BACK BAYECOLOGICAL

PROGRAM Back Bay is the habitat for many types of animals and migrating and wintering waterfowl. Large flocks use the Back Bay and freshwater areas during the fall and winter months. Many duck species, tundra swans, Canadian and snow geese are in abundance.

It provides food and cover for various mammals, such as river otters, white-tailed deer, mink, opossums, raccoons, and the red fox.

Reptiles include poisonous cottonmouth snakes, brown and northern water snakes, black rat snakes and eastern hognose snakes. Turtles are seen on logs sunning themselves on warm days. The most common turtles are the snapping, red-bellied, painted, and eastern mud.

Scrublands are dominated by wild black cherry, bayberry, wax myrtle, and highbush blueberry plants.

In summer, osprey and song birds are hatching. Ticks, chiggers, and other biting insects are abundant. Hibiscus bloom along the edge of the marsh.

NOTE: ALL AREAS WITHIN 50 FEET OF MARSHLAND, BULKHEAD, RESIDENTIAL AREAS AND ANY TYPE OF VEGETATION ARE ABSOLUTELY “NO WAKE” ZONES. THESE AREAS SHOULD BE AVOIDED EXCEPT IN EMERGENCY SITUATIONS.

Regulations exist for the safety and welfare of the wildlife, the Bay and you.

Resort Policies & ProceduresRUBBISH: Rubbish will be picked up daily at 10:00 am. Please use plastic bags and tie them securely. Leave bags by the edge of the road at the front of your site ONLY IN THE MORNING.

VISITORS: Visitors and guests must register at front office. If you have over 4 people registered on your site, visitors will be charged $7.00 per person per visit.

SITES: SCREEN ROOMS, CLOTHESLINES, TENTS AND GROUND-MOUNTED SATELLITE DISHES ARE PROHIBITED. Site changes can be made by obtaining approval from the registration office before change.

PETS: Maximum 3 pets are permitted. Keep on a leash. They must not be permitted to disturb others by barking or littering. Please pick up after your pet. Proof of rabies shots may be requested.

CAMPFIRES: Campfires are prohibited by city law. All grills must have legs. Use of grills on picnic tables is prohibited.

PRIVACY: Lots are privately owned. Entering or crossing any site other than your own is prohibited.

FISHING: Fishing licenses are necessary for bay fishing.

DISCHARGE: It is a violation of the state health code to discharge any amount of water onto the ground.

QUIET HOURS: Quiet hours are from 11:00 pm to 8:00 am and are strictly enforced.

GATECARDS: Gatecards to enter the Resort 24 hours a day must be obtained at the registration office for a deposit of $50.00, which is refunded upon their return at departure time. Absolutely no letting others in with your card.

MESSAGES: Messages are not delivered. Please check the bulletin board in the office for messages. EMERGENCY MESSAGES WILL BE DELIVERED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

NOTE: We established the rules for your maximum comfort and safety. Management reserves the right to discharge any person for failure to abide by these rules.
