Rotary is all about service.
Rotarians develop service projects that address many of today's critical issues: children at risk, disabled persons, health care, international goodwill, literacy, poverty, hunger, the environment, clean water, and polio eradication. Ro-tary also supports programs for youth, educational opportunities and interna-tional exchanges for students, and voca-tional development.
PolioPlus
Started in 1985, Rotary International’s most ambitious program is PolioPlus, a worldwide collaborative effort which seeks to eradicate polio from the face of the earth. As of 2013, it is now en-demic in only three countries (it was 125 countries in 1985!). The end goal is tantalizingly close.
Owego Rotary supports PolioPlus through donations and members who have traveled abroad to support in-country inoculation efforts.
