BATTERY & CHARGING SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

THIS MANUAL CONTAINS IMPORTANT SAFETY AND OPERATINGINSTRUCTIONS FOR YOUR BATTERY CHARGER.

• Before using the charger, read all instructions and cautionary markings on thecharger, the battery pack and the product using the battery pack.

Danger! If the battery pack case is cracked or damaged, do not insertinto charger. There is a danger of electric shock or electrocution.

Warning! Don’t allow any liquid to get inside charger. Electric shock mayresult. To facilitate cooling of the battery pack after use, avoid placing thecharger or battery pack in a warm environment such as in a metal shed, oran uninsulated trailer.

• This charger is not intended for any uses other than charging rechargeablebatteries. Any other use may result in the risk of fire, electric shock or electrocution.

• Do not place any objects on top of the battery or charging stand whilst it'sbeing charged, doing so may result in excessive internal heat. Place the batteryand charging stand away from other heat sources when recharging the battery.

• To reduce the risk of damage to the transformer and cord, pull by thetransformer rather than the cord when disconnecting the transformer from thepower supply (power point).

• Make sure the cord is located so that it will not be stepped on, tripped over, orotherwise subjected to damage or stress.

• An extension cord should not be used unless absolutely necessary. Use of animproper extension cord could result in the risk of fire, electric shock or electrocution.

• Do not operate the transformer and stand if they have received a sharp blow, been dropped or otherwise damaged in any way.

• Do not disassemble the transformer or charging stand if service or repair isrequired. Incorrect reassembling may result in a risk of electric shock, electrocution or fire. New chargers can be obtained through Ozito by your localBunnings special orders desk.

• To reduce the risk of electric shock, unplug the transformer from the socketoutlet before attempting any cleaning.

• Never attempt to connect 2 separate transformers together.

• DO NOT store or use the battery in locations where the temperature may reachor exceed 40ºC (such as outside sheds or metal buildings in summer).

• The transformer is designed to operate on standard household electrical power(230 – 240 volts). Do not attempt to use it on any other voltage.

• The longest life and best performance can be obtained if the battery ischarged when the air temperature is between 18 - 24ºC. Do not charge thebattery in an air temperature below 10º C or above 40º C. This is importantand will prevent damage.

• Do not incinerate battery even if it is seriously damaged or completely wornout. Batteries can explode in a fire.

Charging the Battery

The air pump has been shipped in a low charge condition. First read the safetyinstructions and then follow the charging procedures.

Plug the AC charger adaptor (17) in an appropriate AC poweroutlet and switch on at the mains.

Insert the charger jack (14) into the charger cradle socket (15) (Fig.1).

With the 12V battery pack (5) sitting flat on a bench/table, placethe recess of the charging cradle over the battery terminal ensuring a firm connection (Fig.2). Upon proper contact, the redlight will illuminate.

NOTE: The 12V battery pack (5) fitsone way only. Ensure the “+”and “-” markings on the recess side of the cradle are matched tothose of the battery terminal.

The 12V battery pack (5) will take approximately 3-5 hours to charge. This may vary upto 7 hours due to the level of charge left in the batteries and also the ambient temperature.

Once the 12V battery pack (5) is fully charged, it is recommended that the charger isdisconnected from the power supply.

NOTE: When the 12V battery pack (5) charge runs out after continuous use orexposure to direct sunlight or heat, allow time for the 12V battery pack (5) to cooldown before recharging to achieve the full charge.

Removing / Installing 12V Battery Pack to the Air Pump Handle

Always switch off the air pump before insertion or removal of the12V battery pack (5).

Locate the latches on the sides of the 12V battery pack (5) anddepress. Pull the 12V battery pack (5) from the handle of the airpump (Fig.3).

After recharging, slide the 12V battery pack (5) into the handle ofthe air pump; ensure the battery pack release buttons (4) oneither side of the 12V battery pack (5) click into place and the12V battery pack (5) is secured prior to using the air pump.

Note: Do not use force when inserting the 12V battery pack (5). If the 12V batterypack (5) does not slide in easily; it is not being inserted correctly.

Battery

The length of service from each charging will depend on the type of work being performed.

the 12V battery pack (5) in the air pump has been designed to provide maximumtrouble free life. However, like all batteries, they will eventually wear out. To obtain thelongest possible battery life, we suggest the following:

• Store and charge the 12V battery pack (5) in a cool area. Temperatures above orbelow normal room temperature will shorten battery life.

• Never store the air pump in a discharged condition. Recharge the 12V battery pack(5) immediately after having been discharged.

• All batteries gradually lose their charge. The higher the temperature, the quickerthey lose their charge. If you store your air pump for long periods of time withoutusing it, recharge the batteries every two or three months. This practice willprolong battery life.

Recommendations for the use of a residual current device with a rated residualcurrent of 30mA or less.

Before using the Air Pump

• Before inserting the battery pack into the pump, ensure any fittings, i.e. flexibleextension hose (9) etc. have been fixed firmly.

