PRINCIPLES OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION EVENTSThe performance element will move from a content interview format to a business situation.
21ST CENTURY SKILLS EVALUATIONThe evaluation forms for Principles of Business Administration Events, Individual Series Events and Personal Financial Literacy event will include performance indicators and the evaluation of 21st Century Skills.
21ST CENTURY SKILLS EVALUATION• How effectively the student reasons
and uses systems thinking• How effectively the student makes
judgments and decisions, and solves problems
• How clearly they communicate• Creativity in addressing the problem
or issue at hand
MARKETING SWAP • The Marketing Communications Team
Decision making event will become Marketing Management Team Decision Making.
• The Marketing Management Individual Series event will become Marketing Communications Individual Series.
FRANCHISE BUSINESS PLANThe Franchise Business Plan can now be comprised of one to three members of the DECA chapter.
BUSINESS GROWTH PLAN The Business Growth Plan now requires that all of the one to three members be owners listed on the official documentation of ownership.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP EVENTSThe format guidelines and evaluation forms of all Entrepreneurship Events will be modified based on feedback after the first year of implementation.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP EVENTS• The previously scheduled new events
for 2016-2017 (TDM and IS) will be delayed until 2017-2018.
• Performance Indicator lists are now available.

mobile (SoLoMo) strategy.• Analyze current SoLoMo strategies
and practices and present a plan to improve.
FINANCIAL CONSULTING• Student: Financial Consultant• Judge: Client • Scenario: Purchase or lease a new
car.
HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM PROFESSIONAL SELLING• Student: Sales Manager for
Destination Management Company• Judge: Non-Profit Meeting Manager • Scenario: Planning a four-day
meeting for its 25 board of directors in a downtown hotel.
PROFESSIONAL SELLING EVENT• Student: Sales Representative of a
Drone Technology Firm• Judge: Local Real Estate Agent• Scenario: Desire to utilize drones to
help his/her real estate business
INDUSTRY CERTIFICATIONS• Certified Guest Services Professional
(CGSP) - $20• Financial Literacy Certification - $7
Georgia DECA Foundation• It is IMPERATIVE that advisors, chapters,
alumni, and parents support the Foundation!
• Incentives: With a $25 donation…– The chapter will receive (1) extra competitor
slot to be used at region or state• You can receive (1) slot for an advisor donation and
(1) slot for a chapter donation for a total of (2) slots
– The chapter members will be eligible to apply for needs scholarships
GMEA Membership Incentive• Each advisor that is a PAID and CURRENT
member of ACTE/GACTE/GMEA will receive (2) extra competitor slots for their chapter to use at region or state competition
• You must be PAID and CURRENT through March 1, 2017
• Please check your membership to see if it is coming up for renewal so you don’t miss out!
• Deadline to renew membership or join for extra competitor slots is November 1, 2016
