THE NEW Makita 18 V DTS141Oil Pulse impact driver intro-duces a new form of hydraulictransmission that delivers im-pact power whilst substantiallyreducing the machine’s operat-ing vibration and noise levels. With existing impact drivers inthe Makita range, the impact ac-tion is metal-to-metal with thehigh speed action damped bysprings. In the Oil Pulse versionhydraulic oil is compressed by arevolutionary rotary drive trainand the hydraulic pressure pro-

motes the impact action. Thenew Makita DTS141 gives twoimpacts per rotation of the 1/4hex driving shank.

Whilst maximum tighteningtorque is limited to 40 Nm — ade-quate capacity for the majority ofassembly and installation tasks —the impact noise generated bythis driver is significantly less thanthose in the current range. Themaximum sound pressure level is77dB(A) against the 96dB(A) of thetraditional products. Similarly, theOil Pulse system dramatically

slashes the vibration rating of theDTS141 down to 7.0 m/s2 againstan established rating of 12.5 m/s2

for the Makita DTD148 driver. Bothfeatures, low noise and vibration, are particularly attractive inmodern assembly areas such aswhite goods manufacturing andsome automotive assembly posi-tions where, if a number of impactdrivers are being used at the sametime, the ambient noise levelcould be unacceptably high.

The new Makita DTS141 brush-less impact driver features thethree-stage impact power andshaft speed selection deliveringup to 2,700 impact blows perminute and running up to 3,200rpm in max power selection. Thisis suitable for M8 machine screws,M6 high tensile bolts and 125 mmcoarse thread screws. This bodyonly model has the benefit of Ex-treme Protection Technology —XPT — protecting againstweather and dust ingress for longlife and rugged reliability. Thecompact DTS141 impact driverhas a 136 mm overall length, weighs just 1.5 kg, has an LED joblight and electric brake, andcomes in a neat, high impact Mac-Pac case.Makita (UK) LtdTel 01908 211678Email [email protected]

COMBILIFT had plenty to celebrate at this year’sUK FLTA Awards ceremony as it came away withtwo trophies to add to its already extensive col-lection of awards from the association that ithas amassed over the past few years.

As well as developing innovative products formore productive materials handling, Combilift fo-cuses on delivering machines which offer preciseand easy operation and winning the ErgonomicsCategory for its Rotating Operator Console un-derlines its commitment to providing the bestpossible environment for the operator.

The console allows 90° rotation of the operatorand controls within the cabin. Simple joystick op-eration activates the hydraulic rotation of the seat, steering column, pedals and mast controls, allow-ing operators to face the load while manipulatingit in confined spaces. The suspension seat andsteering column are fully adjustable to operatorrequirements for further comfort.

Commenting on the award FLTA chief execu-tive, Peter Harvey, said: “The rotating operatorcompartment from Combilift is a prime example

of the drive to keep fork lift truck operators com-fortable and safe, while achieving the highestlevels of productivity and efficiency.”

After Josh Moffett had accepted the award onbehalf of Combilift there was further recognitionfor the family name when his father, Robert Mof-fett, Combilift’s technical director, was the recipi-ent of the FLTA’s highest honour: the LifetimeAchievement Award — although Robert is keento point out that he is not ready to take thingseasy just yet and plans to develop many otheraward winning products in the years to come!

Robert’s name is synonymous with the successof the Moffett Mounty truck-mounted forklifts andhis engineering expertise and vision has been akey factor in the rapid growth and global reach ofCombilift since he established the company withMD Martin McVicar in 1998.

“It is fair to say that Robert has always donethings a little differently,” said the FLTA. “He is aproblem solver who solves problems before therest of us have even realised there is a problem, andhis fearlessness — accompanied by almost super-

natural energy — has proved him to be both a cre-ative genius and a hugely successful entrepreneur.”

Combilift will once again be exhibiting at alarge stand in the outdoor area at Ligna plus astand in the Halls. Over a dozen products from thecompany’s ever expanding range will be on show, including new models. As to be expected therewill also be dancing trucks and Combilift’s usualhospitality area with Guinness and other refresh-ments on tap.

CELEBRATING 25 years in business, J & C O’Meara is marking the an-niversary with a series of special offers available through its website.

In 1990, service engineers and father and son team Joseph and CarlO’Meara set up their company, selling quality woodworking machinery.Twenty five years on, the company is still family owned and is now run bybrother and sister Carl and Karen O’Meara, and is still independent.

As an independent company, Carl says, “The great advantage of this isthat we get to choose what we sell: we can seek out quality products frommanufacturers around the world.”

When selecting machinery, the engineering of the product is moreimportant to Carl than the sales margin: that way he can be sure themachinery he is selling will be durable, reliable and will work well for theend user.

The belief in the quality of the products sold is backed up by theunderstanding of industrial requirements when it comes to after salesservice and long term care.

The company has a number of sales and service partners throughoutthe UK which not ony offers better access to its products but should theneed arise offers a rapid response in the event of after sales requirement. The other advantage, of course, is that over the long term havinglocalised technicians keeps running costs to a minimum.

Today, J & C supplies everything from bandsaws to woodwelders, andis marking the company’s 25th anniversary witha series of special offers on its website which in-clude classical machines, briquetting machines, edge banders, dust extractors and more.

THE SHARPENING of carbide tipped circular saw blades has now beentaken to a new level of productivity and precision with the launch ofthe new Vollmer CHC840 and CHC grinding machines. This next gen-eration of grinding centres provide the ultimate in flexibility for theprocessing of saw blades up to 840 mm and 1,300 mm diameters.

With four CNC controlled axes, the new CHC line provides accurategrinding of virtually all tooth geometries in a single cycle. The result forthe customer is improved circular saw blade quality and tool life with in-novative geometries that will exceed existing performance levels. All thisis generated through a user friendly platform that has been developed forease of use, flexibility and optimal productivity levels.

The flexibility and user friendliness of the new CHC840 and CHC1300is provided via a new multi-function hand wheel that selectsand controls the axes through a single module. The handwheel avoids operator error and it can also be used as a po-tentiometer to conduct speed adjustments when running inautomatic mode.

This optimises machining times and improves surface fin-ishes through the variable input of speeds for different sur-faces. To support the elimination of operator error, the newCHC provides a feed pawl sensor system to eradicate thetooth pitch input whilst digital detection modules preventerrors by automatically adjusting the hook and clearanceangles.

Whereas these features simplify machining and eliminateoperational errors, the ergonomics of the new CHC range in-clude large 10 inch colour LCD display and a large viewingwindow to enhance the aesthetics and functionality of themachine.

From a productivity standpoint, the new CHC840 andCHC1300 has oscillating grinding as standard for high mate-rial removal rates in just one cycle. In addition, the machinehas a motor driven hook and clearance angle adjustment for

a rapid changeover from face to top grinding. This feature, along with op-timum movement co-ordination that creates a shortened grinding time, ensures that the CHC is what is believed to be the most productive ma-chine available for the sharpening of carbide tipped circular saw blades.

The CHC series has a capacity for saw blades from 80 mm to 1,300 mmdiameter with a minimum bore diameter of 10 mm and a workpieceweight up to 30 kg for the CHC840 and 80 kg on the CHC1300. Capableof processing blades up to 8 mm wide with a cutting width of 12 mm,the new CHC line is an ideal addition to any mill or manufacturer of highquality saw blades.Vollmer UK Ltd l Tel 0115 949 1040Email [email protected] l www.vollmer-group.com

Massive Lamont matrix table for Laminates LtdLAMINATES Ltd is one of theUK’s leading specialists in themanufacture and distribution ofbespoke kitchen worktops andancillary products. Operatingfrom three premises within theUK, Laminates supplies a widerange of laminate worktops, splashbacks, gables andwindowsills, supplying to cus-

tomers throughout England,Scotland and Wales.

Recently, the company investedin a massive 5.3 m x 2.2 m matrixtable, purchased from Lamont.

“We have been in business for30 years,” Laminates’ Andrew Rud-diforth told PW&SS, “and for thepast 20 years we have gone downthe CNC route of getting machin-

ery to do a lot of the work. How-ever, there are still a lot of thingsthe machines don’t do, especiallyon the bespoke side of things, andfor the handmade product, thematrix table from Lamont allowsus to apply pressure to edging be-fore the glue sets, for example: wehad been using hand held clampswhich is quite time consuming so,

by using this system, weare able to maintain thehighest quality standardswith our handmadeproducts but in a moreefficient way.”

Andrew had spoken toAlan Lamont of Lamont,as well as consulting theLamont website, and wasimpressed with what hesaw and heard.

“Alan understoodwhat we wanted. We didnot really feel the need tolook elsewhere: alterna-tive quotes were ob-tained, but were not asrelevant to our needs asthat from Lamont. WhatAlan provided was ex-

actly what we were looking for.”The new super-size matrix table

has allowed Laminates to main-tain the hand made aspect of itsproduct, alongside the CNCautomation.

“The main advantage of thematrix table is the speed in whichwe can manufacture our productwithout any loss of quality,” saidAndrew.

The matrix table is used for awide range of bespoke products:exhibition stands, worktables, framing panels and more.

When asked if he would recom-mend it, Andrew responded en-thusiastically: “Yes, absolutely!”

He continued, “The service hasbeen excellent. Alan has alwayskept us up to date and answeredany questions we had; he maderecommendations that wouldbest suit our needs and visited usto understand our requirements. We were very pleased with theservice we received.”LamontTel 01461 40017Email [email protected]

STANWELL School, located inPenarth near Cardiff, has an out-standing academic record. Itwas established over 100 yearsago and now provides educa-tion for over 2,000 pupils in the11-18 age group, with a growingnumber of pupils coming upthrough the Design & Technol-ogy department, and with Alevel grades well above the na-tional average.