• Ensure the relevant fasteners have been tightly secured in place and the workpiece is adequately clamped.

• Always ensure the 12V battery pack (5) is disconnected before making anyadjustments.

• Your 12V battery pack (5) is uncharged and you must charge once before use(see Battery and Charging operation- page 7). Your 12V battery pack (5) will notbe fully charged until you have performed several charge and dischargeoperations by charging and working with your air pump. After this, your 12Vbattery pack (5) performance will improve.

The Ozito Cordless Air Pump can be powerd by the 12V battery pack (5) or from a12V cigarette lighter adaptor (13) outlet.

• To operate with the 12V battery pack (5), simply insert charged 12V batterypack (5) into the base of the air pump until the latches engage.

• To operate from a motor vehicle’s 12V cigarette lighter adaptor (13) outletselect the accessory position by turning the ignition key and plug the chargercradle (16) into the 12V cigarette lighter adaptor (13). OPERATION (cont.)

9

Inserting/Removing Accessories

Remove the accessory adaptor (10,11,12) from the accessoriesholder (6) at the base of the air pump. Hold the brass section ofthe flexible extension hose (9) stationary, while screwing in themale threaded end of the accessory clockwise until finger tight.

NOTE: Do not use pliers or multigrips to tighten accessories asthis action risks stripping the thread, also take care not to ‘cross-thread’, doing so willnot be covered under the warranty.

Cross threading is when the male and female threaded connectors are not alignedcorrectly and have been force-screwed together, damaging the thread.

Turning On/Off

To lock, slide the safety-lock switch (8) to the left-hand position(“lock”). To unlock, slide the safety-lock switch (8) to the righthand position (“unlock”). To turn the air pump on, squeeze theon/off safety lock switch (8) is in the “unlock” position. To turnoff, release the on/off switch (7).

Inflating

• The air pump should not be operated for extended periods of time without beingallowed to cool.

• Operate the air pump for a maximum of 10 minute intervals, and then allow to restfor 10 minutes. If the air pump is used continuously for long periods, this couldcause the pump piston within the air pump to over heat and prematurely wear out.

• Know the manufacturer’s recommended value of pressure for the target objectbefore inflating. Follow the recommended values.

Ozito Industries will not be responsible for damage caused to targets by the useradministering incorrect pressure levels. This will void the warranty.

• To attach the pump to the target object. Hold the brass section of the flexibleextension hose (9) end, align it with the male threaded end of the target object’svalve, and screw in clockwise until finger tight. Do not use pliers or multigrips toconnect the valves.

• Ensure there are no leakage problems with the connection between the air pumpand the target.

Note: If the target object is already pressurised, some air leakage may occur while inprocess of fully attaching and creating a seal. In this case it is important to work quicklyto avoid excessive loss of air / pressure.

• Unlock the safety lock switch (8), and turn the air pump on to begin inflating of thetarget object.

• Periodically, release the on/off switch (7), check the air pressure gauge (3) (see AirPressure Gauge section - Pg10) and squeeze the target object to judge the level of inflation.

• After use, reactivate the safety lock switch (8) to avoid accidental start-up.

• To remove the pump from the target object, reverse the attaching procedure.

10

Inflating Tyres

Most tyre valves will connect directly with the flexible extension hose’s (9) brassfitting but some tyres may have specialised valves in which case , one of the brassaccessory adaptors (10, 11) provided may need to be used.

Inflating other objects

To inflate other pneumatic toys, sport balls, gym balls and blow up beach/poolapparatuses etc. with air, use the general inflating adaptor (12) or ball adaptor (10),following the instructions on the relevant apparatus.

Air Pressure Gauge

An air pressure gauge (3) is included in the rear of the airpump, this can be used as a guide for inflation.

• Connect and pump the target as previously described.

• Release the on/off switch (7) (so the pump ceases to operate).

• To gain a true indication of pressure, leave the air pumpconnected to the target object. Now look squarely intothe gauge dial to attain the pressure reading.

Note: Looking at the gauge dial at an angle with give false readings. Pressuregauge readings will not be accurate when the air pump is switched on, only takefinal readings when the switch has been released.

• To prevent dirt, dust and other debris from entering the air pump, ensure theventilation slots of the air pump are clean and clear of the ground and allfittings are clean.

• Should the air pump not be used for prolonged periods of time, recharge thebatteries every two months.

• Keep the ventilation slots of the air pump clean at all times. If possible preventforeign matter from entering the vents.

• After each use, blow air through the air pump to ensure it is free from all dustparticles which may build up. Build up of dust particles may cause the air pumpto over heat and fail.

• If the housing of the air pump requires cleaning do not use solvents but amoist soft cloth only. Never let any liquid get inside the air pump; neverimmerse any part of the air pump into a liquid.

Note: Ozito Industries will not be responsible for any damage or injuries caused bythe repair of the air pump by an unauthorised person or by mishandling of theair pump.
