supplemented with packaging instructions and packaging data sheets.

A packing instruction in the SAP ERP system defines :

o which materials are packed and in what quantity

o the method of packing and the packaging materials used

Motivation for the solution

o With the Packaging Data Sheet material-specific packaging details within a customer-vendor

relationship should be documented in a standardized way and exchanged between the partners.

o The documents should be stored centrally in the SAP ERP system. A versioning should be

possible. All necessary information exist in the SAP ERP system

o Replacement of historically grown Excel/Access/Word solutions to avoid duplicate data storages

o Based on the VDA-recommendation 4931 – Packaging Data Sheet
