CAMPING IDAHO Laird Park, Harvard From Harvard drive 3 miles northeast on Hwy. 6; 1 mile on Forest Rd. 447 208.875.1131 Paved roads and parking spaces welcome you into this heavily forested campground. This is a popular local camping destination for families as there are plenty of spaces for RVs as well as tents. The swimming area is a great place to cool off and spend the day. Little Boulder Campground, Deary From Deary drive 4 miles east on Hwy. 8; 3 miles southeast on County Rd. 1963 208.875.1131 This inviting 16-site campground is thickly forested, giving campers plenty of privacy. Fly- fish in the Potlatch River which runs adjacent to the campground. Moose Creek Reservoir Hwy. 8 east of Deary onto Forest Rd. 281 208.334.3700 Beyond the rolling hills of the Palouse lies this wilderness wonderland. Stay in the 24-site campground and fish off one of the many docks that are placed around the lake. Spring Valley Reservoir Hwy. 8 east of Troy, ID 208.334.3700 An earthen dam creates a half-mile-long reservoir popular with locals for fishing, swimming, and electric motor boating fun. Several primitive campsites with fire pits are available. WASHINGTON Boyer Park & Marina 1753 Granite Rd., Colfax 509.397.3208 Boyer Park is open year round and lists a swimming area, boat launch, RV Park, tent sites, motel rooms, grill, deli, and groceries among it’s amenities. This spot is a great getaway for an hour, day, weekend, or week. Chief Timothy Park 13766 Hwy. 12, Clarkston 509.758.9580 The campground is spacious and shady, with a well-maintained day use area as well as a swimming beach, boat launch, and five docks for the convenience of boaters and fishermen. BIKING, HIKING & WALKING Bill Chipman Trail Parallel to Hwy. 270 between Moscow and Pullman Bike, walk, run or rollerblade on this 7 mile paved trail. While you’re there make sure to stop at the educational rest areas along the path and take note of the restoration along the banks of Paradise Creek. Hobo Cedar Grove, Clarkia, ID From Clarkia, follow Forest Rd. 301 one mile to Forest Rd. 321 on to Forest Rd. 3357 to the trailhead 208.245.2531 The grove is a 240 acre area containing old growth Western Red Cedar estimated to be 500 years old. Walk the self guided loop trail through the cedars and carpet of lady fern. Idler’s Rest Conservatory From Hwy. 8 in Moscow, take Mountain View Road until the “T” with Idlers Rest; bear right and follow that until near its end 208.669.0722 Idler’s Rest offers an idyllic forest setting adjacent to the Palouse farmlands. You can also cross over the road and hike the trails beyond the creek. Latah Trail Parallel to Hwy. 8 be- tween Moscow and Troy 208.874.3860 The safe and scenic, off-the-highway 11 mile paved path connects the towns of Moscow and Troy until Howell Road, where it winds north through a forested area to complete the last few miles of its journey. Moscow Mountain [email protected] For true mountain biking, Moscow Mountain is the crown jewel on the Palouse. Enjoy miles of lovingly handcrafted single-track covering the mountain, most of which are open to hikers and bikers and closed to motorized use. Virgil Philips Farm County Park4705 US Hwy 95, Moscow208.883.5709Virgil Phillips’ 160 acre farm was bequeathed to the City of Moscow in 1972 by Virgil Phillips “for the benefit and use of the children of Moscow for recreation purposes.” At the Virgil Phillips Farm County Park, primitive hiking trails lead through a variety of habitats including forested lands, open fields and wetlands.

WHITMAN COUNTY, WASHINGTONKlemgard County Park4701 Upper Union Flat Rd, Colfax509.397.6238This beautiful day use county park is nestled in a forested canyon in the beautiful Union Flat area. Klemgard’s 59 acres is ideal for families, large groups and picnics.

Kamiak Butte County ParkState Hwy 272 between Pullman and Palouse509.397.6238Kamiak Butte is recognized as a National Natural Landmark. The park has over five miles of forested hiking trails, day use picnicking, a play area and overnight camping. Be sure to bring your camera as the park also offers visitors a panoramic view of the Palouse region.

Wawawai County ParkFrom Pullman, take Wawawai Rd. south for 10 miles509.397.6238Wawawai County Park sits in the Snake River Canyon approximately three miles upstream from Lower Granite Dam. The 49 acre park is a popular place for families to picnic and camp. A nearby boat ramp provides access to the reservoir for fishing and water sports.

STATE PARKS

While day use areas are open year round, camping is limited to the seasons. Heyburn State Park is connected to the Trail of the Couer d’Alenes paved bike path and borders Chatolet Lake.

McCroskey State Park26 miles north of Moscow, turn west on Skyline Drive208.686.1308McCroskey State Park’s highlight is an 18-mile skyline drive through the park on unimproved roads. It provides spectacular views of the rolling Palouse country and access to 32 miles of multi-purpose trails. Primitive camping and picnic sites are along the road as well.

WASHINGTONSteptoe Butte State Park6 miles north of Colfax in Hwy. 195; follow signs to the park360.902.8844Experience the gorgeous 360° views of the Palouse from the top of this 3,612-foot-tall natural monument. There are picnic areas and restrooms at the base of the butte.

Palouse Falls State ParkFrom Washtucna, take Hwy. 260/ 261 southwest for 6.3 miles; turn left on Hwy 261; turn left on Palouse Falls Rd. 360.902.8844This 105-acre camping park with a unique geology. The park of-fers a dramatic view of one of the state’s most beautiful waterfalls. Palouse Falls drops from

a height of 198 feet with high volumes of wa-ter flow in spring and early summer.

Elk Creek Campground is found in a picturesque setting of mature pine forests and next to the tinkling waters of Elk Creek. Enjoy the hiking, mountain biking and horsebackriding trails from the campground that meander through the huge trees.
