Warriors fall short of comeback

In the home-opener against 4A No. 1 Cathedral High School, the

Warriors fell short of a miraculous comeback against senior Kofi

Hughes and the Irish.

Battle of the BellThe Warriors took on the crosstown

rival Ben Davis Giants in the Ivy Tech Invitational. Four quarters

weren’t enough for these two teams, as the Warriors pulled out

the overtime victory 23-17.

Another comeback stifledThe Warriors fall short of a

comeback for the second time against class 5A No. 1 Carmel. Down

24-22, the Warriors turned the ball over in Carmel territory with only a

few minutes left in the game.

Mud BowlThe Warriors survive a close call against the

Flashes of Franklin Central on a soggy, torn

up field. The Warriors won 14-13 on a late

interception return by senior Eric Wright.

The “Catch”The Warriors avenge their

loss to Carmel with a 42-36 win in double

overtime against the Greyhounds. One play of contention was a 4th and goal touchdown pass to senior Maurice Magee in

which the ref ruled the play a force out.

9:19 left in 2nd: Bell touchdown run, 74 yards down the Warrior sideline. 14-7

1:12 left in 2nd: 54-yard touchdown pass to Logan. 14-14 10:52 left in 3rd: Carmel blocks Warrior punt. Carmel ball at Warren 6.

10:12 left in 3rd: Carmel touchdown pass from Shaffer to Logan. 21-14

4:19 left in 3rd: Shaffer touchdown pass to Erwin. 28-20

4:40 left in 4th: Hart throws interception.

2:34 left in 4th: Warriors regain possession.

1:05 left in 4th: Hart evades sack on 4th and 6 to complete pass to Magee for a first down.

0:09 left in 4th: 4th-and-goal. Hart slips away from a Carmel defender and slings a pass to the corner of the endzone. Magee catches the ball and is forced out of bounds. Referee makes judgement call and rules touchdown. 28-26

0:01 left in 4th: Hart completes pass to JaJuan Keyes for successful 2-point conversion. 28-28

1st Overtime: Hart runs in for touchdown and Bell scores the 2-point conversion. 36-28

1st Overtime: Carmel matches Warren’s touchdown, sending game to 2nd overtime. 36-36.

2nd Overtime: Carmel is unsuccessful on 4th and 3. Warren gets the ball with a chance to win.

2nd Overtime: Hart sneaks in on 4th-and-inches. Touchdown and win for Warriors. 42-36. Warriors are State Champions.
