Our Village Hall is for the benefit of the inhabitants of the Parish of Inkpen and its immediate vicinity. To promote cultura l , s o c i a l , e d u c a t i o n a l and physical activities within the community. To provide a comfortable facility for local organisations to hire. Charity Commission No: 3 0 0 1 6 8 When you drive past the village hall you could be forgiven for thinking that there is nothing going on - that’s definitely not the case, it’s a busy amenity. Most residents would be surprised by a raft of other issues that need to be dealt with, quite apart from bookings and the day to day running. The committee is full of ideas about what can be done and we are always looking for events that will be popular. The job we have as a committee is two fold, to run the hall so that it serves the community and the onerous task of ensuring that we generate enough funds to keep it in good shape and hopefully improve it. Any ideas or comments would be welcome. From our side we hope to have a number of new initiatives in the new year, building on the successes of the year to date. Peter Ritchie - Chairman Renewable and alternative energy Friday 3rd February at 7.30pm. An opportunity to hear the latest energy saving ideas from experts. Low cost and less low cost alternative approaches to better value energy. David Thomas has studied alternative energy in relation to West Berkshire and Inkpen and will offer common sense advice that you can follow immediately for a small outlay. The authoritative version Mike Landy of the Renewable Energy Association will provide an expert view on the current status of Solar PV as well as up to date information on government policy. He will also talk about other renewable energy. Does Solar PV live up to claims? Hear from an Inkpen resident who has installed it. David Glitz will recount his personal experience of signing up to and installing Solar PV. We have invited three suppliers to take a table each, so that you can test out your options and have them costed. There will be refreshments and a bar. Admission just £1.
