The Outreach Quarterly Our supporters have been busy this fall and winter; we have a lot to be thankful for! Thank you to the Junior Women's Club of Roanoke for the wonderful Thanksgiving dinner shared with C.O.P. children and families. They have provided, served, and coordinated Thanksgiving dinner for years and they are so kind to continue their loving support of children in need. Following the dinner was a special performance by “Me and Martha”, thanks to donations from generous individuals. Thanks to the Wells Fargo Executives who packaged UFO Weekend meals and brought cupcakes for Thanksgiving and to Cave Spring UMW who packaged Christmas UFO weekend meals. Trinity UMC provided a delicious Christmas dinner, followed by meeting Santa Claus and hearing the Charlie Brown Christmas. Life Tabernacle surprised the children with a Christmas Party. The children received dinner, Christmas gifts and met Santa. 160 Christmas Angels were adopted by Bonsack UMC, Thrasher UMC, St. Mark's UMC, Windsor Hills UMC, Cave Spring UMC, Fairview UMC, Central UMC in Salem and Grace UMC. The happy faces of delighted children on Christmas morning opening the generous gifts makes us especially grateful to the many donors. Freedom First Credit Union awarded the Community Outreach Program a $5000 grant, photo above, to send weekend meals home with C.O.P. kids for four months. The Barnes & Noble Bookfair was a huge success, earning $765 for C.O.P. to use to purchase books; $500 more than last year! Thank you to Valley View Barnes & Noble, the volunteers and book buyers for helping us once again with this event. B & N Valley View also collected hundreds of books in their Book Drive for us. A big thank you to Sara Bremer, owner of Just Dance Roanoke and all the dancers who bought or donated warm winter coats for all of our growing children for the second consecutive year. The Outreach Quarterly

Our supporters have been busy this fall and winter; we have a lot to be thankful for!

It’s the middle of winter, and that means it’s time to think about….golfing! No, we’re not getting out on the course just yet, but we’re already planning our golf tournament on May 18th at Hanging Rock Golf Course. This is a great chance to have fun and support the Community Outreach Program at the same time. Contact us about sponsorship opportunities.

Summer Camp Summer camp is an amazing opportunity for children to grow and learn about nature, themselves, and how much God loves them. We invite you to share the experience of summer camp with a child at C.O.P. Help them get out of the city and experience nature at Camp Alta Mons. Campership donations are just $110 including transportation; Camp Alta Mons pays the rest. Through prayer, and your good giving this amazing partnership of C.O.P. and Camp Alta Mons make the impossible possible. Please considering sponsoring a child; our Campership drive starts this February.

Hard working Kitchen

volunteers

Four nights each week during the school year volunteers prepare tasty and nutritious hot dinners for the children in our programs.

Over half of the children in Roanoke’s city schools have low enough family income to qualify for school meal assistance. Our schools are doing their part to provide lunches, but they don’t provide dinner or weekend meals to these needy kids. Children who suffer from hunger can have numerous physical and developmental issues, and do poorly in school.

Thank you to these great volunteer groups who cook every month:
