ADDENDUM NO.2 TO THE TENDER FOR SUPPLY, DESIGN & INSTALLATION OF THIKA
NORTH 66/11KV SUBSTATION & ASSOCIATED LINES- KP1/6BA/PROJ/PT/26/12
The following amendments are made to the specified provisions of the Tender documents for Supply,
Design and Installation of Thika North 66/11kV substation and lines.
1. RELATIONSHIP WITH THE PRINCIPAL TENDER DOCUMENT
Save where expressly amended by the terms of this Addendum, the Principal Tender Document shall
continue to be in full force and effect.
The provisions of this Addendum shall be deemed to have been incorporated in and shall be read as
part of the Principal Tender Document.
2. CLARIFICATIONS & AMENDMENTS Refer to Appendix 1 & Appendix 2 for clarifications and amendments to Tender document.
All the other terms and conditions remain as per the Tender document.

The contractor will design the foundation perimeter fence based on
the soil investigation.
The minimum of four strands shall be used for the electric fence.
12. Q. Clarify the busbar material to be used

The plot area is 0.405HA and the dimensions are as indicated in the

as follows: 1)3nos. per outgoing
11kV feeder (4nos. 11kV feeders);
2)3nos for the auxiliary transformer
and 3) 3nos for the power
transformer.

mentioned as 1 pc each. However as per
schedule 1, the same are there & two nos.
respectively. Please clarify.

This should be reflected in modified
SLD.

However as per scope & schedule -1 the

presume that the cable laying & civil work
for the same is not in bidder’s scope. This
applies to 11kv cable from indoor
switchgear to auxiliary transformer as well.

termination kits in price schedule 1 & 4

Only SLD has been provided with tender
document. Kindly furnish GA with details
such as plot size, control building location,
road layout etc and electrical layout plan &
elevation drawings.
These drawings are necessary for electrical.
Civil & structural quantity assessments.
This is a turnkey project and bidders
are expected to develop a design for
the Works detailed in the scope of
works, install and commission the
Works.
Bidders are required to submit in
their bids provisional layouts in
conformity with Employer’s
requirement as detailed in Volume 2
of the Bid document.
14 Current Transformer ratio
details
Core wise details such as current ratio, knee
point voltage, exciting current, burden etc
for 66kv & 11kv CTs are not mentioned in
SLD or technical data sheets. Kindly
furnish the same.
Refer to Volume 2 of the Bid
document i.e. Para 4.1.1.10.9 and
4.1.1.13.4 for specifications, size,
class and rating.
As stated in response no.12 above
bidders will be required to provide

calculations to show how the
CVT/CTs they propose to use in the
Works conform to employer’s
requirements.
15 66kv Bus bar As per SLD 66kv bus bar is in present
scope of work. Kindly confirm whether the
bus bar shall be rubular type supported by
66kv BPI or using flexible conductor strung
at bus gantries.
The 66 and 11kV outdoor busbars
will be of the tubular type only.
16 Building work Price schedule sr. TKN-880 states that
switchgear building & other building.
Kindly clarify what will be scope of work
under other buildings.
Further kindly furnish plan & elevation
drawings for switchgear building & any
other building involved in present scope of
work.

17. 66kv & 11kv pole Lines Kindly furnish installation arrangement
drawings for 66kv & 11kv Poles Lines
Refer to Volume 2, section VI.
This is a turnkey project and Bidders
are required to provide a detailed
design of the incomer 66 & 11kV
feeder lines with their bid.
18. Concrete Poles In price schedule three types of pole are
mentioned viz. 10M, 12M & 15M. We
presume that 15M poles are to be
considered for 66kv lines and 10M & 12M
poles for 11kv lines. Kindly confirm.
