LIVE OAK United
Methodist
church
APRIL 2014
Pastor’s Desk
Happy Easter! I pray that you will have a joyful and blessed
Easter as we celebrate the resurrection of our Savior. Easter is
the foundation of our faith and hope. Because of the resurrection
we can know that death has been defeated and that eternal life is
free to all who will believe.
This Easter (April 20) we will have 5 services to choose from: the
Sunrise service at 6:30, the 8:00, 10:00 and 11:30 services, and a
new service in the FLC (Family Life Center). This "New Way"
service will be a casual (come as you are) service and will
officially begin on Easter Sunday at 10:00. The music and
worship style will be live, contemporary and energetic.
The message will be streamed from the sanctuary onto a big
screen in the FLC. At the “New Way" service there will be great
music/worship with the same message and a relaxed
environment. So if you are wanting a “New Way” to experience
church with the message that has blessed the ages, come on
Sunday mornings at 10:00 to LOUMC in the FLC.
This Easter come join us at Live Oak! We have something for
everyone young and old, church "veteran" and newcomer, those
who have been raised in church all their lives, and those who have
never been to church. Live Oak has something for all, and what
better time to begin than Easter Sunday, a day of resurrection and
new beginnings.
Hope to see you Sunday!
Mark
Mark 11:8-10
And many spread their clothes on
the road, and others cut down leafy
branches from the trees and
spread them on the road. Then
those who went before and those
who followed cried out, saying:
“ Hosanna! ‘ Blessed is He who
comes in the name of the L
ORD!’ Blessed is the kingdom of
our father David that comes in the
name of the Lord! Hosanna in the
highest!”
MEMORY verse
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.”
-John 3:16
John 19:30
“So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He
said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He
gave up His Spirit.
We frequently find hymns that completely express
the meaning of scripture. One such hymn is “It Is
Finished” by Bill and Gloria Gaither, copyrighted in
1976. It explains the meaning of John 19:30. “There’s a line that’s been drawn through the ages,
on that line stands an old rugged cross;
on that cross a battle is raging,
for the gain of a man’s soul or its loss.
On one side march the forces of evil,
all the demons and devils of Hell;
On the other the angels of glory,
and they meet on Golgotha’s hill
The earth shakes with the force of the conflict, and the sun refuses to shine;
For there hangs God’s Son in the balance,
and then through the darkness He cries—
‘It is finished!’ The battle is over.
It is finished! There’ll be no more war; It is finished! The end of the conflict,
It is finished, and Jesus is Lord!
Yet in my heart the battle was raging, Not all prisoners of war have come home; These were battlefields of my own making, I didn’t know that the war had been won.
Nuggets from
the bible
Then I heard that the King of the ages Had fought all the battle for me;
And victory was mine for the claiming And now, praise His name, I am free!
It is finished! The battle is over.
It is finished! There’ll be no more war;
It is finished! The end of the conflict,
It is finished, and Jesus is Lord!”

Palm Sunday - April 13th
On Palm Sunday Christians celebrate the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, the week before his death and resurrection. For many Christian churches, Palm Sunday, often referred to as "Passion Sunday," marks the beginning of Holy Week, which concludes on Easter Sunday. Join our Chancel Choir for “It Is Finished” a multimedia Easter Musical presentation at 6:00 p.m. Palm Sunday. The Bible reveals that when Jesus entered Jerusalem, the crowds greeted him by waving palm branches and covering his path with palm branches. Immediately following this great time of celebration in the ministry of Jesus, he begins his journey to the cross.
Good Friday - April 18th
Good Friday is observed on the Friday before Easter Sunday. On this day Christians commemorate the passion, or suffering, and death on the cross of the Lord, Jesus Christ. Many Christians spend this day in fasting, prayer, repentance, and meditation on the agony and
suffering of Christ on the cross.
Easter Sunday - April 20th
Sunrise Service at 6:00 a.m. followed by Breakfast in the Family Life center.
Regular services at 8:00 a.m.,10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
New casual service beginning Easter Sunday, in the Family Life Center at 10:00 a.m.! Music, same message, same spirit . . . In a casual way!
IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME LUKE 22:19
Jesus came to earth,
To show us how to live,
How to put others first,
How to love and how to give.
Then He set about His work,
That God sent Him to do;
He took our punishment on Himself;
He made us clean and new.
He could have saved Himself,
Calling angels from above,
But He chose to pay our price for sin;
He paid it out of love.
He is Risen
Our Lord died on Good Friday,
But the cross did not destroy
His resurrection on Easter morn
That fills our hearts with joy.
Now we know our earthly death,
Like His, is just a rest.
We'll be forever with Him
In heaven, where life is best.
So we live our lives for Jesus,
Think of Him in all we do.
Thank you Savior; Thank you Lord.
Help us love like you
Easter Joy
Our sins are forgiven.
Share this blessing with us through music and a beautiful video production on
Palm Sunday, April 13th at 6:00pm in the sanctuary.
Watch the Easter story come to life as the Chancel Choir recounts Jesus' final breath on the cross and celebrates His
victory over death's stronghold. It’s a celebration of the triumphant message of Easter!
. Please plan to join us for this moving musical!
