Description:A black and white ier promoting a graduate leadership conference.
Date:May 10th, 2014
Course/Instructor:Comm 130, Brother Judkins
Program(s)/Tools:Adobe InDesign
Objectives:Use InDesign to create a ier layoutApply typography rules
Process:Using sketches as a template, I designed this layout in AdobeInDesign. I tried to keep it very open and clean looking by usinglots of white space. I used the same lines, grey backing for some
text boxes, as well as black boxes for repetition. I used contrast toemphasize the letter G in the title to catch the attention of theviewer. From there, I used the text boxes and bold titles and wordsfor ow, to guide the reader down the page and to the information.

Description:Amontage, made of three dierent images blended together.
Date:June 1st, 2014
Course/Instructor:Comm 130, Brother Judkins
Program(s)/Tools:Adobe Photoshop
Objectives:Use Photoshop to blend images together.
Process:The picture of the ruins was used as the background while theother two images were layers on top of it. Using the masking andpaintbrush tools, I blended the images together to look like one.For the picture on the right, I simply dragged the entire image over
and used the paintbrush to blend it from there, while for the girl onthe left, I lassod her image to make a smoother blending of color. For the font, I picked a heavier, black one one the left to create adarker feel, while I picked a lighter, white one on the right to give a
more cheerful/happy feel.

Description:Three logos for a made up company.
Date:June 8th, 2014
Course/Instructor:Comm 130, Brother Judkins
Program(s)/Tools:Adobe Illustrator
Objectives:Learn to use the pen tool in IllustratorApply principles to create simple logos
Process:I used the anchor point tool to tweak all the logos. For the top one,I traced the outline of a ower with the pen tool, then made it soevery other petal overlapped. For the middle, I used various shape
tools and the pathnder tool to create the the rising sun and itsrays. For the bottom, I traced the outline of a branch using the pentool, lled it, then used the rst ower I made, copied them, and putthem on. I used the text tool to make the tests for all of them and
created outlines to modify the letters individually.

Description:A full-bleed photodesign project.
Date:May 25th, 2014
Course/Instructor:Comm 130, Brother Judkins
Program(s)/Tools:Cannon Rebel T3 camera
Adobe Photoshop
Objectives:Learn to edit photos in Photoshop
Process:I used several layers to edit the image separately to make sure Icould go back change anything if I wanted. I edited the pictureusing 4 dierent things: levels, vibrance/saturation, selective
colours, and the sharpness tool. After I edited the picture, I usedthe shape tool to create the two triangles, the rectangular line atthe bottom and the three colour swatches. The colours I chosewere based o of the water, the trees in the background, and the
brick surrounding the water; a triadic scheme.

Date:June 15th, 2014
Course/Instructor:Comm 130, Brother Judkins
Program(s)/Tools:Adobe Illustrator
Adobe InDesign
Objectives:Learn the principles of a simple business card
Importance of spacing on small layouts
Process:I used the same two lines I used in the letterhead to down the side,to make sure the two looked like they were linked. I put the logo in
the top corner, with the company name next to it. I made sure toput the contact information at the bottom in order to leave plenty
of white space on the card.

Description:Matching letterhead and business card design for a company.
Date:June 15th, 2014
Course/Instructor:Comm 130, Brother Judkins
Program(s)/Tools:Adobe Illustrator
Adobe InDesign
Objectives:Learn to create uned elements in seperate designs
Understand and apply principles of watermarks
Process:I used the line tool to create the two lines that I put at both the topand bottom to create unity and provide a sort of border for the
letter. For the watermark, I used the middle section of the bow onthe logo and re-sized it to t the entire page. From there, I turned
the opacity down to 3% to keep it from being too distracting.
