HELLO MERCURY!!!!

This is Mercury. It is the closest planet to the Sun. Because it's so close to the Sun, a planetary year on Mercury only takes 88 days. Also, it's surface is kind of like the Moon's because of large craters. In

fact, the largest crater on Mercury is 900 miles in diameter!!!!!! Next, Mercury only

takes 88 days to orbit the Sun. Something interesting that I find about

Mercury is that it has no moons. Nearly all planets in the Solar System. For some

reason, a day on Mercury takes 59 Earth days.

NEXT STOP, VENUS!!!!!!!!Is it a hot, sweltering day ?? Well feel glad that your not standing on Venus right now. The

average temp on Venus is 864 degrees Fahrenheit!!!! Even though Venus has no water that we know of, if you were standing on it this very moment, the pressure would be the same as

standing under 3,200 lbs of water!!! Venus is covered in thick noxious clouds of acid that make it hard/impossible to see Venus's surface. Even if you could see its surface you'd just see lots of lava flows. Also, a planetary year on Venus is 225 Earth days. Venus, like Mercury is one of the two planets in the Solar System that doesn't have any moons. One thing that I find

interesting is that Venus rotates clockwise!!!!!

HOME SWEET HOME!!!!!!Ahhhhhh......... We're home again, back to the

salty oceans and the sweet smelling trees. In fact, The Earth is made up of 71% salt

water!!! It's because of all that water that Earth is the only planet that we know of

that can sustain life. It's the right place for things to live because on average Earth is 93,000,000 miles from the Sun. But were destroying our beautiful atmosphere that

keeps air in with global warming (that's when we rip hole in our atmosphere). Also, some people call Earth "The Blue Marble" because from outer space Earth can look like a blue

marble.

POSSIBLY OUR FUTURE HOME. Mars might be our future home. If it is, I hope you like the

color red. Mars is sometimes called "the Red planet" because, well, it's a red planet. The red coloring comes from iron oxide which is a form of rust. The highest

mountain on Mars is 3 times the height of mt. Everest which is 88,600 ft.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It takes Mars 687

Earth days to orbit the Sun. Viking 1 and 2 landers took the first color pictures of Mars.

OLD GASSY JUPITER

Hello this is big old Jupiter. Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system. Jupiter is famous for its Red Spot of intense storms. But scientists have after

many observations, said that the storm is dying. In fact, right now three Earths could fit inside the Red Spot!!!! The winds in the Red Spot are like a hurricane. Believe it or not, Saturn isn't the only planet with rings Jupiter has some to but they are hard to see. It takes 11 yrs to orbit the Sun! Also, Jupiter has 63 moons!!!!!! Lastly, Jupiter is the 3rd brightest object in the

sky.

I've got so many rings it's cutting off circulation!!!

Saturn has thousands of individual rings but four main ring bands. Also, Saturn is the second largest planet in the Solar System. In fact, 764 Earths

could fit inside!!!!! Saturn is a gas giant and its gasses are so light, that

if there was a body of water big enough Saturn could float!!!!!!! It

takes 26 years for Saturn to orbit the Sun.

URANUS

Now we've made our way to the 7th planet from the Sun, Uranus. Uranus is a gas giant with 13 known rings. The rings may be small particles left

from an exploding moon. Uranus is the 3rd largest planet. It takes 84 years to orbit the Sun!!!! That means a person on Uranus might not even get to be 1!!!!!!!! Uranus's poles are on the east and west part of Uranus. So Uranus is tilted clockwise!!!!! Scientists believe that this odd tilt was

caused by a collision with matter forming into a planet when the Universe was first created.

THE SEA GODSay good bye to the Solar System and hello to Neptune. Neptune

is the last planet in the Solar System. Which means it's the 8th planet from the Sun. Like 3 other of the gas giants Neptune has

rings which are ice particles. Next, Neptune is the 4th largest planet in the Solar System. Something interesting, it takes

Neptune 165 years to orbit the Sun!!!!! Neptune the Roman God is God of the sea.
