2016 Overnight events and troop camping informational brochure for Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast

Transcript of Overnight events & camping ops brochure 2016

Event informationFeel the cool lake breeze, smell the pine trees and wildflowers, and gaze at the beautiful sky full of stars! Enjoy the outdoors as you take your camping experience to the next level with a troop overnight or event. Your girls will grow as leaders as they gain new skills and discover more about themselves. They will also grow as a team as they try out new adventures together. Events are facilitated by our experienced staff and volunteers to ensure the highest safety standards to meet the needs of all girls.

Please note that the grade level for the event is the grade girls are entering in the fall to help them get a jump start on their next year of Girl Scouting! Most events include a campfire, s’mores, and an optional night hike. Troops or individual girls and their adult chaperones will be assigned to troop houses, platform tents, or camping tents, and may be placed with another group. We are not able to guarantee sleeping accommodations requests. Each group is responsible for its own meals.

When does registration open for overnight events?Registration will automatically open on Saturday, February 6, at 7:00 p.m.

All events (unless otherwise noted) close one week before the event date if not filled earlier. If the event is full, you will be notified within three business days from time of receipt of paper registration.

What is the cancelation and refund procedure? If your troop/ girl can’t make an event you already paid for, please notify the council by the registration deadline (two weeks before an event) to transfer the fee to another event (one transfer only).

We will issue full refunds if your troop/girl cannot be placed in the session of their/her choice due to a council cancellation.

When will I receive a confirmation? We will send you a confirmation email two weeks before the event. It will contain event details including appropriate dress, items to bring, and directions. If you are attending as a troop, the person who registered the troop is responsible for ensuring that everyone has received the confirmation and sharing additional details specific to the troop’s coordination of attending the event.

How many adults can we bring to overnights?Bed space is limited. We ask that troops only register the required number of adults to meet Safety-Wise ratios. If more adults want to attend, please contact the council two weeks before the event to see if space is available. Individually registered girls are required to be accompanied by an adult.

How does a girl use Program Activity Credits (PACs)?Program Activity Credits (PACs) earned through the Girl Scout Cookie Program Activity or Fall Nut Sale can reduce the cost for the girl who earned the PAC to attend camp or an event. If you register online you should email the 12 digit card #, girl name, event session, and the PAC amount to be applied to [email protected]. You will need to pay for the event in full. Once your registration is processed and we receive the PAC#, you will be reimbursed the amount of the PAC.

Will girls earn a recognition? All events are connected to the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and many events help girls earn a Girl Scout recognition—a badge, patch, or Journey award. An Earned award means girls will complete all five steps to that badge. With a Related award, girls will complete some steps to that badge. We will specify the specific steps that girls will complete in your confirmation email.

How to registerRegistration will automatically open Saturday, February 6, at 7:00 p.m. Online registrations (preferred method) are processed immediately while paper registrations take a few days to process. Online (preferred method)
