A WHALE?

Enormous Bahia Magdalena is home to thousands of

breeding gray whales. The gray whale spends its summers

in the waters off of Alaska, and then heads 6,000 miles

south December through March to the warmer waters of

Baja to mate & give birth in protected shallow lagoons.

Bahia Magdalena, which stretches about 100 miles from

north to south, is also host to dolphins & more than 100

species of marine birds, including huge white pelicans,

brant geese, and many waders. These birds enjoy

spending their winters in the emerald mangrove forests

that line the lagoon. On the other side of the dunes and

barrier islands that separate Bahia Magdalena from the

Pacific Ocean you'll find surf-pounded beach studded with

countless shipwrecks and tragic history.

During our excursion to Bahia Magdalena you will

experience why this part of Baja is famous for one of the

"closest" encounters with a gray whale possible because

our panga boats, captained by certified guides, are allowed

to get within touching distance of these giants. During the

course of one visit it is often possible to see up to 5-10

whales.
