Waterfront Docks & Restrooms Closed

ited to two buckets per house-

hold per storm.

Tax Information

Just a reminder: tax bills are out! The first half is due November 10. Inter-

est starts on November 13. Thirty to forty-five (30-45) impending foreclo-

sure notices will be going out in December for the 2016 taxes. All tax bills

are mailed to the owners as of April 1. If you sold your property after April

1 you can forward the tax bill to the new owner. Property data card infor-

mation can be found at: http://gis.vgsi.com/richmondme/. If you have any

questions or concerns regarding your assessment, please call Laurisa at

737-4305 ext. 208 to schedule an appointment to meet with our assessor.

Homeowners: make sure you apply for your Homestead Exemption. After

you have owned your principal residence for one year and if it is the only

property for which your claiming, you are entitled to $20,000 off the valua-

tion of your property. The deadline for filing is April 1.

Tax Club Information

The tax payment plan benefits the taxpayer by relieving the purpose of

dual lump sum payments and enabling one to budget those obligations out

over a 12 month period as well as avoid interest charges. This in turn ben-

efits the Town by creating a more predictable cash flow. If you have fur-

Town Office Reminders

2018 Transfer station stickers will be available December 2, 2017. The

town will not be transferring over to a card system.

2018 Dog Licenses are available now either at the Town Office or online at

www.richmondmaine.com.

The Town Office will be closed the following holidays November 23, De-

cember 25 and January 1.

The Richmond Transfer Station located on Lincoln Street is open from 9:00a.m.-3:00p.m. every Saturday and 12:00-

4:00p.m. every Wednesday from November-April. (Don’t forget you can drop off your holiday trees at no charge!)

Also located at the Richmond Transfer Station is Single Stream/Zero-sort Recycling for Richmond residents only.

Please No plastic bags/film, plastic grocery bags, stretch wrap, Styrofoam. No foam packaging, ceramics, window

glass, mirrors, light bulbs or dishes. Hard, brittle plastic is not acceptable (i.e. monitors, keyboards, some children’s

toys.)

The Universal Waste Station is located at the Transfer Station. The Universal Waste Station accepts TV’s, fluores-

cent lights, etc.

Please visit: www.richmondmaine.com for more information on acceptable types of wastes. You can purchase a

dump sticker right at the Transfer Station or at the Town Office.

The annual fee for the holding area is $10.00 for residents, $15.00 for Dresden and Pittston residents and $30.00 for

commercial haulers. You can also purchase additional stickers for your household at $2.00/each. NO ENTRY PER-

MITTED WITHOUT A VISIBLE CURRENT STICKER.

There’s the crisp tang in the air, which means that autumn is here. Now’s the time to start thinking about special things you can do

to take advantage of the fall weather.

Below are just a few activities to consider:

Fall foliage excursion – One of the hallmarks of autumn is the changing of the leaves. There’s something about the annual explosion

of color that’s irresistible. If you live near a park, definitely plan to spend some time watching the leaves change over the next few

weeks. For those who may be less ambulatory, a weekend drive through a wooded area can be very diverting.

Apple picking – For those who live near apple farms, an apple-picking trip can be a good multi-generational activity. Kids tend to

love going out to pick the apples; those who are more mobile also get a kick out of it. If you are not really up to walking through an

orchard, bring a chair. You can still enjoy sitting in the bracing air while the grandkids go picking. Many apple farms, Bond’s Or-

chards, Rocky Ridge, Tender sole Farm and Pleasant Pond Farm have produce stands, and you may enjoy picking out a good Hallow-

een pumpkin or a bag of vegetables.

Keep gardening – If you love gardening don’t stop just because summer is over. Mums, marigolds, zinnias, and others do well in the

fall; more importantly, there are numerous bulbs that need to be planted in the fall so that they can pop up in the spring.

Take in a game – Football season is here, go see a game or two. It doesn’t have to be a pro game, either; a high school football

game can be just as much fun, especially if there’s a grandchild playing, cheering, or performing in the band.

Summer is wonderful, but there’s plenty to do in autumn as well. Dress warm and make sure you don’t miss out on the fun. And

DON”T FORGET all the activities here at the Richmond Golden Oldies Senior Center.
