Our project is plant science. We are going to make a hybrid plant with zucchini and squash.

• If we cross-pollinate Zucchini and Squash will we make a new plant?

If a zucchini and a squash get cross pollinated, then it will become a Zuash.

• Tap Water 1 cup everyday• 3 seeds for Squash• 3 seeds for Zucchini• Plant Pot• All Purpose Potting Soil (2 cups)• Plant Light (keep on for 12

hours)• Q tips

• Procedure:• Get all materials • Put 1 cup of soil into each plant pot• Plant the seeds ( step 1. put seed into the soil, step 2. put 1/4 more

soil onto the seed)• Plant the seeds next to each other (2 in each of the 3 plant pots) • When plants have grown and there is a flower on the vegetable

take a Q tip and rub the male part of the squash and rub it in the female part of the zucchini. That’s how you cross pollinate

• Water the plant 1 cup every day• Keep plant light on the hybrid everyday for 12 hours (you can buy

the plant light from Amazon.com)• Record data by plant growth

Our results are that you can make a hybrid plant with a zucchini and a squash.

How to cross pollinate: When plants have grown and there is a flower on vegetable take a Q tip and rub the male part of the squash and rub it in the female part of the zucchini

Our hypothesis was supported. The zucchini and a squash did make a hybrid called Zuash. Therefore, the amount of soil was a positive effect on the growth of Zucchini and Squash plants. This may be due the fact that zucchini and a squash are vegetables that grow flowers. The soil and tap water could have made the plant to grow faster.

• If we use the bar graph. The graph could show the growth of the plant on the horizontal scale then we can show which group of plants on the vertical scale.

If we could do this experiment again , the variable we would change would be the amount of soil we would place in the plant pot. We would use 1 ½ cups more for the plant pot, we want to see if the amount of soil helps the plant grow taller.

• This helps the community because we can give it to the homeless. Also we can sell it for a lower price than most vegetables are.
