ARMINGThere are two different ways to arm youralarm. Tell your dealer which is best for you:

q Active Arming

Turn your ignition OFF.Close all the doors. Thenpress the Lock button. Ifthe siren chirps and parkinglights flash once, the alarm isfully armed.

If the siren chirps 3 times, the alarm iseither waiting for the vehicle's delayeddomelights to turn OFF (if your vehicle isso equipped), or it is telling you that one ofthe alarm's zones (a door, or the hood ortrunk) is either open or is not functioningproperly. (See ZONE BYPASS, page 5).Also, check to make sure your car'sdomelight switch was not left in the ONposition.

q Passive arming

Turn the ignition OFF, and open a door toexit the car. When the last door is closed(and the domelight turns OFF, if your carhas delayed domelights), the siren chirpsand the parking lights flash once. The LEDflashes quickly during the 30-secondarming countdown, after which the sirenchirps and parking lights flash once moreto confirm the alarm is completely armed.

If you wish, you can open a door duringthe arming countdown, and keep it openfor as long as needed. The LED turns OFFwhile the door is opened. Close the lastdoor, and the siren will chirp and parking

lights flash once to show the 30-secondarming countdown has started again. TheLED will also begin to flash quickly again.

If you close the last open door, and the sirendoes not chirp and parking lights do not flash, you know that one or more openings are notclosed properly. This is SECO-LARM'spatented Quick and Quiet Testing (Q.Q.T.™),and it prevents you from thinking your alarm isarmed when it may not be. In this case, double-check that all the doors, as well as the hoodand trunk, are closed properly, and that yourvehicle's domelights are OFF. If you cannotlocate the problem, but need to arm thealarm, then press the Lock button toimmediately arm the alarm and bypasswhatever zone is open (see ZONE BYPASS,page 5).

Door Locks — The system can beprogrammed to automatically lock the doorswhen armed. Ask your dealer.

NOTE — Under passive arming, you can forceyour alarm to arm immediately any timeduring the 30-second arming countdown bypressing the Lock button.

NOTE — Make sure your car's domelightswitch is not in the ON position when you armyour alarm either actively or passively. Thealarm may not arm properly if the domelightswitch is left ON.

NOTE — There are references to opening orclosing a door throughout this manual. "Door"also includes your hood and trunk, if they areprotected. Ask your dealer.

ARMEDWhen the 30-second arming countdown ends, or when the Lockbutton is pressed, the siren chirps and parking lights flash once, and the LED starts flashing to show the alarm is armed.

When you press the Lock button to arm thealarm, and the alarm responds with threechirps and three light flashes, there are twopossibilities:

A. Delayed domelights — If your domelightsdo not immediately turn OFF when youclose your car door (in other words, yourvehicle has delayed domelights), this isnormal. The alarm should protect all theopenings once the domelights go OFF.

B. A zone was bypassed — In other words, the alarm has armed, but a door may notbe protected (either because it is open, or

ZONE BYPASSbecause its pin switch is broken). If thebypassed door is later closed, it will berestored.

If your alarm indicates a bypassed zone, findthe cause as soon as possible to ensure yourvehicle is completely protected. For instance, ifyour driver's door is not properly closed whenyou arm your alarm, a thief may be able toopen any door without setting off the alarm.

NOTE — The chirps to confirm zone bypasswill not sound if chirp delete is engaged. However, the parking lights will still flash threetimes. See CHIRP DELETE, page 7.

To trigger the alarm in an emergency, pressthe Panic button for 1 seconds. The sirensounds and the parking lights flash for about30 seconds. Stop the siren and the parkinglights any time by pressing the Panic buttonagain.

EMERGENCY CALL FOR HELP (PANIC)

SENSOR BYPASSThis is useful if you know, based onexperience, that your shock sensor (or otheradd-on sensors) will false trigger, such aswhen you park near a construction site.

Should you wish to bypass your alarm'ssensors, first press the Lock button to arm thealarm (even if the alarm is set for passivearming). The siren chirps and the parkinglights flash once (three times if a zone isbypassed) to confirm armed. Within threeseconds, press the Auxiliary (*) button. Thesiren chirps three times and the parking lights

flash three times to confirm sensors arebypassed. The sensors are automaticallyrestored the next time the Lock button ispressed.

