Mid-County Currituck Bridge Update
In the past two months there has
been a dramatic pickup in buyer
activity on the Outer Banks!!
Many buyers have decided
with current mortgage rates
under 5% and unbelievable deals
to be had that now is the time to
jump into the market and buy. I
have been getting reports from
other Realtors that I am not the
only one on the Outer Banks
who has been busy. The Outer
Banks market is definitely on the
upswing. While the majority of
the activity has been below
$500,000 the deals in the upper
price ranges are so good many of
those listings are starting to
move as well.
Here are two examples of the
great deals my clients recently
got on the Outer Banks.
One of my clients just closed
on this Short Sale a few days
ago. This Outer Banks
beach house is 5bd /5 1/2bth
3000sq ft built in 2003 located in
Nags Head plus the house came
fully furnished with a pool, hot
tub, elevator, game room, and
you can walk to the beach!.
The tax value on this house is
$639,200 and was originally
listed for $803,000 in 2007.
My clients were able to get the
house for $570,000!!!

A few weeks ago the NC Turnpike Authority announced the Mid-County Currituck Bridge is scheduled to begin construction in the fall of 2010. Final preparation for the project is currently taking place and the projects lead contractor has been selected. Currently there are 3 different proposed routes on the table for the NCTA to choose from. The NCTA plans to have the final route approved by the end of 2009/early 2010. For many Outer Banks residents and tourists that get caught up in the Saturday/Sunday turnover this bridge will hopefully eliminate most traffic delays. Expected completion of the bridge is slated for 2013. Keep your fingers crossed that it’s done on time!!

ALERT!! Don’t Speed On The Bridge!!
I wanted to let everyone know that the local and State Police have been sitting at the base of the Wright Memorial Bridge as you come onto the Outer Banks. They will be there during the day and especially at night. When you come across the bridge do not speed! No one wants to start their vacation or weekend trip to the Outer Banks with a speeding ticket. DON’T DRINK & DRIVE anywhere on the Outer Banks. If you get caught not only will you get the dreaded DUI but your name and hometown will be printed in the local paper!!
