Public Law: experts in regulated sectors
Our Spain Public Law practice offers expertise and advice on the full range of administrative and regulatory issues. In recent years we have further developed our expertise in key sectors such as infrastructure, utilities (including energy and water), telecommunications, financial markets, and transport.
Regulatory measures, government intervention and public sector spending are omnipresent in today’s economic climate. A large variety of public law entities intervene to implement these measures.
Understanding how dealing with public law entities may be different from dealing with private entities and the impact of regulation has always been an important aspect of business life. It is even more important with governments cutting costs, privatising and selling assets, and turning to or away from public-private partnerships, as well as increasing public sector spending in some areas.
We assist a large number of public authorities and regulatory bodies on the implementation of their powers as well as with drafting and interpreting legislation. As a result, we fully understand the complexities and challenges of this area of law. Conversely, we can offer our clients in the public sphere assistance that takes into account the perspective of major private sector players.
Our clients value our straightforward and pragmatic advice. We work in an integrated way with our Banking, Corporate and Real Estate departments, and approach issues from a variety of perspectives, taking into account the wider economic and legal context.
