The Asteroid Belt is between Mars and Jupiter. It is there because that is probably the remnants of a meteor shower.

The scientists call Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars the “Inner Planets” because they are inside the Asteroid Belt. They call

Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto the “Outer Planets” because they are outside the Asteroid Belt.

Jupiter is the biggest planet out of all of them. This is the first of the Outer Planets. Jupiter has a non-stop hurricane on its surface called “The Great Red Spot” on its surface. The Red

Spot alone is bigger than 3 Earths put together.

The 6th planet from the sun is Saturn. It has the most rings. 1,000 or more. They are all made up of ice particles and rock.

Uranus has rings like Saturn. Though it only has 11 rings. Uranus is tilted on its side and has orbited The Sun that way ever since. Scientists think that it is the result of a collision

with an object the size of Earth.

Like Jupiter, Neptune has a storm called “The Great Dark Spot”. Actually, its not even a storm at all, or rather a hole in

the atmosphere. Neptune has 5 rings.

Pluto is the smallest planet orbiting The Sun. Scientists call it a “dwarf planet.” Pluto’s moon is almost as big as the planet

itself.

Comets are objects in space like asteroids. They can be found anywhere in the Solar System. They are made mostly of frozen

gas, rock, and dust. This is a picture of Halley’s Comet.

Black Holes are like humongous vacuums. They are powerful enough to suck up The Earth. Also, they can suck up even

bigger planets such as Saturn, Jupiter, and even The Sun.