NOTE — The chirps to confirm zone bypasswill not sound if chirp delete is engaged. However, the parking lights will still flash threetimes. See CHIRP DELETE, page 7.

l If the shock sensor detects light taps on thecar, it will trigger the pre-intrusion alert (thesiren chirps three times and the parkinglights flash three times) to warn potentialthieves and vandals. However, if the shocksensor detects a strong shock to the car, such as shock caused by prying the trunkopen, it will trigger the alarm for 30seconds. (See DUAL-STAGE SHOCKSENSOR, page 8.)

l Optional SECO-LARM shock, motion,glass-break, and microwave sensors willoffer your alarm additional protection. Askyour SECO-LARM dealer.

While your alarm is armed, your car isprotected in the following ways:

l Potential thieves or vandals should bedeterred by the flashing LED.

l If anyone opens a door, the alarm willimmediately sound the siren and flash theparking lights for up to three 30-secondcycles, after which the alarm will rearm, bypassing any open doors.

l Turning the ignition key ON will trigger thealarm for 30 seconds.

l The starter disable prevents the car frombeing started.

TOTAL PROTECTION

DISARMING

PATENTED STAY-SAFE DISARMTM

Any time your alarm is triggered (the siren issounding and the parking lights are flashing),press the Lock button once to shut the sirenand flashing parking lights OFF while thealarm stays completely armed.

NOTE — If a door was open when youpressed the Lock button, the siren chirps threetimes and the parking lights flash three timesto confirm it is not protected (see ZONEBYPASS, page 5).

To disarm the alarm, press the Unlockbutton. The siren chirps twice, theparking lights flash twice thenturn steady ON for 6 seconds(or until you turn the ignitionON), and the LED turns OFF.What happens next depends onhow your alarm is set (ask yourdealer):

q Alarm set for active arming withSecure LockTM off

The alarm is now completely disarmed.

q Alarm set for active arming withSecure LockTM on

The system will automatically rearm andrelock the doors 30 seconds later unless adoor is opened during this time. This

prevents accidental disarming. During this30-second period, the LED flashes quickly.

qAlarm set for passive arming

The system will automatically rearm itself30 seconds later. If a door is opened, thesystem temporarily disarms. Closing theopen door will again cause the system toenter the 30 second rearm period.

If set for Secure LockTM, the doors will lockwhen the system rearms. Otherwise, thedoors do not automatically relock.

There are times, especially at night, when youmay not want to hear the siren chirps. Thereare 2 ways to delete chirps:

A. One-time delete — Just press theAuxiliary (*) button any time before youneed the chirps deleted. For instance, press the Auxiliary (*) button before youpress the Lock button to arm the alarm, and the chirps will not sound, but theparking lights will still flash. The chirps arerestored the next time you press atransmitter button.

B. Permanent delete — Your dealer canprogram your alarm to delete the chirps ona permanent basis.

NOTE — Either method deletes the arm, disarm, pre-intrusion, zone bypass, sensorbypass, emergency disarm, valet, and tamperchirps. However, they do not affect theflashing parking lights.

CHIRP DELETE (silent arm/disarm)

TRUE TRIGGERTM

True Trigger stops repeated false triggers frombecoming a nuisance. Alarm sensors (exceptpre-intrusion) which trigger five times while thealarm is armed are automatically bypassed. The rest of the alarm, however, continues toprotect the vehicle. All such bypassed sensorsautomatically reset when the alarm isdisarmed, or if 30 minutes pass after thesensor was tripped for a fifth time with nofurther triggering of any sensors or the pre-

intrusion. However, if any sensor or the pre-intrusion is triggered during the 30-minutecountdown, the countdown restarts.

(This feature can be programmed on or off —ask your dealer.)

If you lose your transmitter, you can disarmyour alarm with the ignition key and “VEPLe”switch. While your alarm is either armed ortriggered, turn the ignition switch ON. Within15 seconds, press and release the VEPLeswitch 3 times. The siren and the flashinglights stop if the alarm was triggered, and thenchirp and flash three times. The alarm is now

EMERGENCY DISARM

in valet (see VALET on page 8). (Ask yourdealer where the switch is hidden.)

