  • 1Photo DesignDescriptionDemonstrate good photography, and image editing skills, as well as incorporating a color scheme into a poster layout with an original photo.

    DateMay 23, 2015

    CourseComm 130

    Program/ToolsAdobe Phtoshop

ObjectivesI wanted to make a inspirational poster for people to use. I chose to take a peaceful, and calming color scheme to inspire people.

ProcessI began by choosing the color scheme I wanted from the FOCUS book. I chose a Triadic color scheme and I went to take a good photo with good lighting, and a sharp focus on my main subject. I used my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX78 camera to take this photo. I then took the photo into photoshop and used these editing techniques: levels, sharpness, saturation, blur, and soft healing brush. I then designed a 8.511 layout that included my photo, text and repeating design elements. I used my color scheme in my text, layout and swatches. I used the eye drop tool to make sure my colors were exactly what I wanted. I enjoyed finding a good placement for my elements, I really enjoyed being able to make it seem that my subject was reading the text that I had placed. It gave my piece flow and life.

    Program/ToolsAdobe PhotoShop

ObjectivesI wanted to make a poster that would blend multiple images into one.

ProcessI began by selecting my images, and opening them in PhotoShop. After I did that I moved my image of space onto my lightpost. I then went in and selected the women using the quick select tool, and refining her edges. Then I moved her onto my image and used a layer mask in order to blend her in cleanly. I also did the same to my image of space blending it into my background.

    CourseComm 130

    Program/ToolsAdobe InDesign

ObjectivesTo teach people what Celestial Works is all about. What they are involved in and how they have progressed the field.

ProcessI began by creating a logo for my company in Adobe Illustrator, then I created a new file in Adobe InDesign. I set guide lines in order to give my brochure a offset alignment. I planed to make it a single fold so I made the first page my front and back, and my second page was my inside. Then I found all of my images I wanted to use to convey my message. I wrote up my body copy in word and transferred it into text boxes in InDesign. The next think I did was editing my image of my astronaut so it was just a outline. I did this by using Adobe Photoshop and the quick selection tool. I positioned all of my images into my brochure as well as my text. Then I added a text wrap to my astronaut.

    Program/ToolsAdobe Illistrator

Objectives To show multiple possible logos for a crusie line.

ProcessI began by choosing a company for this project. Once I had chosen to do this organization I began to sketch some different ideas. I created several different looks in Illustrator, then after making a few, I narrowed it down to this design. I created the Trident, by manipulating several shapes, and lines just how I wanted them. I also spent quite a lot of time picking a font, then once I had selected it, I manipulated the Initials, and gave them points, and extended them with the pen tool. I used Adobe Illustrator exclusively for this project.

    Program/ToolsTextWrangler and Adobe Photoshop

ObjectivesTo inform people of this companys goal of ridding the world of monsters.

ProcessI have never used HTML or CSS before I did this project so it was a lot of fun to learn how to use these skills. I used only TextWrangler for this part of my project. It was slow going to begin with, but I eventually got the hang of it and began to have some fun with this project. After I had added all of my content I went into the CSS file provided for me, and linked it to my HTML file. After doing this, I began to make changes to my CSS. I then used the colors in my logo to create a monochromatic color scheme within my body.I got those colors by using the adobe Photoshop eye drop tool. I then changed my background of my webpage to a image by creating a link in my html. I also changed my heading to Centabl font and all of my body copy into Josefin Sans. I also gave substitute font choices to the CSS. I centered my logo, and changed the width of my body.

ObjectivesTo create a proffestional stationary that the buiesness can use for all offical documents.

ProcessI created a new InDesign file for my letter head. I placed the logo in the top left corner, and then used monochromatic rectangles under it to create a letter head. Then I used just the symbol to create a watermark on my letterhead. I used Adobe Illustrator, and InDesign.

FlierDescription A black and white flyer promoting a graduate leadership conference

    DateMau 9,2015

    CourseComm 130

    Program/ToolsAdobe InDesign

ObjectivesI wanted to reach recent collage graduates, who wanted an edge in the business world by becoming a good leader. This flier was meant to inform them of a conference that would help them gain that edge.

ProcessI began by sketching out my layout, then using that sketch as a guide I created this flyer in Adobe InDesign. I used a grayscale background in order to create flow, and guide the viewers eyes down across this design. I used a dark grey box in order to draw attention to one word in my title, and to provide a contrast I made the font white. I used white space to draw more attention to my body of text, which I kept small. I was given the image, text and logo for this flier.