This department used to have alarge combination machine incor-porating circular saw, spindlemoulder and planer/thicknesser;however after many years’ use, with a growing number of partsfailing on it, and with the manu-facturers no longer in business, the decision was made to replaceit with individual machines. Oncethat decision had been made, andwith the purchase of a rip saw andplaner/thicknesser, it raised theproblem of how to cut largesheets in a small, compact work-shop, where the school regularlyneeds to process 8 ft x 4 ft ply. Thisis used, for example, in prepara-tion of materials in product designwhere the students have to made3-D versions, and also by themaintenance department forpreparation of materials for gen-eral maintenance projects aroundthe school.

Nick Gifford, head of the de-partment, recognised that only avertical panel saw could be ac-commodated, and ordered one ofBritish manufacturer Sagetech’sKoolkut machines from DB Keigh-ley, one of its distributors, last No-vember. Clearly one of the factorsthat influenced his decision, andof key importance in a school en-vironment, is machine safety. Thisis where vertical panel saws, recognised under the CE accredi-tation scheme, are acknowledgedas much safer than table saws, with their exposed blade. In thecase of the Sagetech machines, itis a two-handed operation, sohands are well away from beingnear the blade; it is a “hold to run”,so machines cannot be left run-ning unattended, and on releaseof the controls, the blade immedi-ately retracts back into the guard, and electronic braking stops themachine in under three seconds.

Stanwell’s KK12 is the smallestin Sagetech’s Koolkut KK range, which extends to machines with acapacity of 3.1 x 2.1 m, so fully ca-

pable of handling the larger plas-tic 3 x 2 m sheets and the big“jumbo” timber based panels.Sagetech now offers the KF rangewith similar sizes in its Koolkutbrand, along with the Zapkutranges for those with lighter cut-ting requirements. These includethe company’s lightweightportable saw, believed to beunique. This innovative Britishmanufacturer is now extendingthe capability of its ranges by of-fering router heads with most ofits machines.

As Nick said, “The service wasexcellent, with the price beingvery attractive, and the machinewas delivered direct to the door.”The technician, David, added: “Ican even handle one inch ply onmy own, whereas before on theold combination, it would takethree of us, and getting all of us to-gether all at the same time is noteasy. What I also like is that it is alot more accurate, and the cutquality is significantly better.”David also said the machine waseasy to set up and to use.

When proudly displaying hisnew vertical panel saw to DerekJones, the school’s head teacher,Nick was commended for his pur-chase. He added, “The dust extrac-tion works really well, whereasbefore they had debris every-where, now we are working with amuch cleaner environment.”

In summing up, Nick explained“This machine gives a more pro-

fessional feel to the workshop, helping us to tidy it up and en-abling us to work much better, andI am happy to recommend it toothers who are welcome to con-

tact me. It is a fantastic bit of kit.”Sagetech LtdTel 0118 970 1950Email [email protected]

VOLLMER has now taken the sharpening of gang saw blades to a newlevel of speed and precision with the recent introduction of its newCAG200 gang saw sharpening machine. Incorporating advancedgrinding technology with an intelligent control system, the CAG200is believed to be the benchmark in processing gang saw blades up to200 mm.

Packed into the extremely robust enclosure is an economically attrac-tive machine concept that combines flexibility, precision and ease of usewithin a highly productive sharpening ma-chine. The principle of the new CAG200 seesa grinding head moved by two CNC con-trolled axes over the saw blade, which isclamped over the entire surface. This per-mits the sequential grinding of each toothin a single clamping arrangement.

Like many of the new Vollmer grindingsolutions, the CAG200 is ergonomicallymanufactured with operator ease of use atthe forefront of the design process. This de-sign philosophy sees the CAG200 provide a10 inch colour LCD display on a swivelmounted panel, a large viewing window anda large door to simplify blade loading for theoperator.

Unlike alternate grinding machines, theCAG200 sees Vollmer introduce a completelynew generation of machine technology.Whilst alternate manufacturers move thesaw blade, the CAG200 clamps the wholeblade for the two-axis grinding head to movealong the blade. The two axis head permitsthe processing of the tooth pitch, height andshape. This forward thinking techniqueminimises vibration, improves surface fin-ishes and guarantees a consistently high

quality and precision level over the length of the complete saw blade. The manufacturing philosophy of the CAG200, believed to be unique,

further enhances surface finishes and consistency with a clamping de-sign that will hold the blade as close as 2 mm below the grinding point. The clamping support also enables higher stock removal rates for in-creased productivity and reduced cycle times. To generate faster pro-duction cycles, the CAG200 also has an extremely powerful grindingmotor that drives a large grinding wheel for optimum results. To maintain

tooth quality and precision when conduct-ing high stock removal rates, the CAG200can be used as a wet grinding machine.

Capable of processing saw blades from60-200 mm with a grinding wheel diametercapacity up to 350 mm, the CAG200 takesproductivity to a whole new plateau. Suit-able for machining blades from 1.4 mm to2.6 mm thick with a tooth length from 800 to1,500 mm and pitch from 15 to 40 mm, theCAG200 caters for all possibilities. To processblades in this dimension range, the CAG200includes a heavy duty 2.2 kW motor thatdrives the grinding wheel at 45 m/sec. To de-liver stability when machining at such highmaterial removal rates, Vollmer has provideda heavy duty base that take the machineweight to a sturdy 2,300 kg. This is packedinto a footprint of 995 mm deep by 2,760mm wide by 1,940 mm high. Conceived asthe true all-rounder for processing gangsaws, the CAG200 ensures easy and safemachining with excellent grinding results.Vollmer UK LtdTel 0115 949 1040Email [email protected]

COMPACT, lightweight and easy to transport, the new CTL SYS dust extractor integratesperfectly into the systainer system from Festool.

Suitable for class L dust, the CTL SYS is equipped with the T-LOC jointing system used onFestool systainers, meaning that it can be connected easily to other tools. It also connects tothe SYS Roll or SYS Cart, providing optimum workplace organisation and transportation.

Measuring 270 mm in height, and only 6.9 kg in weight, the CTL SYS is small, lightweightand compact. If the hose garage is removed, the height of the unit is reduced to 162 mmand at 67 dB, the CTL SYS is particularly quiet when in operation. “We have developed ournew SYSTAINER extractor specifically for all situations where a tradesman would think twiceabout bringing a dust extractor at all,” said product manager, Andreas Buck.

Its impressive suction power and Festool-standard hose-machine connections allow dustto be extracted from all assembly tools when working. Thanks to an integrated nozzle store, tradesmen always have everything within easy reach and can quickly store things again with-out taking up space.

Mr Buck continues: “During the development process, we took care to ensure that no partscan get lost and that everything is stored in a neat, compact system. A particularly practical

feature is theclever hosestorage systemcontained inthe device it-self. This en-sures that thehose does notprotrude fromthe unit andtherefore can-not get caught on anything during transport.” All of the services includedin the “Service all-inclusive” service package, believed to be unique, alsoapply for the new CTL SYS.Festool l www.festool.co.uk l www.festool.co.uk/dustfree

THE TEAM at Wood Waste Tech-nology has been busy installingnew biomass hot water boilersystems, to help companiesmaximise the returns availablefrom the Renewable Heat Incen-tive scheme.

One of the boilers has been in-stalled into Bill Cleyndert & Com-pany, a leading manufacturer ofexquisite bespoke furniture, cabi-netry and specialist joinery basedin Fakenham, Norfolk.

Bill Cleyndert & Companywanted to reduce waste disposalcosts and save money on the oiland propane that was being usedto heat the factory. By investing ina biomass boiler, the waste woodfrom production could be burnedto create free heating for the fac-tory, and heating and hot waterfor the office areas.

Wood Waste Technology wasthe chosen supplier, due to thecompany’s excellent reputationand sophisticated product engi-neering. Its new biomass waterboiler has been declared fullycompliant with the RHI schemewithout the need for additionalflue gas filtration equipment or ce-ramic filters, significantly reducingthe investment and on-goingmaintenance costs of a RHI com-pliant boiler. The boiler has alsobeen tirelessly tested with some ofthe most difficult and pollutantfuel waste, including melaminefaced chipboard and MDF, and inevery test, the boiler has stayedwithin the extremely stringent RHIemission regulations for both NOxand particulate. The boilers can

also operate in clean air zonesunder the Clean Air Act, meaningthe water boilers now meet thetwo highest standards in emis-sions regulations and are able tobe used in even the sternest of ju-risdictions in the UK.

The team at Wood Waste Tech-nology was able to set up the newboiler to integrate with the currentoffice heating system using a plateheat exchanger. At the same time, the engineers also installed a newextraction system to improve theventilation in the factory, plus aGross Apparatebau GmbH shred-der to shred the wood off-cuts. In-stead of using a traditional airtransfer system, the team at WoodWaste Technology installed a con-veyor to provide a quieter, moreenergy efficient solution.

The boiler was installed into adedicated boiler-house next to the

28,000 ft2 factory, and uses sixstrategically placed 50 W air-handling units to distribute thewarm air from the boiler to whereit is needed, to keep the 55workers warm whilst working.

Director, Mandi Cleyndert said:“We did thorough research beforeordering the new system and esti-mate that we should be able to re-duce our waste disposal costs byaround 75% a year, whilst savingmoney on heating and hot water. We can even utilise the sawdustthat accumulates from produc-tion, as it simply gets fed into theboiler to burn.”

