Overview

Like any capital equipment evaluation, security managers face tough choices in retaining andmaintaining their Access Control system, compared with a full overhaul and transition to newequipment. If the system is still performing, meeting the business requirements, a full replacement islow on the capital planning schedule.

Beyond upgrading or replacing the system, there are certainly additional capital and transition costsinvolved in a system overhaul. A full replacement requires the replacement of existing controllers,proximity readers, credentials, power supplies, enclosures, most of the cabling and connections. Further,a full replacement may draw vital capital resources away from other and perhaps more criticalupgrades to Burg, Fire or CCTV systems.

Path to Retrofit

The alternative to a full system replacement is a phased-in, upgrade strategy and deployment of next-generation of door controllers, with a specially engineered Retrofit Kit. This one-of-a-kind accesscontrol solution provides an easy way to migrate existing Readykey K2000-series door controllers,extending functionality without having to rewire or reprogram cardholders. The existing door controllerchassis is simply removed from the enclosure and the new Retrofit Chassis put in its place. For anexperienced technician, most installations can be completed in 30 minutes or less with a minimumnumber of steps.

Remove power and disconnectall terminal blocks from theK2000 Series Controller

Remove the existing Chassis Plate (with power supply and controller)

Transfer the existing powersupply to the new Retrofit Chassis and place

back into the enclosure

Connect the power adaptor and reconnectthe readers, locks and controllers
