Dear Sisters & Brothers in Christ,
We are all like children, we love questions. Sometimes we pose a question to ourselves to get an answer; sometimes we expect the answer from someone else and sometimes we ask about past events and facts; sometimes about current status, thoughts, feelings, ideas; sometimes about our future.
Recently, a couple parishioners asked me: Father are you leaving? I had no idea why they were asking, until they explained it was in Chicago Catholic about new assignments. Oh, no! again, and again. There is another priest in archdio-cese with the same first name, and similar last name, he just has no “z” at the end of his last name. Many times, letters and emails even from archdiocesan
offices are mixed with the person and address. What ought to go him, it comes to me, and vice versa. I hope that officials in heaven will be more accurate with our names when we come to St. Peter’s door!
In the last week there was an on-line meeting called “Tuesdays Together,” which is the archdiocesan way to communicate across parishes and the pastoral center. I can tell you there are always many questions regarding our current status and the future in parishes, schools, organizations, and groups. At the recent meeting there was a good presentation about options for the religious education programs in the coming school year. That’s a challenge. With our OLMC RelEd Interim Committee Sandy Wilson, Pat Peterson, and Barb Annoreno we discussed what is the best at this time, at our place. We plan to have the program starting this September with home session plan teaching, ready to switch at any time to teaching in classrooms. It seems to be the best way as there is still a lot of uncertainty with the pandemic development.
Students from last year second grade are anxiously awaiting their First Holy Communion. It was planned for the end of April, but there was no way to have the celebration as pandemic was at its peak. Now, we prepare to celebrate it by the end of August. Capacity limit at our church is 70 people which allows a safe distance in health terms so some students will receive it at a special Mass, some at regular Sunday parish Masses. Please, keep them and their families in your prayers.
Another question at “Tuesdays Together” addressed new restrictions in bars and restaurants in Chicago. So far, there is no change for our liturgical celebrations. We have two Sunday Masses: one Sunday-Vigil Mass on Saturday at 5 p.m. and one Sunday morning Mass at 11 a.m. Both are streamed on-line at our parish website and on a YouTube channel.
Keeping you in my prayers,
Father Andrew

Our Lady, Mother of the Church Mission Statement
We, the members of Our Lady, Mother of the Church, are drawn together through baptism as a part of the Body of Christ. We are a caring Catholic community, working together as instruments through which Jesus, our risen Lord and Head, continues His mission. Linked to Christ as His Body, we be-lieve that the risen Jesus still proclaims God’s word, gives thanks and praise, welcomes, nurtures, com-forts and reaches out to all people. Using the hands and hearts of the members of the parish, with a growing sense that each of us is gifted and has an important part to play in our Parish, Church and World, we renew our call: ♦ to be a Parish diligent about Word and Eucharist,
the primary source of our nourishment and spiritual growth... ♦ to be “missioned” - sent forth in the person of
Jesus, to bring His Word and Eucharist to family, friends, neighbors and workplace...
♦ to reach out to the sick, the homebound, the per-secuted, the lonely, the poor and the bereaved…
♦ to find time to share laughter, joy, friendship, at times, tears; and always to share the goodness of each other...

Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle; be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do you, O prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and the other evil spirits
who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.
Amen.

“Wearing a mask is about caring for your friends and neighbors and follows Christ’s simple commandment to love one another.
It’s an easy, safe and effective way to protect everyone for the common good. Wearing a mask as recommended by the CDC will make
a big difference in slowing the spread of COVID-19. Let’s do this together for each other.”
