The RailStaff Awards began in 2007 to show appreciation for the great effort of the
people who work in the rail industry. As publishers of RailStaff, we consistently see
great achievements, courage and bravery in every edition. Yet nobody was saying
‘thanks’ or ‘well done’. We wanted to fix that.
On the face of it the RailStaff Awards is a ceremony to show appreciation for
the people who deliver the railway - from drivers to cleaners, and engineers to
station staff. Often these are stories of lives saved, careers turned around and
adversity conquered.
In 2014, The RailStaff Awards saw over 1,000 people in attendance,
1,500 nominations and 35,000 votes.
However the evening itself is much more. Join us this October
for wonderful food, drinks reception, music, dancing, floor shows,
and a theme.
Come and join us at the Rail Industry event of the year
on Saturday 10th October 2015 at The Ricoh Arena.

How Do The RailStaff Awards Work?
If you think you may know someone that deserves an award then why
not nominate them? Anyone that works within the rail industry can be
nominated free from our website. The nomination will be added to the site
as soon as it has been authorised by a member of our team.
Once nominations are closed on 31st August, voting begins
and the nominees with the most votes are shortlisted.
This shortlist is presented to a panel of judges made up of
industry leaders who then go on to decide the winners.

humbling experience to watch the nominees and winners… …I felt extremely proud to be part of
the railway family.

Who Attends? The night is not just about the finalists. Over half of our table sales
are corporate seats. Why? Well, as with any of our events, it is about
networking at the highest level. The night will allow our members
time to network, reflect and celebrate this great industry we work in.
Unlike other similar events, the RailStaff Awards attract attendees
from all areas of rail.

and collected under incredible pressure or danger.
Rail Plant and Equipment Person - New for 2015
The availability and reliability of on and off-track plant is often taken for granted, but
it can have a real influence on the successful delivery of a project. The efforts of a
dedicated individual or team can make a big difference although their efforts often go
unnoticed and unrewarded. Now you can change that by nominating colleagues who, in
your opinion, go that extra mile to make sure everything runs smoothly.

“Out of Africa”the theme forthe awardsAs you arrive at the Drinks Reception you will walk in to an early morning sunrise on
the African plains. Met by stilted birds adorned with the feathers of exotic species
and fire performers - you will be welcomed by the sounds of the zebras, hippos and
impalas making their way to their early morning visit to the watering hole.
The sound of the African welcome drums will call you into the main hall as the sun
starts to rise. You will be received by your safari guide who will help you find your
pride. Will you be seated within a Zeal of Zebras, a Tower of Giraffes or a Parade of
Elephants? Once you have found which pack you belong in you can begin to marvel
at the aerial acrobatics of the African birds that surround you.
As you dine upon the four course menu inspired by the 1920’s North African spice
trade, the sun will begin to set giving way to the sunset of the African bush with the
sounds of the predatory animals beginning their evenings activities of finding their
own dinner! Watch out!

After your roaring hunger is satisfied and twilight falls
upon the room - the RailStaff Awards will begin.
The compere will announce each winner, they will be
invited on to the stage to receive their award, have
pictures taken with the host and sponsor and an
interview with RailStaff magazine!
The awards announcements will be interrupted by the
beating of drums as the interactive, high-energy masked
dancers meander their way through the tables and
balancing acts perch on the podiums amongst you. As the
aerial acrobatics, fire dancers and African pole performers
come to a close you will marvel at the dramatic finale of the
spectacular aerial rope routine.
This will lead into the final set of presentations which will include the coveted
Rail Person of the Year Award. As the awards come to a close, beautiful birds and
brightly coloured butterflies will take to the stage accompanied by emotive yet
dramatic music. Building in energy, this will lead to African drumming and tanzanian
acrobats dramatically balancing and tumbling - creating a spectacular finale to the
Out of Africa entertainment.
After the entertainment has reached its peak the guests are free to party the night
away as they choose. Whether its dancing at the watering hole or enjoying our big
surprise! In order to find out what this may be you need to BE THERE!
