Those are words I’ve been saying to myself lately. It’s almost the end of the school year with only one week left. Working in the field of teaching and coaching is not a small task. I’ve enjoyed it so much but I have to admit that working with youth can be challenging. For the Elementary teacher, working with 19 six year olds all day long and then doing after school programs, lesson planning, and field trips has it’s rewards, but it does become very tiring at times. However, my fellow teachers love the children and we really want to finish the school year strong. So, Let’s Finish strong! As parents, I understand the daily hustle to stay on top of things with work, family, events, tuition, bills, graduations, sports, and encouraging your child to keep working hard in class as the school year comes to an end. Parenting is a journey that we don’t have all figured out but we do our best! And, in all that energy we use, we love our children and we really want the best for them. So, Let’s Finish Strong! The Apostle Paul encourages us not to give up or give in but to finish the race. In other words, it’s not how strong you start, but how strong you finish that matters. It’s not how you started the school year; it’s how you finish it. It’s about pressing on and winning the prize. However, in order to win the prize you must finish the race. So, Let’s Finish Strong! ___________________________________________________________________________________________________  Finish strong!

Acknowledgement of Risk In consideration of the services of Rehoboth Christian School, its agents, employees, trustees, officers, contractors and all other persons or entities associated with it (collectively referred to as “RCS”) in courses including but not limited to the Destination Rehoboth program, the ropes course, climbing program, I agree as follows: Although RCS has taken reasonable steps to provide me with appropriate equipment and skilled staff for the course SO I can enjoy an activity for which I may not be skilled, I acknowledge that the activity has risks inherent in the activity. The same elements that contribute to the unique character of the activity can cause accidental injury, illness, or in extreme cases permanent trauma, disability or death. I acknowledge that my own lack of skill and experience increases the risk I face. I understand that this is not meant to frighten or reduce my enthusiasm but that it is important for me to know in advance the inherent risks. The following describes some, but not all of these risks:

• Living, camping, and travel out of doors, where participants are subject to numerous risks environmental and otherwise. Activities vary from backpacking, rappelling, mountaineering, climbing, snowfields and rock cliffs, kayaking, rafting, canoeing, skiing, fishing, and caving.

• Courses may occur in remote places distant from medical facilities. Communication and transportation are difficult and medical care and evacuation may significantly delayed.

• Ropes course where participants are involved in initiatives 30-35 feet off the ground. Climbing where participants also are off the ground a considerable distance, however, always on belay.

• Other risks include insects, snakes, cold water, open fires and stoves, and other environmental conditions such as snow, rain, cold, heat, etc.

• Decision, are made by instructors and students in wilderness settings, based on variety of perceptions and evaluations which have to be made but may by nature be imprecise and subject to error. Students are responsible for their own safety throughout the courses we offer as a part of their own responsibility taking.

My participation in this activity is purely voluntary and I elect to participate with full knowledge of the inherent risks. I agree to assume responsibility for these inherent risks both those identified and those not specifically identified. I understand that the description above of these risks is not complete and there are other unanticipated risks. Therefore, I and my parents, if I am a minor, assume and accept full responsibility for me for injury, death and loss of personal property and expenses that may result from the inherent risks and dangers identified herein and those not specifically identified.

Acknowledgement of Release Except with respect to injury or loss that occurs on public lands whose rules and regulations prohibit my doing so, I acknowledge and assume all risks of the course, known and unknown, inherent or otherwise. I release and discharge, and agree to defend and indemnify the RCS, its agents, employees, trustees, officers, contractors, and all other persons or entities associated with (collectively referred to as "RCS") from all claims and liability for any loss or damage in any way connected with my participation in this course, This includes loss damage claimed to be caused by the negligence of RCS. I also agree to protect and indemnify RCS from claims or loss or injury to persons attempting to rescue me. I understand that in signing this document I surrender my right to make a claim or tile a lawsuit against RCS for Personal injury or property damage, wrongful death, or otherwise, except

in cases of intentional wrongs or gross negligence. I further agree that if I have a legal dispute with RCS, that the means for settling this dispute will be first, discussion between parties, second through mediation before a mutually acceptable mediator recognized by New Mexico courts qualified to mediate, or as a last resort, through a binding arbitration through the American Arbitration Association or New Mexico. I also agree to pay all costs and attorney's fees incurred by RCS in defending a claim or suit, if withdrawn by me of if determined RCS is not responsible for the injury or loss.
