Fabric A (5081-69 Dot – Multi), cut:• (1) 3½” x WOF strip, sub-cut (10) 3 ½” squares.• See instructions to cut (1) Owl Body.

Backing (5072-90 Woodland Patch – Gray), cut:• (2) 69” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together and trim to 60” x 69” to make the back.

1. Follow Figure 1 and sew together (3) assorted 3 ½” squares, (3) assorted 3 ⅞” triangles and (1) 9 ⅞” triangle to make (1) Unit 1 square. The block should measure 9 ½” square. Repeat to make (6) Unit 1 squares total.

3. Follow Figure 5 and sew together the (20) unit squares into a 4 x 5 matrix to make the Unit 5 rectangle.

4. Following the manufacturer’s instructions, trace the listed number of each template onto the paper side of the fusible web. Roughly cut out each template about 1/8” outside the drawn lines.

5. Press each template onto the wrong side of the fabrics as listed on the templates. Cut out each template on the drawn lines.

6. Refer to Figure 6 to arrange and press the components for the (3) Owls onto the Fabric K areas of the Unit 5 rectangle.

7. Finish the raw edges of each shape with a decorative stitch such as a buttonhole or satin stitch to make the Center Block (Fig. 6).

8. Sew (1) 1 ⅝” x 49 ½” Fabric J strip to each side of (1) 4 ¼” x 49 ½” Fabric O strip lengthwise to make (1) Side Border (Fig. 7). Repeat to make a second Side Border.

9. Repeat Steps 6-7 and refer to Figures 8-11 for component identification, placement and orientation to add the (4) Dragonflies to (4) 6 ½” Fabric K squares to make (1) Unit 6 square, (1) Unit 7 square, (1) Unit 8 square and (1) Unit 9 square.

Quilt Layout

Quilt Top Assembly (Follow the Quilt Layout while assembling the quilt top.)12. Sew (1) 2 ½” x 45 ½” Fabric K strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew (1) 2 ½” x 40 ½” Fabric K strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block.

13. Sew (1) Side Border to each side of the Center Block.

14. Sew the Top and Bottom Borders to the Center Block to make the quilt top.

Layering, Quilting and Finishing15. Press the quilt top and 60” x 69” backing well. Layer backing (wrong side up), batting, pressed quilt top (right side up) and baste. Quilt as desired and trim excess batting and backing when quilting is complete.

Binding16. Cut the ends of the (6) Fabric I binding strips at a 45-degree angle and sew end to end to make (1) continuous piece of binding. Fold in half lengthwise and press wrong sides together.

17. Sew the binding to the front of the quilt, raw edges together. Turn the folded edge to the back, and hand stitch in place.
