Polar Bears
Male polar bears may grow 10 feet(3.04m) tall and weigh over 635 Kilograms. Females reach seven feet (2.13m)and weigh 295 Kilograms. In the wild polar bears live up to age 25.

Clear Polar Bears?
Polar bear fur is transparent, it has no colour. Polar bears look white because of the way their fur reflects visible light. Of course, looking white helps a polar bear blend right into the ice and snow. A polar bear’s fur also keeps it warm. The hairs trap heat, sending it to the skin (which is black). Just how good is a polar bear’s coat at trapping heat? In the past, scientists tried to keep an eye on polar bears using infrared cameras (cameras that photograph “heat”). But polar bears lose so little heat, the infrared cameras could not detect them. Now those are truly solar polar bears!

Where do we live?
They live across the ice from
Russia to Alaska, from Canada to Greenland and onto Norway's
Svalbard archipelago.

A Little Something
Prowling silently through the jungle in search of prey, the
mighty Bengal tiger is one of the most
ferocious hunters. As the tiger creeps up on prey. Its stripy orange and black fur blends in
against the sun-bleached grasslands,
muddy swamps and the dappled shade of leafy
jungles.

Vegetarians
Pandas are vegetarians with a special diet. They eat leaves, stems and
shoots of about 30 types of bamboo.
Bamboo only contains a small amount of
goodness, so they have to eat an awful lot to stay healthy. They munch their way
through half their own body weight of bamboo
every day.

Giant pandas live in a few mountain ranges in central China’s Sichuan, Shaanxi, and Gansu provinces. They once lived in lowland areas, but farming, forest clearing, and other development now restrict giant pandas to the
mountains.

Turtles in Danger
Turtles get tangles up in fishing gear and litter drifting in the ocean. Eventually they drown.
Pollution damages turtle feeding areas, such as coral reefs. It also poisons the turtle
Boats and jet skis crash into swimming turtlesHotel complexes destroy turtle beaches, and careless tourists disturb the
females as they try to lay eggsLocal people catch turtles and collect their eggs ands sell them for food