The Government’s RenewableHeat Incentive (RHI) offers sub-stantial financial benefits to com-panies who invest in new biomasstechnology, for example, thescheme could be worth around£20,000-£25,000 on average a year

to a company fitting a WW199boiler, and runs for 20 years onceaccredited. Wood Waste Technol-ogy’s boilers have been designedand tested to BSEN303-5-2012, thehighest standard for efficiency andemissions, allowing customers tomaximise their return from the RHIscheme by getting more moneyfrom every kilogram of fuel burnt.

Managing director of WoodWaste Technology, Kurt Cockroft, says: “The value of RHI payments isregularly reviewed, so companiesthinking about biomass technol-ogy should find out more as soonas possible. For example, at theend of December 2014 the pay-ment level dropped by 10%.”

Wood Waste Technology’s yearsof expertise in wood waste solu-tions have helped many com-panies reduce their waste disposaland heating costs. As well as offer-ing site survey, design, manufac-ture, installation and on-goingmaintenance for new units, thecompany also services all types ofwood waste heaters and suppliesgenuine spares.

ECOGATE Ltd, the distributor ofECOGATE® energy-saving dustextraction technology, has ap-pointed Cades Ltd as an autho-rised installer.

Bradford-based, Cades Ltd is thelatest major UK dust extraction spe-cialist to partner Ecogate Ltd. Eco-gate is a proven energy-savingextraction optimisation system de-veloped by California-based Eco-gate Inc and has an impressive trackrecord of successful applications inthe UK. As an authorised installer,Cades can offer its customers thecomplete Ecogate product range, including variable speed drives. Itwill also undertake energy-savingsurveys, as well as full installationand commissioning of Ecogate ex-traction optimisation systems.

Commenting on the move SteveRhodes, sales director at Cades, said: “Being able to offer the energy-saving benefits of Ecogate, to-gether with our exclusive UKdistributorship for Moldow high-technology filters, will considerablystrengthen our all-round dust andfume extraction capability.”

Ecogate Ltd claims that installingits ‘Extraction-on-Demand’ systemwill slash electricity bills by up to80% and will typically pay for itself

in just two years. In most work-shops, as little as 50% of machinerymay be in operation at any giventime, but dust extraction usuallyruns at full capacity, with fixed fanspeed, all of the time. The outcomeis an extraction system which islikely to be consuming more elec-tricity than all the lights and all themachinery put together. An Eco-

gate system employs a central con-troller, automatic motorised gates, remote machine sensors and vari-able speed technology. When awoodworking machine is turnedon, the sensor signals the controllerto open the motorised gate of thatparticular machine to provide ex-traction and the controller deter-mines the optimum fan speed. DUST Control Systems has recently installed an energy-efficient dust extraction system for leading fitted furnituremanufacturer, Roundel Manufacturing Ltd.

Roundel operates from three manufacturing and distri-bution centres in Tyne & Wear and specialises in the design, planning and installation of fitted kitchen, bedroom andbathroom furniture for major retailers and house buildersacross the UK.

The family-owned business was founded in 1969 by presentChairman, Geoff Oman, and his brother Lindsey, who is man-aging director.

From the simple beginnings as a modest kitchen retail shopin South Shields, the business has grown into one of the UK’spremium suppliers of fitted furniture.

Today, with a workforce of 175, the company is a supplier toleading industry names, delivering nationwide via its owntransport fleet.

As part of its ongoing investment in infrastructure, Roundelhas recently expanded the manufacturing capacity of its site atSeaton Burn, Newcastle upon Tyne.

Home to Roundel’s Nixons Kitchens operation, the site spe-cialises in the design, manufacture and installation of bespokekitchens for the retail sector.

Fronted by a prestigious kitchen showroom, the centre haswell-equipped workshops which have the full in-house capa-bility to manufacture all aspects of quality cabinetry.

The newly expanded 20,000 ft2 facility now provides doublethe floor space and has seen the introduction of new plant andmachinery, and increased warehousing space.

“An essential element in the expansion plan was the need torenew our dust extraction system,” says Roundel’s Senior Fac-tory Manager, Roy Ramshaw.

“So, with a long-standing philosophy of constantly looking atways to conserve energy, we were looking for the most efficientand cost-effective methods to deal with the generated wood

dust. And, like all our six manufac-turing facilities, across the threesites, wood waste would be usedto fuel a heating system.”

Melvyn Bathgate, sales directorat DCS, says: “We were able to putforward a convincing proposal foran energy-efficient dust extractionscheme which featured our Eco-gate energy-saving extraction op-timisation system.

“Furthermore, being a whollynew installation meant we couldaccurately size the system toconsiderably reduce the averagevolume.

“We also worked in conjunctionwith Woodheat Solutions, who in-stalled the heating system andsupplied the chipper, to provide aplant layout that would fit into avery limited space at the back ofthe building.”

modular filter unit, with a 37 kWmain fanset and 15 kW waste fanunit.

Sized at a capacity of 21,400m3/hr, the high efficiency filter isfitted with antistatic ‘Superbag’polyester filter bags and includeslow-noise, reverse air fan unitswhich maximise filter cleaningefficiency.

Waste collected by the filter isdischarged via a rotary valve intoa closed-loop transfer system, which feeds an adjoining storagesilo.

The main ducting system incor-porates an APEX approved CARZback-pressure flap valve whichprevents the effects of a dust ex-plosion from travelling back alongductwork.

Installing Ecogate on any dustextraction plant means that theoverall system can be designed upto 40% smaller than with conven-tional technology; resulting in anaverage volume reduction of atlest 22%, and providing powersavings of more than 50%.

The Ecogate system installed forRoundel comprises a series of Eco-gate motorised damper gates andsensors, which are fitted to indi-vidual machines in the workshop.

A greenBOX® 12 controller de-tects changes in extraction load,as machines come on or off line,

and the speed of the main fan iscontinually adjusted via an Eco-gate Power MASTER® variablespeed drive inverter unit.

Roy Ramshaw adds: “DCS did alot of detailed planning; ensuring

a trouble-free installation whichwas handled professionally fromconcept stage, right through tocommissioning. And, the bonus isthat their engineers conservativelypredict we can expect to make sig-

nificant savings on electricity bills.”Dust Control Systems LtdTel 0800 040 7116/01924 [email protected]

ALPHACAM, an industry leading software solution for the wood-working industry, now contains a new concept for machining techni-cal STL files. The Alphacam STL-Hans functionality convertsdifficult-to-use STL-files into a simple template for CNC machiningby allowing the user to identify and convert the areas of STL-files formultiplane routing, drilling and sawing operations.

Traditionally, CAD programs which have their focal point on a photo-realistic rendering can often output simple parts to the machine shop, but do not have the same capability for highlevel design parts. For this, they use 3D STLas their default output, plus other formatssuch as Google SketchUp and AutodeskStudio 3D.

Alphacam general manager Nick Spurrett, says it is difficult to machine wood to thelevel required for most furniture and exhibi-tion stands when using STL files as they onlydefine a raw unstructured triangulatedsurface.

“This doesn’t provide the exact details re-quired for real edges which would normallybe used to drive the CNC. It provides manu-facturers with something which looks like a3D model of their part, but doesn’t providesupport for programming in a way that issuitable for cutting wood. Everyone who hastried to mill, drill or saw from STL files knowshow difficult it is, and often resort to gener-ating a new geometrical model of the part.”

However, the STL-Hans functionality de-veloped by Licom Germany, overcomes

these issues by quickly creating accurate CNC programs from STL files. Itconverts the triangles into supporting edges for 3- to 5- axis CNC pro-gramming, along with drilling and sawing support.

International exhibition stand manufacturer, D4 Projekt, recently usedthe software to create components for a 3D cover aimed at attractingpeople to its customer’s stand. Designed in Pytha 3D CAD software, thecomponents were programmed with Alphacam STL-Hans and machinedon a Felder Group HM 5-axis machine.

After the parts were separated and set intothe machining position, single mouse clicksdefine the manufacturing zones and the STLdata is converted into areas dedicated toCNC routing, drilling and edges for saw cuts. With the process entirely automated, no con-struction planes or additional calculationswere needed to produce multi-plane 2.5Doperations. Once the machining plan wasgenerated, the user specific Alphacam Stylesautomatically creates the relevant toolpaths, adding tool data and machining methods tothe detected edges, producing ready-to-useNC code. It took just three minutes for STL-Hans to program the part, with the machin-ing taking a further three minutes.AlphacamTel 0118 922 6677www.alphacam.com

CHRIS Sandercock, based inLeicestershire, examined soft-ware for bespoke joinery manu-facturing three years ago, choosing Joinerysoft for its easeof use, ability to calculate u-values and simplify the flow ofinformation to his growing teamof joiners in the workshop.Three years later he admits hewould not want to go back-wards and have to do without it!

The 2,500 ft2 joinery workshop, trading with the name ChrisSandercock provides custom join-ery throughout Leicestershire,Northamptonshire and Warwick-shire. They predominantly manu-facture doors and windows, butalso stairs, conservatories, gardenrooms or fitted furniture. The tra-ditional workshop employs fourfull time and two part time joinersutilising modern tooling but hasnot gone down the route of CNC.Chris says he has never had a planfor business growth but over theyears word spreads further andwider resulting in growth. He stillvalues the hands on time he per-sonally spends in the workshopand for him, believes that is what itis all about.

