Habitat For Humanity Honors Supporters
Riverfront BroadcastingLLC, KYNT, KK93, KDAM andProBuild Inc. were honored atHabitat for Humanity-SouthDakota’s annual Supporter ofthe Year banquet. The pur-pose of the annual celebrationis to inform, inspire and in-vest. The Yankton County affil-iate was featured at thecelebration as Julie Dykstratook the group on a tour of theHabitat 500 Bike Ride. TeamYankton has been involved inthe annual ride for 15 yearsand this past year raised justunder $20,000! Alisa Ruzicka, stole the show as she sharedher experience of traveling toAfrica on a Habitat Learn andBuild experience. The eveningconcluded with the recogni-tion of the Supporters of theYear from each affiliate.
The Yankton County isblessed to have the support of
the two local business part-ners. The first is KYNT, KK93and KDAM Radio, locallyowned by Doyle and CarolynBecker. Riverfront Broadcast-ing has embraced the work ofHabitat’s Christian housingministry throughout the years. The news team is always thefirst to get the scoop on ourPublic Service Announce-ments. Whether it’s a requestfor homeowners or volun-teers, a groundbreaking orhouse dedication ceremony, special event or reports fromthe Habitat 500; Habitat ofYankton County knows thatthey can count on coveragefrom KYNT, KK93 and KDAMRadio! In addition, this pastJuly the Riverfront Broadcast-ing team pulled together for avery successful event calledthe Habitat Stud-A-Thon whichhelped raise awareness for the
need of affordable housingand $10,000 to help pay forbuilding materials for house#37 located at 116 RainbowStreet.
The second is ProBuild Inc,a local partner for many years. The staff has gone the extramile to learn the operations ofour build. They work withHabitat to save money on thepurchase of building materialsand offer discounted pricingoptions. This past summer, they donated materials andspace to help Habitat build ashed/playhouse to be raffled. In addition, they volunteeredtime to deliver and set up theshed/playhouse and the studsto sell at the Stud-A-Thon.Without the support fromthese businesses and otherlocal business, Habitat for Hu-manity of Yankton Countywould be unable to provide af-
fordable housing for familiesin need of a “hand up.”
This annual event is a timeto celebrate statewide accom-plishments throughout thepast year. Habitat affiliates inSouth Dakota completed theconstruction of 26 new homes.Habitat affiliates reached anadditional 55 families throughthe Neighborhood Revitaliza-tion Initiative and the A BrushWith Kindness Program.
