Term 3 already looks jam packed with opportunities and great chances for learning. As you may have gathered from the app notification we have started our Grade 3-4 Technology challenge with 5 of our students. They are being stretched with a technology challenge each week. We hope to publish some of their solutions to the challenges over the coming weeks. Their ability to work collaboratively as a team, take on a variety of roles, problem solve and communicate effectively is great to see. We are hopeful that our French lessons will commence this week and we are continuing our work with Cressy to provide diverse learning opportunities for our students. There will be a large number of our Grade 5 and 6 students trialling for various Country Gold teams next Friday and we wish them all the best with their endeavours. It is great that so many of them are willing to put themselves forward and test their skills and sportsmanship against others. I am really proud of them for doing this as often it is easier to avoid disappointment than to challenge yourself. Change seems to be an increasing aspect of the world we live in and therefore it is critical that we equip our children with the skills to manage and cope with this when it happens. The first thing we need to do is to ensure that we support children in understanding what the change is. We can help by talking things through with them, identifying any problems and talking about possible solutions to their concerns. These experiences and the associated learning help to build resilience and grit. We cant afford to keep them sheltered. We need to challenge them and allow them to make mistakes. We need to talk with and support them and continue to encourage them to “have a go”. This is how strength of character and independence emerges. Remember that you can adapt to anything! Regards Colin

Woolworths Earn & Learn 2017

Bracknell Primary is participating again this year

in the Woolworths Earn & Learn program.

Through this program we will be able to get new

educational resources for our school.

From Wednesday 26th July to Tuesday 19th September or while

stock lasts, we are collecting Woolworths Earn & Learn

Stickers. You will get one Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker for

every $10 spent (conditions apply). Place the Woolworths Earn &

Learn Sticker onto a Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker Sheet and

when it’s complete, the Sticker Sheet can be dropped into the

Collection Box here at the school or at the Bracknell Primary

School box at Woolworths, Prospect Vale. Thank you for your

support.

How many books have you read? Have you collected

your prize after reading 10? The challenge finishes on

Friday, 18 August so keep reading and keep collecting

prizes until they run out.

Speech Pathology Kindergarten Screening

As part of the school speech pathology service, all children in kindergarten will be screened

for speech and language difficulties during Term 3. The screening takes approximately 15

minutes per child and will screen receptive language skills (ability to understand information

and instructions), expressive language skills (use of words and sentences), and the child’s

ability to say sounds in words.

Following the screening, parents will receive a report advising whether a full assessment of

speech and language is recommended. If you do not want your child to be screened, please

advise your child’s kindergarten teacher by 11th August, 2017.
