (Regulations for the Safe Transport of Radioactive Material):

• Excepted packagings

• Industrial packagings (IP-1-2-3)

Two possible options:

• Either the collection unit (CU) is certified as transport package

• Or the collection unit (CU) is transported in a certified transport package

Mobile tank type IP-2 with a capacity of +/- 20 m³:

• Transport of radioactive liquids

• The storage tanks at NPP Tihange have reached maximum capacity

– storage of additional spent resin occurs in the TNB 182 packaging

• Package design, safety file and testing by TNB

• An ISO-structure packaging consisting of two pressure vessels, for storage and transport of spent resins up to LSA-II

• Capacity is 2 x 2,41 m³

• Type B(U) packaging with a large cavity
