Thomas Cook North America Pricing Case Study Thomas Cook chose Inventive’s Package Price Manager System (PPM) to manage pricing for their North American Tour Operating Business, Sunquest in 2010. Package Price Manager (PPM) is designed to manage yield for Tour Operators with committed risk on flying and accommodation, providing a flexible scalable solution to manage pricing for high volumes of inventory in the seat only and package holiday markets. Inventive’s PPM application is fully integrated into Thomas Cook’s reservation system TTS. The PPM system receives booking and inventory data from Thomas Cook’s Reservation System (TTS) and a competitor price data feed. Pricing rules can be configured within the system based on current load factor, projected load factor, competitor pricing and margin. The system then suggests price changes that are either fed into an approval process or applied automatically. PPM’s dashboard based drill down interface ensures that the yielding team’s attention is drawn to areas with commercial performance problems, enabling them to quickly access and review detailed management information, implementing manual price changes immediately. The system also maintains a full audit log of all Sunquest and competitor price changes, enabling detailed Analytics of historical commercial data. Since going live with the system in 2010, Thomas Cook have realised significant cost savings through improved performance within their pricing teams - enabling fewer staff members to manage more inventory more efficiently.
