Sheridan J. Walker of Garden Ridge says she isn’t much of a Texas Lottery player, buying scratch-offs infrequently and a weekly Lotto Texas® ticket only because her 94-year-old mother insists on it.
In fact, Walker’s mother answered the phone when a lottery official called to inform her that she won a prize of $500,000 in a Giant Jumbo Bucks III second-chance drawing.
“At first, I thought someone was playing a joke on me, maybe even my mother,” she said. “I started crying right after I got the news, and every time I think about it, I start all over again.”
Walker says she will pay off her mortgage with the prize and help her brother, too. “You can win, and I know it now, too,” she said. “It’s a good idea to visualize yourself winning a significant prize, but always remember to be grateful every day for what you already have.”
Even before Paula Bailey knew it, her friends in Vernon learned from the Texas Lottery website that their pal had won $1 million in the Mega Jumbo Bucks III second-chance drawing. Her friends found her name on the winners’ list.
“I was at work,” Bailey said. “Almost everyone I know knew about it before I did.”
Finding out from her friends about the win nearly knocked her over.“I’m a regular player and have been for years. I have used family birthdays on the on-line tickets and decided which scratch-offs to buy based on how many tickets are in a roll originally and how many remain.”
“When my friends told me about this win, I got nervous and excited, but mostly I was
shocked,”Bailey said.
The $1 million prize will be a savings boon for her family, Bailey said. “I’m saving most of this money
for my children, but this will also help me get out of debt and buy a new
vehicle.”

Thomas Herdman says he can’t wait to get to Las Vegas to be part of a special Texas Lottery winners-only occurrence of the legendary game show, The Price is Right® Live Stage Show. He won the trip after sending in his non-winning The Price is Right® scratch-offs to a Texas Lottery second-chance drawing.
“Part of the prize I won is $1,000 in spending cash,” Herdman said. “I told my wife that’s like getting a paid vacation to Vegas. I’m a quiet kind of guy, but to say that I’m excited about this prize and being part of the show doesn’t come close to how I feel.”
Herdman received a letter from the Texas Lottery informing him of his win. The prize offers a four-day, three-night trip for each prizewinner and a guest. During the non-televised show, prizewinners will be randomly chosen to “Come On Down” to Contestants’ Row and bid on prizes. Additionally, four randomly selected winners will get a turn at the Big Money Wheel for an opportunity to win prizes from $1,000 to $1 million.
