Outdoor Ed - The final trip for the school year has been set, and
we are headed out to the new Castle Mountain Provincial Park near
Lethbridge June 13-16. Students will be backcountry camping, hiking,
fishing, and exploring the tunnels under the Frank Slide; it promises to
be an action-packed couple of days in June. It isn't too early to start
planning for next year...students will once again be invited to a
registration evening as our first orientation trip will be the third week of
September before our big fall trip to the Adam's River salmon run in

Congratulations to the SCCHS Wind Orchestra, Wind Ensemble and Sr.
Jazz Band for bringing home golds from the Regina Provincial Optimist
Festival March 21st and 22nd. All three ensembles received highest
rankings for superior performance and also received invitations to National
Musicfest Canada in Ottawa in 2019. The SCCHS Jr. Jazz Band also came
home with silvers. Well done everyone.
The music students at S.C.C.H.S. have been busy preparing for the senior
music department trip. On April 11, the band and choral students will
embark on a trip to Alberta where they will be participating in the Rocky
Mountain Music Festival in Banff. This intensive festival includes
performances as well as workshops, and it is a valuable learning experience
for our young musicians. The students have worked very hard in anticipation of this festival, and they are looking forward to growing as musicians and building camaraderie with each other.

SCC Student of the Month The School Community Council has developed an initiative aimed at
motivating and increasing connections with students. The Student of the
Month will be given out to one student in grades 9, 10, 11 and 12.
Students are nominated by their teachers to the SCC, and from those
nominated students a random selection process is used by the SCC to
determine the recipient of the award. Each month a different department
in the school will be nominating students. This month it was Science.
Each Student of the Month will receive a $10 coupon from the SCCHS
Cafeteria, sponsored by the SCC.
Grade 9 Nominated Students- Ben Schuetz, Chris Israelson, Parth Shah
Grade 9 Student of the Month- Ben Schuetz
Ben has a genuine interest in Science. During class discussions he is
always the first student to answer questions or offer input. He remains
focused when we go into the lab and wants to know why things happen.
He is a pleasure to have in class.
Grade 10 Nominated Students- Jessie Schwartz
Grade 10 Student of the Month – Jessie Schwartz
Jessie is a positive student who is inclusive towards her peers. She has a
strong work ethic which is seen in her academic habits in science 10.
Grade 11 Nominated Students- Dawson Abbott
Grade 11 Student of the Month- Dawson Abbott
Dawson is a pleasure to have in class. He is mature, helpful, independent
and a hard worker. If an assignment needs to be completed or a project
needs to be finished, Dawson always puts in the extra effort to make sure
it is done to the best of his ability.
Grade 12 Nominated Students- Quinn Hodges, Mackenzie Broughton,
Aaron Wittmier, Kennedy Choofoo, Cornelius Wiebe, Hunter Vance,
Andrew Steinley
Grade 12 Student of the Month- Hunter Vance
Hunter is a quiet student who works hard to improve his understanding
and knowledge of a subject. He is willing to grow as a learner and is not
afraid to ask for help. He is an inquisitive student and strives for deeper
learning in class and is a positive role model for his peers.
