EU Library awarded as PAARL 2016 Outstanding Academic/Research Library

Dr. Rose Villamater together with the library staff of MSEUF ( at the center) received the award from

the PAARL Officers.

The MSEUF University Library was

awarded by the Philippine Association of

Academic & Research Librarians as the

Outstanding Academic Research Library 2016

on January 27, 2017 at Henry Sy Sr. Hall, De

La Salle University, Taft Avenue, Manila.

Enverga University was awarded for its

outstanding leadership in regional library

development in the areas of education,

training, information literacy, and innovative

library programs as one of the biggest and

updated libraries in CALABARZON; for its

dedicated commitment and active involvement

in information networking and linkages as

demonstrated by its outreach program

particularly the Adopt-A-Library Program; and for

its continued sustained support of PAARL’s

activities and undertakings.

LIB.COM hold Ist LIS QUIZ BEE Lib.Com hold its 1st LIS Quiz Bee last

November 19, 2016 at the library seminar hall,

MSEUF, Lucena City. The activity aims to discover,

develop and hone the skills of the LIS students in the

field of librarianship. It was participated by first to

fourth year students of BLIS and all members of

LIB.COM.

Cristian Mendoza and Princess Clanette

Lazo got first place, Jalene Xena Tibayan and Maida

Grace Verdan got 2nd place and 3rd placer were Imee

Michelle Perez and Michelle Verches. The winners

received medals and certificates.

Invited panel of judges were Ms. Aisa G.

Castro and Mrs. Myrna M. Casipit.

EU HS student bagged 1st place in the

PLAI National Essay writing contest

The participants and winners of 1st LIS Quiz Bee with Mrs. Myrna Casipit

and Ms. Aisa Castro.

Justine Escote bagged 2nd place

during the National Book Week Essay

Writing Contest. The said activity was part

of the 82nd National Book Week

Celebration last November 24-30, 2016.

Escote is a Grade 10-Sampaguita

student of MSEUF Basic Education

Department. His essay which anchored on

the theme “ Today’s Readers: Inclusivity in

Diversity” was hailed as one of the best,

making him the 2nd placer in the National

Level.

He also bested other high school

contestants from other schools in Southern

Tagalog Region on essay writing contest on

the regional level, making his work the

official entry to the national level.

Awarding was held at the National Library of

the Philippines on November 24, 2016. He received

a cash prize and a certificate of recognition.

VOLUME 12, ISSUE No.2

ADOPT-A-LIBRARY PROGRAM UPDATES Two (2) school libraries were officially adopted

by the MSEUF University Libraries through its Adopt-A-

Library Program. On October 21, 2016, Froilan E. Lopez

Elementary School and Ibabang Iyam Elementary signed

in the Adopt- A- Library Program Memorandum of

Agreement. The University Libraries now have twelve

(12) officially adopted libraries under the Adopt-a-Library

Program. These libraries are the priorities in terms of

book donations and other library improvement that the

University Libraries will hold.

The MSEUF University Library is committed to

help other small libraries to have their own respective

learning materials and organized their library through its

Community Extension Project - “Adopt-A Library

Program”. This program provides books and other

reading materials to its adopted libraries. As of

December 2016, the University Libraries has twelve (12)

adopted libraries.

For this year, the Adopt-a-Library Project has

able to collect 1,954 volumes of books that was given

away to the different recipient schools/libraries such as

Ibabang Iyam Elementary School, Froilan E. Lopez

Elementary School, Silangang Mayao Elementary

School, Alabat Municipal Library and Gulang-Gulang

National High School Ibabang Talim Extension.

The University Libraries hope that those books

will be used and be of great help to the different schools

adopted. For these books will help students enrich their

information literacy skills and prepare them to be

globally competitive individuals in the coming years.

Green Revolution: Halamanan ng Librarian

The library staff together with the Lib.Com members created the Halamanan ng Librarian Project. Halamanan ng Librarian is a Green Revolution Project wherein staff and Lib.Com members plant vegetable and herbal plants at the

back of the library. The project aims to produce vegetable and herbal plants and sell it. The fund will be used to help support chosen library student assistant who is in need of financial help.

EU Library participated in the CRD Gift Giving Activity The EU Library staff participated

in the Community Relation Department

Gift Giving Activity through collecting

and donating items for the said activity.

On October 8, 2016, the University

Libraries endorsed their donations of

assorted clothes, footwear, medicines

and others to Mrs. Milagrosa Lawas,

Community Relation Department

Director, in support for their Gift Giving

Activity. The collected items will be

donated to some of our adopted

barangays of the University.


Library Building bagged 1st Place in the Christmas Facade Contest

Library Christmas Party

The University Library held its annual Library Christmas Party on December 19, 2016 at the Library Seminar Hall, MSEUF, Lucena City. It was spearheaded by Mrs. Marisa Mahiya, Mrs. Geraldine Eustaquio and Mrs. Sheryl Farquerabao.

Library Building won first place in the

Christmas Building Facade Decorating Contest on

December 07, 2016. The team, comprised of

Library Department, Physical Plant & Facilities

(PPF), Procurement Office, Property Department

and Dr. Cesar A. Villariba Research & Knowledge

Management Institute (DCAVRKMI) . The

different offices worked together towards

achieving a heavenly liked façade

decorated with four (4) giant angels using

the columns, angels in the glass panes and

chandelier liked CDs with a sign: Gloria in

Exelcis Deo.

The awarding ceremony took place

in front of the University Gymnasium during

the lighting ceremony of the University

Christmas tree. Other activities such as

lantern making and parade, Christmas

Cantata was held in celebration of the

annual Christmas Fiestanglaw.

Other winners of the façade decorating contests were: Basic Education Department Building (2nd Place) and Alumni Building (3rd Place).

The theme of the Christmas Party is “White Christmas” wherein staff and student assistants are requested to wear white clothes in accordance with the theme. The different committees prepared food, lot of games, and prizes for everyone to enjoy.