Investment in the business hasalways been a priority for Chris:however, not being computer lit-erate, it took him a while to con-sider software. The catalyst cameas the business grew; employingmore joiners made it time con-suming for Chris to communicateall job details and manual quotingwas taking up more and moretime. Chris decided it was time to

take the plunge before he got leftbehind in the technology race. Hesays, “Spreading the payments forJMS over several months made iteasier to purchase and the twoday training and installation waswith a qualified joiner who wasable to answer all my questionsand got me up and runningstraight away.”

With a wide variety of work in-cluding listed buildings moreoften than not, Chris says, “I amable to change designs, sectionsizes, timber, glass and fittings

quickly and easily to suit individ-ual requirements. This means thatI can now offer a variety of optionsfor customers with itemised pricesfor each variant.” Chris believesthat this has helped him win workand customers are impressed withthe professional quotes automati-cally generated by JMS which in-clude diagrams of each item in thejob.

Chris’s wife, Colette, who is a fullpartner in the business and re-sponsible for bookkeeping, ac-counting and generally keeping

the business on track has noticedeven more time savings in herwork load than Chris. Chris com-ments, “I am now able to do all thequoting myself without Colettehaving to type up the quotes. Inthe three years since I have hadJMS I am quoting twice as manyjobs as previously.”

Chris now puts everythingthrough JMS to ensure that a con-sistent process is maintained with-out the workshop. He says, “JMSprovides a simple way of relayinginformation to the workshop floor.I believe it has made us more effi-cient and makes things runsmoothly.”

He concludes, “When I pur-chased JMS the software seemedan easy answer to the requirementto provide u-values. Receiving up-dates automatically with my sup-port means that Joinerysoft hassince provided an equally efficientsolution to comply with CE mark-ing without me having to get in-volved.” Adding, “JMS has helpedthe business grow and I can be surenow that I am not losing money onjobs. MANUFACTURERS of fitted fur-niture face many internal andexternal challenges as theywrestle to design products thatmeet consumers’ desire forchoice, quality and price. As ma-terials, labour and productioncosts inevitably increase; theyalso face the persistent chal-lenge of competition from bothwell-established and new chan-nels. To compete, the companymust continuously improve itsefficiency and adjust its servicelevels to match changes in itstarget markets.

A fitted furniture manufac-turer’s business relies on the ex-pertise and proficiency itdemonstrates in its ‘end to end’process. Right through from help-ing consumers (and retailers) de-sign attractive room plans, toengineering those plans into in-formation that can be used on theshop floor, to planning and exe-cuting production (and delivery)to most efficiently meet demand.

The process is represented bythe diagram at the bottom of thispage.

The information and skillsneeded in each phase of thisprocess are different and conven-tionally each is supported by spe-cific tools from dedicatedproviders. The process has be-come ‘silo’d’ as the informationcaptured in one phase, is re-processed (often manually) tomeet the needs of the next phase. The experience of many other in-dustries confirms that significantvalue is generated if these phasesare connected.

2020 is believed to be uniquelypositioned to connect the End toEnd process of fitted furnituremanufacturers. 2020 provides aleading room planning tool (2020Fusion) and a leading engineeringand production solution (2020 In-sight) and so provides a one stopshop. 2020 goes further and con-nects the three phases to deliver acomprehensive manufacturing

operations management (MOM)platform that connects yourprocesses to create a seamlessflow of information from salesorder to installation.

This improved coordination im-proves communication by sharingproduct, order and supply chaininformation with the right personat the right time.

It automates and optimises pro-duction workflows based on eachcompany’s unique business rulesand best practices, eliminatingmanual steps that cost time anderrors to enhance end-to-endoperations.

Roundel Kitchens is a successfulmanufacturer of fitted furniture toboth house builders nationallyand discerning retail consumers.

In 2014 the company realisedits decision to invest in a manufac-turing solution, replacing an in-house design tool that was ‘long inthe tooth’ and chose to build on itsalready successful 2020 Fusionplatform, used for room planning.

Over previous months Lindsey

Oman, managing director and PhilGrant, IT manager, had trawled themarket looking at many potentialERP oriented solutions. None in-spired their confidence as eachvender they approached ap-peared to be entering the fittedfurniture for the first time.

2020 listened to their needs andexplained how 2020 Insight couldaddress their most pressing issuesand requirements. With 2020’s sig-nificant industry experience it be-came immediately apparent thatRoundel’s priority requirementscould be met and a multi-phasedplan was agreed.

2020 would design a step bystep implementation, startingwith automating receipt of ordersfrom Fusion. Seven weeks after theinitial meeting, an agreement wassigned to implement 2020 Insightacross Roundel’s house buildingand retail divisions.

Talking about the search for ERPvendors, Phil Grant says: “Havingsuccessfully developed applica-tions to support our quoting

needs we decided to look exter-nally for a platform to support ourmanufacturing needs.

“Initially we looked to a widerange of ERP vendors who had ex-cellent generic needs but nonehad relevant experience in fittedfurniture. Talking with 2020 was adifferent experience: they imme-diately understood our businessand were able to quickly under-stand our key issues.

“2020’s ability to connect plan-ning, engineering and productionis both compelling and unique.”

The focus of the initial phase isRoundel’s engineering functions, which were under pressure tomeet increasing consumer de-mand for choice in fronts, unitsand accessories.

Roundel will enjoy the ability togenerate production informationfor any unit (including featuresand options) permitted by theirown engineering rules “on the fly”.This will deliver the flexibilityneeded to meet market demandwhilst eliminating errors (in room

planning, order receipt and Bill ofMaterials (BoM) generation) andwill eliminate significant time forthe company’s current process. Inshort, Roundel will plan only whatthe company can make and willprocess orders to its factories in-stantaneously.

Says managing director, Lind-sey Oman: “Roundel delivers out-standing quality and service whilstconsistently generating strong an-nual growth rates.

“Our people are exceptionaland we recognised some time agothat they needed support from afit for purpose manufacturing so-

lution. 2020’s vision for a con-nected order to deliver solution isvery appealing, as is the com-pany’s ability to implement it in astep by step way.

“Our biggest priority was thespeed and reliability in generatingproduction information for spe-cials and 2020 is addressing this inthe first phase.”

With phase 1 completed,Roundel will extend the solution toincorporate factory planning, ma-terial supply and shop floor con-trol. Insight will use the routinginformation associated with theBoM to enable primary and alter-

native routes for items “on the fly”— increasing the existing facility’sflexibility and agility. Procurement, inventory and consumptions willbe controlled by workflows cre-ated by Roundel using a graphicaluser interface. These workflows areeasy to both create and edit andenable non-IT people to determinehow to fine tune the solution, al-lowing it to meet its ever evolvingneeds.

From the start of the imple-mentation process it has becomeclear to Roundel that connectingthe planning, engineering andproduction phases of the end-to-

end process is both achievableand highly valuable.

Valuable information is beingmoved from people’s heads intoInsight so that Roundel can ac-commodate its growth potentialand sustain itself well into the fu-ture. THE LATEST RELEASE of wood-work engineering software Cab-inet Vision contains more than100 items of new and enhancedfunctionality, including greaterflexibility in organising materi-als, through to greater control inwhere and how edgebanding isassigned to components.

Many of the new features inCabinet Vision V9 are in responseto customer requests. Productbusiness manager, Marie Cassidy, says: “Cabinet Vision is used exten-sively by companies designingand manufacturing kitchens, bed-rooms, bathrooms and furniturefor schools and offices, along withbespoke case goods.

“Every user will find many of theupdates in the latest release in-valuable in improving theirprocesses even further, whetherthey have manual cutlists or haveCNC equipment.”

One item of new functionality isespecially important to manufac-turers transferring their designcodes to CNC machines throughCabinet Vision’s Screen to Machinemodule. “Mitre construction cannow be defined using construc-tion standards, which are thentransferred to Screen to Machine. We have introduced this facility asthere is a big demand for this styleof construction, as many com -panies strive to produce cabinetswith non-visible fixings and easyassembly. The mitre assembly op-tion provides an easy User inter-face for this.”

V9 sees a major improvementto the material database, with theintroduction of a new Material

Manager, giving greater flexibilityin organising materials. Wood-workers can now create materialcategories and sub categories andcarry out quick material searches. The improved user interface ismore in line with Windows Ex-plorer, making it easier to manageand maintain the material data-base.

“We’ve also introduced MaterialKits, which will be a big advantageto many companies,” says MarieCassidy. “It allows users to add mis-cellaneous materials into a kit, orhardware pack … for example, ahanging rail that includes hangingbrackets and screws.”

Another feature included withthe new Material Manager is theHardware Model Import, for im-porting 3D Sketchup and 3D DXFmodels in to the model editor.“This gives the functionality toapply all the associated operationsto the model and provide accuratevisuals to complement the alreadyaccurate machining data. It ap-plies to all hardware within a job,

including handles, hinges, drawerguides, hanging rails and legs.”

Reports are now generatedmuch faster thanks to the Inte-grated Reporting Engine whichhas replaced the standard version. All existing reports are still avail-able, along with the ability to cre-ate new or modify existingreports. “Many woodworkingcompanies using cutlist reportsare used to having them laid outin a specific way, and the new en-gine enables them to do that.”

Cabinet Vision V9 has added theLamello Clamex assembly fittingto its existing range of Blind Dado,Rafix, Cam and Dowel, and Screwfix assembly construction styles. These fittings are non-visible andcan be used on any angle.

The Assign Banding feature inthe Assembly Wizard gives morecontrol over where and how edge-banding is assigned to cabinetparts. “The interface is easy to use,and provides simple images ofparts requiring banding,” saysMarie Cassidy.

