The Arc of MonroeA non-profit organization founded in 1956 to serve

adults (17 or older) with intellectual disabilities.

Regulated by OMRDD (Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities)

GOAL Provide adults with developmental disabilities with opportunities to maximize the development of their potential, reach their highest level of independence, and maximize their feeling of self-worth and accomplishment.

Southwest Day Hab Provides services for many individuals with varying needs and interests.

55 individuals currently receiving services.

Focuses on not only providing basic needs but meeting the individuals' goals providing assistance in our community.

Volunteering activities Meals on Wheels, the Soup Kitchen, Episcopal Church Home,Food Link, and the Moose Lodge.

Members of the local YMCA, library, and bowling alley.

Fairport Day Hab Large interest in community and social inclusion, as well as

volunteerism

Volunteer at: Fairport Baptist Home, Foodlink, Meals on Wheels, Open Door Mission, The Jewish Home, as well as several other locations.

Focuses on person centered planning and individualization, adapting outings and activities to the interests and abilities of each individual.

Ballantyne Day Hab Provides services to individuals with intellectual and other

developmental disabilities and age related conditions including dementia

Promoting health and wellness of body and mind, individuals are encouraged to express themselves through nostalgic activities, gardening, exercise, music, and massage therapy.

E. Henrietta Day Hab Provides services to 10 individuals. Focuses on autism and

other communication based needs, the site offers a lot of 1:1 attention.

Sensory activities as well as activities in the community are central to this site.

The group participates in volunteering in the community at Meals on Wheels, the Red Cross, and Soap Makers.

Community Arts Connection (CAC)

CAC provides the opportunity to: explore individual artistic talents choose an arts career and be trained for that path.

Arts programs include: Dance / Movement

Music

Theatre

Visual Arts

Poetry

Quilting/Fiber Arts

I. The Arc has 30 Individualized Residential Alternatives (IRAs) **range in size from 2 individuals to 12 individuals**

II. Supervised Apartments- apartment settings for individuals able to be more independent.

Residential ServicesFrom quiet rural settings to bustling city neighborhoods, The Arc of Monroe County provides a wide range of warm, caring

residences that foster a sense of belonging.

Service Coordination♦ Provides a personalized one-on-one approach

♦ Enables individuals to achieve self-fulfillment and success.

♦ Helps individuals and their families make educated choices about housing, employment, and recreational activities

Other Support Services Special Sitters Home-based respite program providing extra help for families, enabling family members to spend time away

from the home

Each sitter is thoroughly trained in communications skills, special needs awareness, creative activities, First Aid, and CPR

Family Reimbursement This funding helps in preventing out-of-home placement and enhancing the quality of family life

Requests for special adaptive equipment, environmental modifications, respite, non-covered medical therapies, transportation, recreation, and other special needs.

Individual can receive up to $1500/year in reimbursements.

Vocational Servicescan assist individuals in finding jobs

that best suits their interests and skill. Once an individual is matched with a job, Job Path provides job coaching. Referrals to Job Path come from VESID (Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities).

Job Path

ArcWorks Offers vocational training, paid work

opportunities, on-site support, vocational counseling services, and extensive vocational training and employment readiness activities for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Community Residential Habilitation

Provides customized assistance for individuals with developmental disabilities who live with their family or on their own in the community.

Support is tailored to meet the needs of the individuals.

Areas of assistance include: personal hygiene and self-care assistance with social skills household chores grocery shopping transportation to medical appointments

Arc Health Services Offers a broad range of evaluation and ongoing

treatment services to individuals with developmental disabilities.

Arc Health offers the following clinical services:Applied Behavior SpecialistNursingNutritionOccupational TherapyPhysical TherapyPsychiatryPsychologyRehabilitation CounselingSocial WorkSpeech/Language Therapy

GuardianshipIn New York State, when an individual reaches 18

years of age, he or she is assumed to be a legally competent adult and able to manage his or her own affairs.

Guardianship is a planning alternative that enables parents, relatives or a corporate guardianship program to act on behalf of the individual. Legal Guardianship can only be appointed through the Monroe County Surrogate Court system.

RecreationServices include:• Sports & spectator events

• Social functions, such as dances, mixers, and holiday celebrations

• Special Olympics training and competition

• Theatre and cultural arts exploration

• Local excursions and day trips

• Educational experiences, such as museum visits and historical tours

• Enrichment opportunities on the RIT campus- Individuals take 1 week of classes at RIT. Includes Graduation ceremony at the end of the week.