VALETSometimes you may not wish your alarm toarm when you leave your vehicle. (Forinstance, if you leave your car with a valetattendant, you may not want to teach him howthe alarm operates.) If your alarm is set foractive (manual) arming, this is easy — don’tpress the Lock button, and the alarm will notarm. However, if your alarm is set to armpassively, use the valet mode to prevent it fromarming.

To enter valet, first disarm the alarm and turnthe ignition ON. Within 15 seconds, pressand release the VEPLe button three times. Thealarm is now in the valet mode. The sirenchirps and the parking lights flash once toconfirm. (Your alarm also goes into valet

when you use emergency disarm. SeeEMERGENCY DISARM on page 7).

To exit valet, just turn the ignition ON and, within 15 sec., press and release the VEPLebutton three times. The siren chirps twice andthe parking lights flash twice to confirm thatvalet is exited and the alarm is now disarmed.

If you press the Lock or Unlock button whilethe alarm is in valet, the doors will lock orunlock, and the parking lights will flash fourtimes. The alarm's emergency call for helpand 2nd channel output operate normally.

l 4 flashes — A doorwas opened.

l 5 flashes — The hoodor trunk was opened.

These “memory” flashesautomatically reset whenthe ignition is turned ON.

If your alarm was triggered when you wereaway, the siren will chirp four times and theparking lights flash four times then turn ONfor six seconds when you disarm your alarm. The LED flashes in quick cycles to show wherethe car was violated as follows:

l 2 flashes — The alarm was triggered viaemergency call for help (panic), or theignition switch was turned on.

l 3 flashes — Shock sensor or other add-onsensor was triggered.

TAMPER INDICATORS & TRIGGER ZONE ID

DUAL-STAGE SHOCK SENSORYour alarm can be installed with an optionaldual-stage shock sensor.

The first stage (pre-intrusion alert) warnsthieves the alarm is armed. For instance, thealarm will chirp three times and the parkinglights will flash three times if the sensor detectsa light bump to the vehicle. However, if the

thief attacks the car with sufficient force, thealarm will trigger. (Your dealer can make theshock sensor more or less sensitive to attack, depending on your vehicle.)

NOTE — The shock sensor will not be ready totrigger the alarm until five seconds after thealarm is armed.

With this optional feature, while your alarm isarmed, your car will not start, even if a thiefhas your keys.

Your alarm also has Automatic Starter Disable(ASD™). If your alarm is set for active arming, and you do not arm your alarm, ASD

automatically engages the starter disable 10minutes after you turned the ignition switchOFF. The LED stays ON constantly to showASD is engaged. Once engaged, you mustpress the Lock button to disengage ASD beforethe car will start. (Programmable — ask yourdealer.)

STARTER DISABLE

With this optional feature, whenever youdisarm the alarm, your car’s domelights turnON for 30 seconds. This helps find your car

at night and make sure no one is hiding in it.If the alarm is triggered, your car’s domelightswill continuously flash.

2nd CHANNEL OUTPUT

DOMELIGHT SUPERVISION

Your transmitter has an extra channel tocontrol optional accessories.

2nd channel is commonly used to "pop" thetrunk. To use, press the Auxiliary (*) button fortwo seconds, either while the ignition is ONand any door is opened, or while the ignitionis OFF. The alarm will disarm first to preventthe siren from sounding. (NOTE — If nodoors are connected directly to your alarm, the2nd channel will not operate with the ignitionON. Ask your dealer for details.)

With this optional feature, your alarm canautomatically lock the doors when armed andunlock the doors when disarmed. The doorslock when you press the Lock button andunlock when you press the Unlock button.

For extra security, they lock automatically if thealarm is triggered. (Exception — SeeEMERGENCY CALL FOR HELP, page 5.)

Your alarm can be programmed for ignition-controlled operation (doors lock when you turnthe ignition ON, and/or unlock when theignition is turned OFF). It can also beprogrammed to lock the doors every time thealarm passively arms (be careful not to leave thekeys and transmitters in the car, though!).Ask your dealer.