Other new and enhanced itemsof functionality include 43 newbid methods; New Connect Tool tocreate a 0” fillet; the ability to re-verse the toolpath on operationssuch as circles, arcs and lines in theCAM editor; significant improve-ments to rendering/redraw speedat room level; material name limitof 23 characters extended to 50;and a new utility for definingmoulding profiles.l When Norfolk Oak suffered afire in its workshop, Cabinet Visionwas instrumental in getting themup and running again. “We defi-nitely would not have recoveredso quickly without it,” says market-ing executive Ciaran O’Neill.“Using Cabinet Vision’s 3D wireframe diagrams we could see theengineering aspects of all thekitchens we were working on atthe time and optimise them cor-rectly. STUDENTS at Kingston University’s Faculty of Art, Design and Archi-tecture have once again been getting to grips with Norbord’s Ster-lingOSB as part of an undergraduate assignment.

Working in five studio groups, a total of 115 students used the OSB,which Norbord donated free of charge, to design and build full-size (1:1)structures exploiting the physical characteristics of the material.

Each group was assigned a limited quota of 50 x 50 mm softwoodlengths and of 18 mm SterlingOSB sheets. With these materials and en-couraged to use basic hand-tools only, the students were asked to make“beautiful, coherent, precise, quality timber installations”.

The challenge was to consider the properties of the materials em-ployed, issues of waste, economy of materials and how to use every cen-

timetre of the material supplied, says senior lecturer, Aoife Donnelly.

“Questions such as framing, structure, how to stabilise, con-nect, support and brace the con-structions had to be addressed,”she says.

Norbord sales director MauriceFitzgibbon says that Norbord wel-comes the opportunity sponsorthis project. “This is the secondyear that we have supplied theUniversity with material for this as-signment,” he says. “We are verypleased to be able to help: after all, these students are the future de-signers of our built environment.”

Aoife confirms that students“put the OSB to great and widelyranging use”. She adds: “It becamea great hands-on learning experi-ence and was very much enjoyedby students and staff alike.”NorbordTel 01786 812921www.norbord.co.uk

“IN THE manufacturing sector inwhich many of our customersoperate, new developments areunderway that are being de-scribed as the fourth IndustrialRevolution,” says Raphaël Prati, director of marketing and com-munications for Biesse Group.

“The goal of this revolution is tobring together the high outputnumbers seen in the assemblychain with the tailor-made valueof artisan production.

“In a world in which those whooffer quality and a personalisedtouch at increasingly low pricescome out on top, factories areturning digital: machines commu-nicate amongst themselves via au-tomation systems and dialoguesoftware, and are able to ‘imagine’and simulate construction of aproduct, as well as testing it, all before having actually producedit.

“Biesse Group places itself

firmly at the service of this fourthIndustrial Revolution, developingnew high-performance solutionsfor the creation of ‘digital’ factories4.0.”

The bSuite package is anexample of this, a co-ordinatedcollection of established softwarecharacterised by its quick setupand ease of use which allows any-one to access the most cutting-edge technology available on themarket.

bSuite allows users to design, simulate production, programmemachines automatically and mon-itor production with ease, signifi-cantly cutting design time.

“We are the protagonists of thisfourth Industrial Revolution in themachining operations equipmentsector, thanks to the large inte-grated systems that we supply tothe biggest names in furnitureproduction in the world, and alsoto our automation systems for

small and medium-sized wood-working companies.

“These solutions can multiplyand enhance machine and systemperformance, guaranteeing man-ufacturing flexibility allowing forthe production of customisedgoods with reduced lead timesand increased economic prof-itability,” said Raphaël.

The pride of automation tech-nologies is the range of Winstoreautomatic magazines for the opti-mised management of panels, nolonger just the preserve of largeindustries, but now increasinglyaccessible to small and medium-sized businesses that want to in-crease their competitiveness.

Winstore can be integrated intocutting centres and nesting cells, guaranteeing a significant in-crease in profitability.

And it is on the occasion ofLigna 2015 that Biesse Group willshow its customers how they can

make the most of the opportuni-ties this fourth Industrial Revolu-tion brings, based on an innovativeplatform which goes beyond sim-ply improving the product, butalso has a positive effect on the en-tire production process.

“More than 3,700 m2 of exhibi-tion space will allow visitors to seethe large integrated systems upclose, 30 machines for workingpanels and solid wood and newsoftware modules which can sim-plify the management of even themost complex and advanced tech-nological solutions: solutionswhich allow our customers towork more economically, in smallbatches, with lower machiningtimes, whilst improving the qual-ity and quantity of their products,”Raphaël concluded.Biesse UKTel 01327 300366Email [email protected]

HOMAG Group at Ligna

HOMAG City in Hall 26 will againbe a focal point for visitors tothe 2015 LIGNA show in Han-nover, Germany. Here, theHOMAG Group will be present-ing integrated solutions from acompact workshop over an areaof 80 m2, up to a fully networked100 m long batch size 1 system.

Large and small manufacturersalike will find appropriate automa-tion and software solutions tosupport the range of world classwoodworking machinery from anindustry leader.

Visitors to the InnovationCenterwill get a glimpse into the future. How will the demands placed onfurniture manufacturers changeover the next ten years? Which fur-niture production technologieswill help customers achievesuccesss? At the InnovationCenteryou will be able to take a look atthe furniture production processof tomorrow — a visual experi-ence that is full of surprises andis accompanied by hands-ontechnology.

One of the trending themes inthe InnovationCenter is energy ef-ficiency. That is because increasingproductivity, reducing costs andconserving resources are now in-tegral building blocks for thosecompanies that are looking to thefuture.

A key focal point in this regardis ecoPlus, the intelligent technol-ogy package from the HOMAGGroup. Taking an integrated view,it is clear to see how much poten-tial lies in energy consumptionalone. A workshop that usesecoPlus solutions for saws, edge-banding machines, processingcentres and sanding machines canlower its energy consumption byup to 30%.

In the development of new suc-tion devices, HOMAG is focusingon two areas: detection of chipsand energy-efficient removal ofthese chips. Now the chips are al-ways removed horizontally — theflow-optimised CFK distributorprovides a high level of wear re-sistance along with a reduction inweight. As an additional advan-tage, this method reduces the

maximum height of the hall that isrequired. Overall, this type of suc-tion solution delivers better resultsat a lower cost: up to 30% reduc-tion in energy used for suction; upto 25% improvement in the de-gree of suction; reduced contami-nation of the machine and dustpollution in the ambient air.

Energy-efficient production isbecoming increasingly important— it is no longer a question ofwhether to take action, but how.Rather than simply analysing theindividual machine, it is importantto consider the interaction of theentire system. HOMAG Group En-gineering achieves this goal usinginnovative simulation softwarefrom SIEMENS.

In modern furniture produc-tion, there is an increasing trendtowards individual living spaces. The home is set to become evermore important as a retreat andplace of recovery. For furnituremanufacturers, this trend meansfocusing heavily on the individualrequirements of end customers, while facing a wide range of op-tions when it comes to furnituredimensions, shapes, materials, colours and surfaces. In somecases, this may even mean thatcustomers design their own itemof furniture on the manufacturer’swebsite and order it online.

As a result, the goal is to use in-dustrial processes to manufacturefurniture that is specific to each in-dividual customer and that couldotherwise only be obtained froma carpenter or joiner, all at a costthat is as close as possible to thatof series production.

It is against this backgroundthat ‘Industry 4.0’ has become ahot topic in the wood processingindustry — though this conceptcovers a large field. In the HOMAGGroup, the term ‘networked pro-duction’ is used. You can take alook at a batch size 1 system witha length of over 100 m live inHOMAG City — it is fully net-worked and available for all to see.HOMAG UK LtdTel 01332 856500Email [email protected]

Leitz Tooling: big plans for Ligna 2015

Seven innovations from Vollmer at LignaWORKING to the maxim of‘Leading Precision’, Vollmer ispresenting its enhanced portfo-lio at this year’s Ligna World Fairfor the Forestry and Wood In-dustries in Hannover, Germany.

The Swabian company is intro-ducing the wood and sawmill in-dustry to its new grinding anderosion machines for sharpeningcircular saws, band and gang saws,as well as rotary tools. On its stand(Hall 13, Stand A62) Vollmer will beshowcasing a total of seven inno-vations to representatives fromwood processing industries, build-ing on its market position as a full-scope service provider in thetimber industry.

The circular saw is an all-timeclassic tool in the timber industry:it is virtually impossible to find asawmill or wood processing com-pany whose operations do not relyon the circular saw and its per-formance.

Five of the seven new sharpen-ing machines are designed for car-bide-tipped circular saws. Theseare the CP 650 and CPF 650, to-gether with the CHP, CHC and CHFpresented at the start of 2015,

each of which is available in840 and 1300 versions. Allsharpening machines comewith the new Vollmer operat-ing concept. This revolvesaround the use of a multi-function wheel that offers in-tuitive machine operation.

Meeting with the represen-tatives from the sawmill in-dustry at the Ligna fair isalways a highlight for Vollmer.Vollmer machines are used inthe sharpening rooms ofsawmills across the globe, where they assume full re-sponsibility for sharpeningband and gang saws.

Among other things,Vollmer will be showing its newCAG 200 sharpening machine forgang saws at the Ligna fair, as wellas the CA 210 and CAF 310 sharp-ening machines or the GPA 200stelliting machine.

The Vollmer subsidiary Lorochfrom Mörlenbach rounds off thecompany’s presence at the Lignafair with the new EVOLUTIONK850-M automatic saw bladesharpening machine which, thanks to four CNC-controlled

axes of motion, allows sharpening,re-toothing and automaticallychamfers HSS/CV circular sawblades.

From the field of tool grinding,Vollmer presents its Vgrind 160grinding machine for grindingsolid carbide tools such as drillsand milling cutters. Thanks to itstwo vertically arranged spindles, the Vgrind 160 enables multi-levelmachining for the first time ever.Vollmer will also be showing the

QXD 250 eroding machine for PCDrotary tool manufacture in Han-nover. Combined with the newExLevel PRO software, this notonly allows diamond-tipped drillsand milling cutters to be producedprecisely, but also to digitallysimulate their manufacture inadvance.Vollmer UK LtdTel 0115 949 [email protected]

FOR OVER two decades, Hoff-mann Dovetail keys haveproved their absolute reliabilityfor secure corner joints in win-dow, door, frame and furnituremanufacturing, and general usethroughout the woodworkingindustry.

As an integrated systemprovider, Hoffmann Maschinen-bau GmbH offers several levels ofproduction capacity to suit indi-vidual manufacturing capacity. These range from “simple” benchtop models to automated CNCmulti axis machining centres.

Hoffmann offers a wide rangeof machines with different pro-cessing steps for the efficient pro-duction and assembly of woodencomponents which need to bejoined. This includes specialisedmachinery solutions that are tai-lored to the individual productionrequirements and have been de-veloped according to the cus-tomer’s own designs.

Such bespoke machines are in-creasingly in demand, becausewith standard equipment or CNCmachining centres it is often thecase that a special task can only beperformed with additional time

or making other compromises. This does not offer an efficientsolution.

Based on CNC routing anddrilling, the Hoffmann PP-2-NCmachine — a popular and suc-cessful model for processing cor-ner joints as well as flatbutt-jointed frame parts for woodwindows and doors — will be pre-sented and demonstrated atLigna. The new model is a com-pletely redesigned automatic CNCmachining centre “Control 3000”.This all-rounder — whether singleor serial processing — for lateral,

butt and mitre joining is availableboth for the general interior fitteras well as in two variants specifi-cally configured for the efficientproduction of firstly, doors andwindows, and secondly, timberbuildings.

Applications for doors/windowsinclude: for inset and fielded panelframes, mouldings, cornices, coffins, cabinet frames, claddingsand Georgian bars, patio door ele-ments, lifting/sliding portals,olive/ferrule/hinge holes, cornerbearing, lock box and mitre join-ing generally.

Applications in timber include:for node connections inpost/beam structures and glassfaçade elements for all standardconnection fittings such as Raico,Gutmann, Knapp and also for theaccredited and certified Hoffmannconnection system, “Dovetail andDowel”.

Virtually all profiles up to a max-imum 165 mm in the x directionand up to a maximum of 140 mmin the z direction can be processedon the “Control 3000”.

The versatile automated fea-tures — programmable position-ing in the x, y and z directions,eight-tool automatic tool changer(expanded on request) — producehigh efficiency in the productionof simple and compound connec-tions. This is usually much fasterthan with conventional machiningcentres.

All data processing is providedvia an installed production controlsystem for networked manufac-turing online. Connection to thecompany network is also an avail-able option.

The intuitive software pro-gramme processes the informa-tion and presents it to theoperator interactively on the dis-play screen. The workpieces to bemachined are clamped and theprocess of applying the requiredjointing configuration begins.

An innovative Hoffmannwooden window with great win-dow design variants will be pre-sented at the show. This systemfrom a Chinese supplier has hadhuge success in the expandingChinese market.

Also on display is the Hoffmannwindow systems with new energyefficient insulation shell “RockFrame” Rockwool. The focus hereis of course the securely jointedframe corners with the HoffmannKeys.

CUSTOMERS see Boere as aleading company when talkingabout the perfect sanding solu-tion. Whether it concerns cali-brating solid wood or finishingfilmy veneer, Boere understandsthe customer’s wishes andtranslates them in detail intoperfectly manufactured ma-chines. And this not only goesfor the processing of wood, butcertainly also for special materi-als such as plastics, composites, insulation materials, imitationteak decks, HPL, rubber or fibrecement. These materials can befound among others in the au-tomotive, façade, yacht buildingand aerospace industries.

It is exactly these industrieswhich require very high qualitystandards to their products andexpect from Boere’s machines thatthey meet these quality standardsas well. This enables Boere notonly to develop new machines fornew markets, but to bring to per-fection the machines for the exist-ing markets as well.

A very good example is Boere’ssanding machine for denibbing.Over the past year, Boere devel-

oped a method now enabling afurniture maker to reach a highquality, high gloss finish. By com-bining the experience in existingmarkets and the co-operationwith furniture spray painters, lac-quer and sanding material suppli-ers, a sanding machine has beendeveloped costing 60% less thanthe usual sanding machines fordenibbing, according to the com-pany. Now this high-gloss finish-ing machine comes within thereach of the small to medium-

sized furniture maker or shopfitter.Boere will show the results atLigna.

Besides this new development,Boere will show the renewed tex-turing brush machine Select X-Line. Structure, character, depthand a rustic appeal of wood arestill the aspects very much in de-mand within the flooring and fur-niture industry. Thanks to theoscillating brush system the woodgrain will be smoothly followed re-sulting in a stripeless and soft feel-

ing finish. When moreover first theX-Line unit sands across the grain, the surface will be given a sawcutor scarved look resulting in a verypowerful and distinctive structure.Besides the machine, many differ-ent examples will be on show.

Of course, Boere will also showthe products which have beensanded with a regular Boere widebelt sanding machine. Boere re-mains a specialist in deliveringcustom-made wide-belt sandingmachines which are fully adaptedto the customer. Boere’s guide isalways the customer’s productand wishes.

As far as Boere is concerned, outstanding quality and life spango hand in hand. Therefore, Boerewill show at Ligna the secondsanding machine ever built byBoere, in 1953. Today this machinestill fulfils the technical sanding re-quirements asked for in the mar-ket. That is why Boere dares toclaim that a Boere sanding ma-chine lasts a career!Boere Machinefabriek BVTel ++31 (0)182 - 614400Email [email protected]

ONE OF the UK’s leading suppli-ers of abrasives and accessories,Abracs has developed an inno-vative new range of abrasivesproducts designed to increaseperformance and profitabilityas well as improve safety stan-

dards within all industries thatabrasives are used.

British Abrasives Federation(BAF) member Abracs says its new“Hybrid’ range will solve issuessuch as disc failure due to use onthe wrong material or for the

wrong application, thereby savingdowntime to change equipmentand associated costs, as well as re-ducing the risk of operator acci-dents in the workshop.

Abracs’ Hybrid range is basedon the premise that the abrasivesproducts are manufactured fromdifferent types of materials and/ordesigned for use on various mate-rials and applications.

Abracs managing director,Robert Jeffery, said: “We believewe have created solutions to prob-lems that we know from experi-ence occur through misuse ofabrasives products. Safety in abra-sives is coming more to the fore-front and, as a market leader,Abracs has created a range ofproducts that are not only mar-ketable, exciting and profitable forour distributors but also haveadded safety features and benefitsfor the operator.”

The first three products to belaunched are: the ‘3in1 MULTI’ discfor cutting, grinding and finishingapplications; the ‘5in1 MAXI’ disc

Klingspor is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of abrasiveproducts, with a global workforce in excess of 2,700. The UK based officein Worksop, Nottinghamshire, will this year be celebrating 40 years ofservicing the UK abrasive market. The dedicated external Regional andArea Sales Managers are always available to support the company’sbusiness partners in the field, whilst the internal Customer AccountManagers provide the highest quality customer service. Complementingthis, the company has extensive marketing and technical supportfacilities that are focused on market development and promotionalactivities. The family company, which has a long proud tradition, is oneof the most reputable and recognised brands, both for coated abrasives(abrasive belts) and bonded products (cutting and grinding discs). Theproducts with the characteristic yellow logo are appreciated by users allover the world for their safety, performance and reliability.

Introducing PS 28 F: the NEW paper backed abrasive belt

material for all woodworking applicationsl Universal usel Open coat and antistatic technology for extended service life andreduced cloggingl High performance aluminium oxide grainl Excellent price to performance ratiol Available grits — 40 through to 220l Produced in narrow and wide belt form (up to 1,350 mm)Klingspor’s already extensive product range sees the addition of the NEWPS 28 F paper backed abrasive belt. It is designed for universalwoodworking applications and is especially suitable for solid timbers, softwoods, plywoods and veneers; areas where debris build-up on theabrasive belt can lead to premature loading and a noticeable drop inperformance.

PS 28 F, a high quality multipurpose abrasive belt with a very goodprice to performance ratio for all woodworking fields, was developedspecifically for the needs of small and medium sized woodworkingenterprises. In this case, the spectrum of users ranges from industry(parquet manufacturers, the furniture industry, laminated wood panelmanufacturers and window fitters) to the trades (carpenters, cabinetmakers and joiners).

Where the PS 28 F really excels is the surface processing of softwood(pine). The high quality grain, open coat structure and antistatictechnology prevent the dust and debris from clogging the beltprematurely. The result is an excellent service life, consistently highremoval rates and the perfect finish. Full artificial resin bonds guaranteeexcellent grit adhesion even under a high workload. A robust, resilient Fpaper base ensures that the belt runs smoothly and provides a highdegree of tear resistance.

ACT for WoodworkingKlingspor also presents its revised and extended range of abrasives withACT (Advanced Coating Technology) for woodworking.

Through this technology, the premature clogging of the abrasive isnoticeably reduced. The core problem in woodworking is not the wearof the abrasive grain but the fact that wood particles ‘clog’ the abrasive, reduce the aggressiveness and finally render the abrasive useless.

Klingspor has been operating successfully in the sector of professionalwoodworking for many decades and has used this experience for thedevelopment of its ACT technology. This current innovation from

Klingspor will be mainly applied in the production of abrasive belts.Improvements in service life of 25% and more can be expected comparedwith other types of abrasives on the market today.

Klingspor’s ACT product range includes PS 22 F ACT (hardwoods),PS 24 F ACT (coatings), PS 29 F ACT (softwoods/general purpose) andPS 38 G ACT (chipboard/engineered timbers) abrasive paper materials.

Klingspor can offer a‘Sanding of Wood’ handbook which is available toboth distributors and endusers in the woodworkingindustry. The book includesextensive information ontimber, abrasives, tools andapplications. It comes witha very easy to use crossreference table, ensuring thecorrect product is selected, and a trouble-shooting guidewith useful informationconcerning fault finding inapplication.

MIRKA is justifiably proud of thehigh quality of its sanding andabrasives solutions and invitededitors of trade jounals to Fin-land to visit the company’s headoffice, see and understand theproduction process, and have anopportunity to try out some ofthe hand sanding tools andabrasives in person.

Because of the unseasonablywarm temperatures for the time ofyear, the Mirka headquarters(right) was not actually sur-rounded by snow at the time ofour visit: but the general impact ofthis image, of modern buildingswell designed to fit into their envi-ronment, and set within theFinnish countryside, is fully justi-fied: the site also hosts an Ekokembiomass-to-energy plant whichconverts household waste fromnearby communities as well aswaste from the abrasives produc-tion process into energy for thefactory, reducing dependence onirreplaceable fossil fuels.

Mirka was founded in Helsinkiin December 1943 as a family firm.It is still family owned, although bya different family to the one thatfounded it, and has moved toJeppo, in Western Finland, wherethere is more room for expansionas the company grows.

Marketing & Business Develop-ment Manager, Nina Nyman, ex-

plained that Mirka’s aim is to pro-vide a complete sanding solutionwith top quality abrasives. Auto-motive refinishing is a key marketfor the company, but both thewood and construction & decorat-ing sectors are also key markets forMirka, and areas in which the com-pany continues to expand.

Mirka addresses both the handsanding and the wide-belt sandingmarkets. Abrasive belts are createdto the highest standards and cus-

tomers visiting the new trainingcentre, built in 2013, have an op-portunity to test their quality, eitheron their own product or on samplesprovided by Mirka, using a wide-belt sander provided by Weber.

All types of abrasives, whethersupplied as discs, strips, sheets, rolls or belts, are created in thesame way: as rolls several kilo-metres long, colour coded, pass-ing through a series of processesdesigned to ensure that, whateverthe customer’s requirements, theabrasive he receives will give himthe best results.

A wide range of backing mate-rials are available, including net, foam, paper, non-woven andcloth. The net product, Abranet, pictured above, is possibly one ofthe most innovative, beginningthe trend towards dust-free sand-ing that is becoming so populartoday, especially when combinedwith the DEROS power sander.

extraction in place, the conse-quence is … well … dust! In a fac-tory setting, especially with a widebelt sander, it is relatively easy tohave suitable extraction installed:out on site, this can be more diffi-cult. Without suitable precautionsin place, for example, decoratorscan accidentally set off sensitivefire alarms as sanding dust fills theair: and this is without consideringthe health implications of breath-ing in the fine dust particles.

DEROS was created following anapproach by a local inventor withan idea for a lightweight, efficienthand sander. Dust extraction isnormally guaranteed as the powerfor the sander goes through theextraction unit, also minimisingthe need for power sockets whenout on site! The unit’s compact sizealso makes it suitable for use in anypart of the workshop, even wherespace is limited.

Given the advantages of DEROS’low weight, that it is easier to workwith all day, and, according to thecompany, the risk of “white finger”and repetitive strain injury is re-

duced, there are at present noplans for DEROS to become cord-less, as to do so would increase thesander’s weight. Dust-free sandersavailable from Mirka include theDEROS, CEROS, Miro and Handy.

The dust-free nature of theAbranet with suitable extractionwas demonstrated to the editorson wood, Corian (used with a

DEROS) and plaster (used withboth a Miro and a DEROS). Thedemonstration was perhaps mosteffective on the plaster: light pen-cil marks were applied before thesander was used, and the only vis-ible sign that surface had been re-moved was that the pencil markshad disappeared. Another effec-tive demonstration was the cloud

of dust that arose when the hoseconnecting the extractor to thesander was temporarily removed ...

As part of its complete sandingsolution, Mirka also offers a rangeof polishers, Polarshine, in a varietyof grades, which can be appliedusing lambs’ wool discs. These areparticularly effective where a highgloss finish is required, and wasdemonstrated to the editors.

Mirka also showed the results ofindependent tests carried out in2013 concerning removal of paintover an area of 0.5 m2 using two ofits own products, Gold andAbranet, and four products fromthree competitors (two versions ofone competitor’s product wereused). Abranet was both thequickest and the most economi-cal, requiring only two discs (oneof each of two grit sizes) as it can‘jump’ grit sizes. Gold requiredfour, and its performance wascomparable to the ‘best of therest’ and significantly better thanthe remaining products.

Which shows that Mirka’s ordi-nary is ‘Gold standard’ … andMirka’s best is exceptional!Mirka (UK) LtdTel 01908 866100Email [email protected]

Ongoing research and development is one key reason for Mirka’s success.

SPRAY BOOTH and drying sys-tems specialist, Gallito Ltd, hasrecently completed a dry filterspray booth installation forleading retail shopfitters, Max-field Jarvis Ltd.

Maxfield Jarvis is a new genera-tion fit-out specialist who fullymanage and execute individual ormultiple projects for a growingnumber of top high street names.Delivering a complete design, manufacturing, installation andrefitting service, the companyprides itself on its ability to pro-vide the highest standard of serv-ice and craftsmanship. Establishedin 1999 by present directors,Danny Maxfield and MichaelJarvis, the company operates froma modern 22,000 ft2 design andmanufacturing centre near Lough-borough, Leicestershire.

Having traditionally contractedout the spray painting of compo-nents, the company recently de-cided to look at bringing thiscapability in house. “Our clients

demand a pristine spray finish, with substantial resistance to chippingand scratching,” says Michael Jarvis, “and an increase in demand for be-spoke painted units led us to consider setting up our own spray shop.”

While visiting last year’s W14 exhibition, Michael Jarvis and Danny Max-field were able to see Gallito spray booths on display and discuss theirrequirements with Gallito sales engineers. Following the show, Gallitowas invited to complete a site survey before putting forward a proposalfor the installation of a Dry Filter Spray Enclosure, to be sited on themezzanine floor of the Maxfield Jarvis factory.

The project involved the design, supply and installation of a 4 m widedry filter spray booth, together with a 6 m x 6 m enclosure. The boothand enclosure are manufactured from galvanised folded panels and the

enclosure includes filtered air inlet panels in thefront walls. A double-hinged component accessdoor and a single personnel access door are in-cluded along with integral lighting.

Two 1 m square inlet louvres were installedto allow air from outside to enter the building toreplace the air being exhausted to atmosphere.

Michael Jarvis adds: “We were delighted withthe way in which Gallito handled the project, and their installation team did a great job.

“We now have a first-class in-house sprayshop which means we can supervise and mon-itor the whole finishing process of spray paintedproducts.”Gallito LtdTel 01937 844698Email [email protected]

They now employ 15time-served craftsmen joiners in a10,000 ft2 workshop on a two-acreplot at Beeston in the heart of ruralNorfolk.

The company works on projectsaround the country for domesticclients, house builders and de-signers and architects. Its skilledjoiners can produce everythingfrom new kitchens and conserva-tories to staircases, windows anddoors, restaurant and bar fittingsand furniture.

In addition to working for theNational Trust and carrying outrestoration and new works insidechurches and chapels, ScopeJoinery holds a prestigious RoyalWarrant as a manufacturer ofexhibition joinery to Her Majestythe Queen.

Its new Viet S1 213 sander is atwin head machine with a 1,350mm working width. The sandingelements include a calibratingroller followed by a combination

head comprising a softer roller andinflatable pad. The machine fea-tures anti-dubbing on the secondhead and inverter control of theconveyor belt to allow excellentfinish sanding on veneered boards.

The S1 model is a heavy dutywide belt sander with a largechoice of sanding and finishing el-ements with additional options in-cluding inverter control of theabrasive belt and touch screencontrols to give maximum flexibil-

ity from the compact machine andincrease operator ease and speedof use.

Every single component thatrequires sanding in the joineryshop, including door parts, win-dow frames and staircase parts, whether made from hardwood orsoftwood, as well as veneeredpanels and MDF, passes throughthe Viet.

“The Viet replaced a Sanding-master that was around 20 years

old and was costing us too muchin continual repair costs to make itfinancially viable any longer,” saidChris Green. “As TM Machinery hadcarried out the Sandingmaster’sservicing for several years I askedtheir engineer if he could recom-mend a suitable replacement, andhe said that TM had taken oversales of the Viet range.

“Because I was pleased withTM’s level of service over the yearsI called them to see what theycould do for us. I also checked outother wide belt sanders on the in-ternet before finally deciding togo with a Viet. I wanted a good, ca-pable machine at the right priceand the Viet is just that. I couldhave spent twice as much to get amachine that does the same ex-cellent job the Viet does.

“All the lads like it as it is a lotmore accurate than our old one be-cause of its built-in calibrationwhich leads to fewer mistakes. Ithas been totally reliable and shouldgive us years of good service.”

Now part of the Biesse Group,Viet’s artisan range of wide beltsanders is available in the UK fromTM Machinery Sales, who alsoservice the machines and providespare parts.TM MachineryTel 0116 271 7155Email [email protected]

LEADING SUPPLIER of high-performance routing, engraving and cutting solutionsto the industrial woodworking, furniture production, joinery and panel processingindustries, AXYZ International continues to excel in these market sectors through awide choice of machines under its AXYZ and Pacer power brands. With a choice of366,918 different machine configurations now possible and the availability of a hostof both standard and optional peripheral production enhancements, the companycan accommodate virtually every conceivable CNC machining requirement.

Following installation of an AXYZ 4000 series router with ATC (Automatic Tool Change)attachment, South Wales-based Craft Wales found it necessary to install a second andlarger AXYZ 4008 machine in order to meet increased customer requirements and to ex-pand its production capabilities. The routers are used to manufacture bespoke timberproducts, including robust wooden benches and traditional oak signs used in countryparks and other rural areas due to their aesthetic appearance and environmental sensi-tivity. The routers have also enabled Craft Wales to diversify into new markets where thefabrication of other materials beyond wood and its derivatives are used.

A major user of plywood and MDF, West Midlands-based Porter & Woodman installed anAXYZ 4010 router to supplement an existing AXYZ machine. This enabled the company’shuge workflow to be allocated equally across the two machines, thereby doubling pro-duction capacity and enabling a faster turnaround on jobs to be achieved.

At Dorset-based Minster Joinery, an AXYZ 4004 router has been used successfully tocreate a range of architecturally-sensitive timber constructions. These have included anelegant wooden staircase installed at a Grade 1 Arts & Crafts building in London.

A Pacer 25/15 HDS router was used by Cornwall-based The Grain UK to create the com-pany’s renowned cedar wood sandblasted signs that are something of a speciality. Therouter also proved outstanding in the large amount of three-dimensional work under-taken by this company.

Installation of an AXYZ 4008 router was a key factor in the success of London-based re-tail solutions specialist Stringer. It resulted in the further installation of a second and largerAXYZ 4010 router in order to meet a subsequent increased production requirement.

Having recently achieved its 5,000th machine sale and with the imminent opening of anew UK and Continental Europe main facility in Telford, AXYZ International has travelleda considerable distance since first commencing the manufacture of hand-built routers inthe early 90s. This progression has been fuelled by the wide choice of AXYZ and Pacer CNCrouters now available, to an equally wide choice of both standard and optional machineupgrades and to the setting up of a 24-hour online tooling and accessories facility thatcollectively have further increased the company’s production and supply capabilities.AXYZ International l Tel 01902 375600 l www.axyz.com

First SCM Accord WD installed at Traditional WINDOWS: DESIGN & MANUFACTURE

TRADITIONAL Sash Windows, based in Guildford, Surrey, hasbeen manufacturing, supplyingand installing traditional sashand casement windows since1999. During this time the com-pany has completed a large va-riety of installations, supplyingover 50,000 replacement win-dows plus refurbishing existingsash windows.

Traditional Sash Windows isvery much a family business, started by Chairman Paul Kitching, and run by Matthew Lord, manag-ing director, and Jamie Kitching, director, with their close knit teamthey are responsible for thegrowth and day to day running ofthe business.

As the business is flourishingand production volumes are in-creasing, at the beginning of 2014,it was decided to examine the pur-chase of a CNC machining centre,as the existing SCM Windor 20L, al-though still producing excellentwindow and door components, was not capable of grooving, bevelling and machining horns, draught excluding strips andsecurity bolt locations.

It was felt a CNC machiningcentre, with a five-axis routinghead, would machine all windowand door components in one lo-cation on the CNC’s table, avoid-ing loss of datum when movingcomponents from one machine toanother, providing greater accu-racy and a better machined finish.

Therefore, a visit to SCM Group’sCNC manufacturing unit in Riminiwas arranged by SCM UK’s areasales manager, Mike Lee. A modelAccord WD Cell was demonstratedthat also includes an automaticcomponent feeding and stackingfacility.

The Accord WD can be used for

production in batches and insingle units without ever inter-rupting the work cycle and alwaysfeeding at the maximum speed. Also, it is easy and fast to use andalso with manual loading to pro-duce any type of component andtherefore exploit all the potentialof an SCM machining centre. Theautomatic component movementsystem and the worktable man-agement ensure that the continu-ous presence of the operator is notnecessary.

The 5-axes machining unit, de-signed and constructed specifi-cally for demanding jobs, is

supported by a rigid mobilegantry-type structure for fast pro-filing of large section elements. The table/machining area is 6,360x 1,905 mm. The work cycle isnever interrupted as while the ma-chine is machining on one half-table the finished components areunloaded from the other one andnew ones loaded. Machining spe-cial door and window frames orother types of products is ex-tremely simple as the worktablecan easily be accessed for manualloading and unloading.

The powerful 13 kW, 5-axisPrisma T machining unit, designedand constructed specifically fordemanding jobs, ensures profilingof large section elements with fastfeed speeds. SCM’s electro-spindles, with HSK 63 E tool holderfixing, are powerful and reliable. They allow the use of tools of largedimensions and with double pro-file ensuring ease of profiling onelements of a large cross-section.

A Rapid 12 Tool Changer is ad-jacent to the 5-axis head and inaddition, a 48 station TRC rear ToolChanger can accommodate largedimensioned and heavy duty cut-ting heads. Cutting, routing andboring both vertically and hori-zontally, without needing the toolchanger, using the 3 kW machin-ing unit type BRC. Fast and precisefor all accessory machining, andfor making a door or windowframe there is a single secondary

unit using an independent Z axisand dedicated inverter. The twinspindle horizontal head can beused for door hinge and lock re-cessing. Includes a two-spindleboring unit and a sawblade unit.

Matic is the fully automaticworktable ideal for machiningsolid wood. Complete set-up inseconds, all bars and supportsmoving simultaneously, eachdriven by an independent motor. The many technical devices givethis table lasting safety and relia-bility. It is perfect for machiningpre-finished/finished door andwindow frames, all supports hav-ing cleaning blowers which re-move all shavings from the slidingzone and on the component holddown base during changes of theclamps.

Automatic feeding of the com-ponents from the infeed buffer(upper table) by the left robot armand deposits the component onto the left side of the CNC’s table. While the CNC executes the pro-gram on the left table, the rightrobot arm receives the next com-ponents from the rear roller con-veyor and deposits them on to theright side of the CNC’s table.

Once the program is finished, the left robot arm unloads the ma-chined components from the lefttable and deposits them on to theunloading buffer (lower table). Thecycle is completed by unloadingthe components from the right

CNC table while the CNC contin-ues to machine the next compo-nents on the left table.

Several components, of differentlength, can be positioned on theloading buffer. When the operatorloads the component, its dimen-sions (length, width, thickness) arechecked with by an optical sensor. For increased productivity, two

components can always be ma-chined at the same time on theCNC’s half-table. Short compo-nents are loaded automatically andclamped with a single clamp. Thehandling units are positioned withNC controlled axes. The clampingdevices are positioned automati-cally, according to the length andwidth of the components.

Maestro WD parametric soft-ware developed by the SCM Groupto design and produce door andwindow frames on machiningcentres. It supports the design re-quirements of the most commontypes and geometric shapes ofdoor and window frames, both lin-ear and curved. A simple and intu-itive graphic interface guides theuser through every step of theproject all the way to creating themachine programs.

Paul Kitching concludes: “Weare very pleased with the SCM Ac-

cord WD and can see the benefitsof the machine, especially thequality of the finished compo-nents and the machining ofrounded edges. At the momentwe are set up for sash window pro-duction and eventually we willmove on to door production.”Traditional Sash WindowsTel 0800 389 7384www.sashwindowspecialist.co.uk

WOOD is a wonderful materialthat is endlessly practical andaesthetically pleasing, yet woodis one of the only building ma-terials that moves once fitted. This issue is even more preva-lent in smaller items such aswindow beads. This is why QPSLstarted the development ofQwood 10 years ago creating aproduct with the look and feelof wood but without risk of rotor movement.

Through three years of Qwooddevelopment the production tech-niques were perfected and the firstwindow bead was born. Qwoodwas then brought to market in thespring of 2009. It is now used in theassembly of windows by a selec-

tion of the largest timber windowmanufacturers within the UK.

QPSL (t/a Qwood) is a knowl-edge leader in the field of com-posite technology. Theconsiderable amount of time andinvestment put into the researchand development of new profileshas created many tangible bene-fits for Qwood users.

QPSL was the first to createWPC glazing beads for windows;first to gain both FSC and PEFCchain of custody; and first to beused by a major timber windowproducer, all according to thecompany.

QPSL is also an investor in inno-vation, with 10 years of develop-ment to date; skilled tool makers,

with over 100 tools fabricated todate; and inventors of a new fit-ting method.

Key benefits of Qwood are abead that looks and feels like tim-ber without any drawbacks; peaceof mind over long term perform-ance; and a tried, tested and fullyproven product.

“We work closely with our cus-

tomers big and small to make surethey get maximum benefit fromQwood. Qwood is designed towork with wood to help create theperfect timber window,” says pro -duct manager, Simon Crossley.Quantum Profile Systems LtdTel 0161 627 4222Email [email protected]
